  6. New Zealand... wow people still live there... I thought they just made movies there now... Tangelo, thats the Tangerine/Grapefruit fruit yeah... only where it originateted they call grapefruit pomelo, thus the elo on the end of the name... I wouldn't think it would be an issue... I would think that it was fine...
  7. Welcome to the forum. very cute birds. Hope you hang around and post lots on the forum.
  8. JimmyBanks replied to Pika's topic in Off Topic Chatter
Congratulations. That is fantastic news. Good luck with it!
  9. I agree this thread is great... I don't always reply but just enjoy reading it. Looks like your having lots of fun... That tear test sounds painful... between your eyelid and your eyeball??? gross....
  10. Where at LaTrobe Uni is it? You talking about La Trobe Uni Bundoora or where??
  11. I see your point liv but I'm not sure if I could sacrifice a bird in that way... and thats kind of like how I'd feel. I know it would save the rest of the flock but I dunno...
  12. Do you have threads on the other pairings? I'm having trouble keeping up... I hope oneday I'll be able to figure out what the chicks are straight away like you kaz... maybe one day...
  13. Hey there, Welcome to the BBC forum. I would agree with kaz. Probably a good idea to have an inside one as well as the ones in the aviary outside. as for breeding I wouldn't go with colony breeding but that is a personal choice... good luck and again, welcome to the forum.
  14. very cute pics. your birds look great. I wouldn't be worried about them not wanting to play... they seem pretty content just hanging out with your son.
  15. I totally understand the getting confused bit. Genetics gives me a headache. Good luck with it all. I'm sure they'll all look great.
  16. Great updates dave, you must be very proud of your flock. They are looking great.
  17. very very cute libby... Good luck with the next round when you do it.
  18. When I breed it will be cabinet breeding. From everything I've read it is just so much simpler and less hassle free. I also would like to be able to write down the geneology of the birds so that I can keep better records.
  19. you don't have to, I just like looking at everyones budgies...
  20. I get what you are saying throwback, but I think its better to be safe than sorry. I do agree that some birds can mask it well but to put them straight into breeding, a stressful situation... that would make them worse and may infact lead to them dieing... What is quarantine for... is it to find out that your bird that you just bought is deseased, or, to prevent a bird with disease to enter your flock? I think a good quarantine would involve treatments for common diseases so you are preventing it from getting to your birds, not finding out if the new birds have it...
  21. Good luck with it all... with the extra bedding hopefully all will be well... like kaz suggested maybe take the mum out so that the dad doesn't think about round 2 and just focuses on the kids.
  22. been a while since I checked out this thread... how did you eventually figure out to fix that back bit in? Looking like a good set up... At the moment I'm spending every day off down at Bunnings and other hardware shopsthinking about how I am going to build some holding cages... I might be getting an aviary from a friend for free in a month or so... so fingers crossed....
  23. wow thats crazy looking poo... It kinda looks like he gets constipated and then eventually pushes a massive one out... which begs the question can budgies get constipated? Hopefully you figure out the problem soon. Sorry to see Kim's foot. Looks painful. Good luck with it all..
