  1. lol, i sign from god, i like it are tame galahs hard to come by? cause if you got on the wrong side of a galah wouldn't it take your finger off?
  2. hurray! i remember my first experience with my budgie, ahhh great times just keep rembering, it will get even better than this
  3. ahaha i love it Elly, lovely looking birds there sailor
  4. well i take him up to my room every day, i bring him out and put him on my duble sized bed with plenty of space, i dont have many toys for him to play with, but i give him a ball with a bell in it, a pen lid, a guitar pick, and occassionaly i give him carrot or corn, he seems to enjoy playing with his toys outside, and then sometimes he will lose all his energy and just sit and chirp. this has also brought up another question, when Bing is tired after being out of his cage for a while, he will sit down and lean to the side, with his left foot almost tucked up and him virtually lying flat, is this normal? thanks

lol thanks dave, by the way you put it it sounds like he is an addict, hehe i will probably go to the shops and get him some fresh new toys and mabye move his toys around, he only has two, the olympic rings and multicolour string shredder, should he have more?
  7. i was just wondering how long it took befor your budgies became comfortable with you, Bing is now comfortable with me for a good hour or so out of his cage, then he flies to his cage, which i interperet as him needing food so i put him in, he has a feed, then when he is finished he doesnt want to be away form his cage??? did this happen to you? P.S Bing has been with me for about 8 weeks and was a baby when i got him

hi, Bing has been putting holes in his newspaper alot now, it started about 3 days ago, he bites along the ridge in the middle of the fold of the newspaper and bites all down it, i can see bits of paper all over the floor, but i dont know if he is eating it? is it necesseraly bad if they are eating it?
  9. sorry KAZ to leave you disappointed but i dont have any recent photos of him, will take some within the next couple of days though
  10. okay um... seed, carrot about every morning if not every second, corn every morning or second morning and thats just about it, i am going to try broadening his diet now seeing as it is school holidays starting today ps. it is TRILL budgie seed
  11. sorry, i just wanted to know if Bing was okay, i hvae noticed on several posts that people say that there birds poos are the normal black colour with the white dot, but Bing's poos are brown almost carmel in couldr with the white dot... is this normal or something to be of concern? thanks

(Laughing out loud), exactly what Bing did when i first got him/her, got on the ground and paced back and forth for hours just thinking, well if i go over here, and then go back here then mabye a hole will open up, no, try again.... i think its called the great escape period good luck hes very cool
  13. sorry to be so paranoid, but how often should i replace Bing's seed in his seed bowl? its about 7cm by 4cm by 4.5cm deep and i fill it about 1.5cm full and empty it every morning and replace it with new seed, i was just wondering how often you are supposed to change the seed? one day? two? or can you leave it for a while? thanks in advance
  14. wow, Bing is quite comfortable with me now, he goes on my finger, comes out of his cage sits on my shoulder and sits on my chest when i lie down on my bed, i think the best thing to do is keep feeding him/her millet for about 1-2minutes constantly and slowly bring your finger up behind the millet, let him see its there but not so he can see it fully, then swipe it under his feet and continue to feed him millet  thats what worked for me the first time i got Bing to step up, good luck
  15. thanks everyone i guess there will be no play time after all, also i was wondering about car trips, it is about an hour drive to my cousins and i was wondering how i should transport Bing? like seed and water etc... thanks
  16. (Laughing out loud), this is exactly what Bing did when i got him/her, he flew out as i was putting in a calcium bell, lucky my dog was outside but he was at the glass door chasing it around and scaring the **** out of it! luckily my dad grabbed a tea towel, got him/her and put him/her back in the cage. however i am sad to say he didnt trust my fingers or hand for a while, but i gained his/her trust back and we are slowly forming a bond congrats on your new bud!
  17. thanks liv good to know
  18. hi there, i am taking Bing to my cousins for the easter long weekend, and she also has a budgie called Chirpy and is about 1 year and 2 months, i was just wondering whether it is okay to have them playing together and whether she will get angry at him/her for being in his territory? thanks

i'm not to sure about wing clipping, also i tried letting him come to me after waiting about hlf an hour and he still didnt come, so if that happens should i give in, also he is very scared of the computer screen and tv's etc, whenver the colour changes on the screen he/she flinches.

thanks everyone for your replies, i might try and rig up some sort of perch for my room next to the desk in my room, Elly, thank you for your wonderful advice as always, i dont really know what makes him scared, i think it is the fact that it is very quiet in my room, but i put the radio on to try and calm him down. but i can tell when he is going to fly away because he moves his head rapidly looking at everything. i have had him kind of chirp and warble to me a while ago, but now all he does is let out a quick cheep and stop. i dont really do anything to scare him, one minute hes fine and then he will fly and land on the blinds near the corner of my room. I have had him for 5-6 weeks now, and he has come a long way since. also, should i go and collect him every time he flies away, or should i let him come to me, because he calls like he wants me to come and get him, and when i dont he flies around the room just above my head and then lands on the curtains again trying to get my attention. Should i ignore him or go and get him? Also i have put a ball in his cage and he hasnt tocuhed it, its been about 2 weeks. Burdies, your lucky to have budgies settle in so quickly, good luck in the future. Neat, thanks for that i might buy a playground NickNack, thanks for all your suggestions, he will eat millet on the desk and seems fine, i have put bits of millet in the sides of the ball and he will eat the millet, but when i push the millet into the ball, he loses interest and just stops and stares. He has eaten carrot, but like millet better. and the sneaky bugger whenever i take the millet away form him and give him carrot, he will eat the millet that has dropped onto the desk, (Laughing out loud)

well i put him on my desk and give him a ball which he is **** scared of, so i shoved a few bits of millet in it and he starts pecking at the millet, but still hates the ball and doesnt touch it on his own, shoulsd i giv him some small figurines or something? what are some good items for him/her to play with? thanks

hi, just wondering if you have any tips to relax Bing when he out of his cage, he basically just sits there and doesnt do anything like he is scared stiff when i bring him out everyday. and i put him on my chest when i am lying down and he will come up and bite my lip, hard! is this because he doesnt like me and wants me to move? or is he just inquisitive? other than that Bing is doing well thanks
  23. benny looks exactly like my Bing and Bing also has brown wing marking but only on the very edge of his/her wings does that make him a cinnamon wing? they look very happy and i love the cage, have fun with your two little balls of fluff
  24. congrats on your new birds, may they bring you lots of joy
  25. (Laughing out loud), she looks like a cockatiel!
