Thanks for the replies Elly and Krosp. I have started to increase Coco's cover time so hopefully that will change his behaviour Yes I will quarantine for sure with my new baby. Thanks for your help

Howdy Coco is my boy budgie who is about eleven months old now. He has always been a bit of a flirt with everything - even with the bars on his cage :happy-dancing: But lately he has been regurgitating more and more onto his toys - even when they are changed around. To the point when he will just sit there and do it for ages. I have taken his favourite toy out, but he has just moved straight onto the next thing. I have tried giving him longer sleep, but as we work quite long hours, if I try to give him more sleep, I will never get to play with him - he has been difficult to bond with. At the moment he gets at least 8 hours. I am planning on getting another baby boy budgie because Coco is by himself all day, do you think this behaviour will change when he has a friend with him? Or do some just do this more than others? Thanks!

I am in Adelaide and bought a 60(wide) x 45(deep) x 45(tall) black cage on stand with 1cm spacing and no open roof from a store in the city. If you would like the details of where I bought it, just PM me  This is my post with photos of the cage. I hope the link works, I haven't done that before. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....mp;#entry252056
  4. They look gorgeous Liv  I can't believe you ended up with a boy
  5. Yay five babies!
  6. Liv they are so beautiful, you have done so well
  7. This is a really interesting post thanks. I also have only one budgie who I have had since January, and have recently made the decision to get another one to give company to Coco as my boyfriend and I are not home during the day. It is nice listening to other peoples opinions on this subject
  8. Finally found my camera cable! Thanks for the violet photo taking tips, I managed to get a couple that show it I also took one which shows the green coming through on his tail. Thanks for all replies. He usually hates the camera but this time he started flirting with it when I was taking the close ups
  9. Mmm...I am terrible at this but here we go....how about Daisy? She is like a pretty yellow daisy. Don't feel like you have to use this - I am incredibly uninventive at names She is so beautiful, that photo makes me want to jump in my car and drive north
  10. Hi Today being a cloudy day, I had Coco next to the window and looking closely at him in the light, he has violet on both sides of his neck which I have never noticed before. He is a YF2 and is currently on his third molt and has lots of green coming through on his chest and where his tail starts. Does this mean that he is carrying violet? If so, does this change the colour that he will end up? Also, do all YF2's end up green? The feathers coming through seem really quite green. I tried to take a picture but it is really hard to see the violet on the photo. Thanks, Tamara
  11. Boof is so handsome, I really like the light green I can't wait to see the chicks
  12. They are so adorable Liv Your photos look amazing, they are so clear. Thanks for the update The creamino is just so pretty
  13. Thanks, it is 37 and very windy today, so not a good combination. I can see outside now so I think they do have it under control!
  14. Good point I have just moved him back to the lounge room because he was getting too scared in the bathroom - it is much less smokey now thank goodness
  15. Thanks Liv. I have just moved him into the main bathroom and put the exhaust fan on and it seems better than the rest of the house. I think it looks like it is finally dying down now which is good
  16. Good morning We have a bush fire at the end of our street at the moment and the smoke seems to be coming inside. Does anybody have any ideas on protecting Coco's little lungs from the fumes? I have blocked the ducts and put a fan on but it is quite strong. Thanks, Tam
  17. Hi Marina I bought a budgie play gym a couple of months ago, and my budgie has only just started to play with it recently - he is very shy at these sort of things. He doesn't really sit on it, but will pull the swing off the hooks and pull it around - he seems to love it. I personally think that they are a good idea so that your bird has a safe place to go when they are out of the cage - on that note it is probably not the best idea to let your baby walk on the ground - accidents can happen very easily. I think a lot of people put them on the top of the cage. Just be sure to check what materials it is made from eg. food safe colouring, stainless steel eg. Mine came with a copper bell that is toxic to birds so it had to be removed. Happy shopping
  18. Photos can lie....you never know. Keep the pictures coming Liv so we are sure Thanks Kaz, but I think that your accuracy rate with these things is pretty high - I think one day you may be able to tell the gender by looking at the egg  I wont give up all hope though
  19. They are great photos Liv, so clear They are so cute As for them being hens  You always seem to have boys - except for the time that I want a boy It's actually kind of funny when you think about it
  20. They are all really gorgeous Sunnie, I just love the spangles :rip: They babies look so cute when they do that show budgie pose
  21. That is such a gorgeous photo of Lady's chick, a yellowface, skyblue spangle - how cute :bump: I can't wait to see photos of your other surprise blue chick. When do you think you will be able to tell the gender of your chicks? ....yes I know I am getting a bit ahead of myself....
  22. Oh no that is terrible :hap: I am so sorry Liv. I can't belive it, that's so sad. The poor little guy. Big huge hug sent your way :hap:
  23. Oh my gosh they are the cutest photos I just love them at this age! Should baby two with the splayed legs turn out to be a boy (I am only going to have two budgies and I don't know if I want to go down the track of having a girl), I would be more than happy to offer him an inside home with Coco. Can I ask what colour you think baby two with the splayed legs and baby three will be? Lady's babies look so pretty too :hi:

When I took Coco to an avian vet, the vet sent me home with a tiny little cap, a tiny bit bigger than a coke bottle lid and said that is how much seed I should be feeding every day (my seed bowl is pretty big and I know I do put too much in there but I just worry about getting tied up somewhere and Coco not having enough food). I haven't actually followed his instructions, I just can't bring myself to do it. As for your problem with eating veggies, I had the same problem. I just kept putting veggies in there and throwing them away again, now after 9 months he finally eats them! He will only eat them served in certain ways though - with anything leafy like spinach he likes it hung up. With anything else like carrot and broccoli he likes it grated/chopped really fine on a small flat plate so he can pick at it. Anything bigger is just a game to him. Don't give up, she will come around!
  25. It's a shame you are not having much luck, don't beat yourself up about it - at least your learning from everything I can't help but smile at that picture of the poor little guy with the splint, he/she looks so gorgeous :budgiedance:
