Totally Hypothetical Situation, But...
No only about half of them. Also if Cosmo was carryin anything sex linked you could also get hens that were opaline, cinnamon, lutino or albino. okay if he's cobalt I would put him with another cobalt as you could then get skyblues, cobalts or even mauves

Totally Hypothetical Situation, But...
I would get a green split blue spangle single factor dominant pied. That way you would get: green spangles green normals green spangle dom pieds green normal dom pieds blue spangles blue normals blue spangle dom pieds blue normal dom pieds Is he a skyblue or a cobalt? If you got a different dark factor or a voletcarrier you's also get variation in the shade of colour as well

Pantry Moths- My Mission For Today
I don't like to either, hence the reason I sealed my aviary better to keep the mice out, that way they aren't a problem  When we move I have some special wire which I am keeping to enclose my aviaries which has very small holes so mice won't be able to get in at all

Pantry Moths- My Mission For Today
Yeah I just don't have the space to have it permanently in there. The mice were hanging out in my hall cupboard so I an't putting petrol in there

How Can I Breed Black Budgie
melbournebudgies replied to shannon bird breeder's topic in Budgie Mutations, Varieties and GeneticsThose occured as a lucky pairingof two birds that happened to carry it, you can't just pick birds from your aviary and breed them.

Pantry Moths- My Mission For Today
The mice are a BIG problem, mainly in the house though not so much where the brds are (weird but probably due to the cages beng so secure). They took up residence in the cupboard where I store all my fabric for dressmaking and craft so had to take everythng out, most of it was okay but lots wasn't and had to be washed in napisan to make sure it was clean again. I found some evidence in the bottom of the pantry of them when I cleaned it so when I repacked I didn't put anything on the bottom shelf and put a loaded mousetrap facing the spot where they would run into the cupboard. It obviously worked because we got one! Hopefully we can catch a few more and it will be the end of that problem too

Pantry Moths- My Mission For Today
Well after all my scrubbing yesterday have only seen one moth today (which was swiftly dispatched;) ), if I can keep on top of new ones that hatch I might just manage to keep them away now.... I also managed to catch a mouse this morning n the mouse trap I bought yesterday so t's a promsing start all round for pest control!

To Clip Birds Wings
I haven't got any birds with clpped wings now, but none of them live in the house. I swear I've told my boys to keep the doors shut 1000 times but they still leave it open

Chick Problem
There are naturally occuring varations in bush budgies among the greens and even in opaline. The trick is that as long as that bird would be able tp persist in the wild and stay hidden in the trees it could certainly pass on it's genes. We have drawings on the walls of my old work which were done about 100 years ago of wild budgies and I'd swear one of them is grey green!

A Big Thankyou And My New Birds
It's just harder to organise things through Daz as he's so far away. What would you have liked to pair the cinny hen to? I haven't decided my pairings yet so I can try and work something that might produce what you are looking for. I know at this stage you are going more for colour than show type so if there are babies that are 'lesser quality'(but they'd still be pretty good chicks I would hope) that am looking to cull then you can have first pick

She's Beautiful, But What Is She?
She must be a YF Pearce she can't be cobalt and yellow at the same tme otherwise Forgot to say you may also get regular spangle babies too
-
She's Beautiful, But What Is She?
She is a yellowface 2 cobalt spanglerecessive ped, a very pretty girl. If he is split recessve you could get some babies the same as her some the same but with a normal wing pattern and some normals, about half the babies should get the yellowface gene

Do You Like This Pairing
Most of my pairings have a lot to answer for too GB but the way I see it if I ask for advce I want people to give me honest answers so I can learn from them and develop my birds
-
Do You Like This Pairing
okay well I'm still only new to ths so if someone more experienced has a better answer go with theirs I think it is qute a good pairing. The cock is fairly small in the head and shoulder but the hen has a good head on her so hopefully they will complement each other will in that respect. A pairing I would be happy with

A Big Thankyou And My New Birds
Yeah I'll have heaps of hens now!!! My focus now is to get a few good normal cocks to balance things a bit, I'm fond of grey spangles so might hunt a few nice big grey normals

A Big Thankyou And My New Birds
Gosh Splat if you saw what I'm trying to work with now you'd understand how thrilled I am with my new ones!! My best birds are by far the ones I was lucky enough to get at the club raffle this year but there is no way I would have been able to afford to buy them as I am told that atleast a couple of them would be $100+ birds to buy so well out of my price range, otherr than those my show birds have been mediochre at best so some nice birds like yours will make all the difference .

A Big Thankyou And My New Birds
I would like to say a HUGE thankyou to Wayno and Splat who have listened patiently while I asked questions and made decisions over the last few days about the new birds. I finally feel that I am making progress towards breeding show budgies after so long. Over the last few days and in the coming weeks I have arranged to buy a quite a few birds which will form a valuable base for my future show stock, I only hope I can do their previous owners/breeders proud and breed some winners From Wayno: From Splat arriving in a week and a half (I can't wait!!) This guy and his identical brother I'd also like to send a heartfelt thanks to everyone on this site, I have learnt so much in arelatively short amounts of time, Icouldn't have done it without you guys

My Husband Built Me A New Aviary!
I showed the picture of the avary to my hubby and he has now said he mght not mind me having millions of aviaries if they look like that He also reckons it would be well within his abilities to build them for me so I'm thrilled that it sounds like it might work out and I might get something that looks even half as good as yours! We are planning on landscaping a large yard when we move with meandering paths, etc and a number of avaries similiar to this dotted around for our various birds. I think a visit maight be definately on the agenda Kazzy so the boys can talk construction techniques and we can talk budgies OH MAN I so want to move like NOWWWWWW!!!!!
