I have finally got enough budgies now that i can put some pairs together for breeding. I have put 6 pairs in cabinets 2 weeks ago and one pair have 3 eggs but the other pairs have just started bonding and checking out the nestbox. Here are some pics of the pairs i have together at the moment. Lutino hen with a Yf green normal male. Cobalt normal male with a cobalt dom pied hen. Both recessive pieds. Green spangle hen with a lutino male. Cobalt dom pied male with a cobalt normal hen. Skyblue spangle hen with a skyblue dom pied male. They have 3 eggs and she never leaves the nestbox.

Fatty Tumours
Punky Brewster still has a lump but it is not growing bigger which is good. Ozzie was the budgie i took to the vets today and the other budgie is one i got given by a lady 3 months ago. The 3 are pet types so maybe it is just a genetic problem in pet types. Ozzie has become so placid that i would hate to lose him.

Fatty Tumours
I have just been to the vets with a budgie that developed a lump and have been told it is a fatty tumour, this is my 3rd budgie in the last 10 months to develop a lipoma. I am wondering what is causing this to happen, my seed mix consists of french millet, canary seed, panicum, japanese millet, panorama millet and hulled oats. Is there something in my seed mix to be causing the problem? The 3 budgies were originally rescued budgies that were given to me so no idea of past history. I also went to a new vet today and because there was nothing he could do for the budgie he did not charge me at all which was pretty great. He said it is a usually a problem for fat budgies but none of the 3 have a weight problem.

I'm Still Around , Been Busy.
Back again, my life still is very hectic, in the last month i have had several meetings with Jadons teacher and had another appointment with his pedatrician who has realised that Jadon has ADHD as well as the Aspergers but because he is still young he will not medicate him so we have to learn how to cope with him as he is. I have also just put 6 pairs together for breeding , my camera is broke so i cannot take photos but i am hoping it all goes easier this time for me.

Biting His Own Feet
I have moved him to a bigger cage and he has stopped doing it.

Biting His Own Feet
One of the new budgies i got yesterday keeps chewing on his feet, i checked him and he is missing a toe on one foot but it looks like a old injury. There is no signs of mites or scaly face so what could be causing this behaviour?

New Budgies
I got given 18 budgies today from a lady that does not have the time any more to look after them. A couple are a bit scruffy looking but she said they are old birds that she rescued and have always looked that way. There is a couple i am unsure of mutations so if someone can help with me that would be nice. My digital camera is broke so i had to use my phone so the quality is not good. What is the blues type? What is the green on the right? What is the green one?

I'm Still Around , Been Busy.
Thanks Kaz, have been spending lots of time lately trying to find the strength to cope with Jadon, it was much easier last year having him at home, now i have to deal with school issues and home problems. I have been enjoying the kitchen, much nicer to work in. My new budgies have arrived, some have health issues but i can fix them. I got given 18 and there is a beautiful lutino male which i have always wanted one.

I'm Still Around , Been Busy.
Hi Guys, Thought i would touch base seeing i have not been around much lately. I still get on and browse now and then but have been busy. In the last few months my husband and i have renovate our kitchen, we pulled the old one out and built a new one. We have also built a new reptile enclosure for my son's lizard. My youngest son is having issues adjusting to going to school , any changes in his routine affect him so i have been doing research and trying different things to help him. He is due to go back to the pedatrician next month who will talk about what options we have for him. I have also had a lady contact me who has to give up her budgies and would like to give them all to me so today i will receive 15 budgies and then in a few more weeks i will get more from her, she has some with babies at the moment. I have had to tidy up my enclosed room at the back of my house to make room to quarantine them and i am starting to work on making my avairy bigger to accomodate them. So i have been fairly busy lately, i have added photos of my new kitchen, turned out pretty good. Reptile enclosure

New ** May Contest ** All "others" But Budgies!
- My Grass Parrot Bubs
They are all beautiful birds, Hope you have luck in getting new bloodlines.- My Poor Puppy, Kacey
Molly is a tortoiseshell and Matilda my grey tabby is very lazy, must be something about grey cats.- Infertile Eggs
The hen only laid 3 eggs and they were all infertile so i tossed them. It is starting to get cool at night now so i am going to wait till september when the weather warms up before i do any more breeding and hope i have better luck then.- My Poor Puppy, Kacey
Kacey is all better now and feeling happy he does not have to wear a bucket so i thought i would show some photos of my cute puppy who is growing up too fast. My cats did not like him when i first got him but they are starting to tolerate him now when he is not chasing them. If we do not face him we can pretend his not on our bed.- How Can You Tell..
I would say your hen is a normal spangle as well, i have a skyblue opaline spangle. This is a photo of her.- Good Seed Mix For Underweight Budgies
Thanks Kaz and Dave, i have been giving them millet sprays and they love them. I have rolled oats in the cupboard so i will give them some and then get some other seeds tomorrow.- Good Seed Mix For Underweight Budgies
My budgies who I am treating for worms are underweight so tomorrow i am going to a produce store and get some seed for them. They cannot have vegies at the moment so i want to get some good seed to help get some weight back on them. i know hulled oats and sunflower seeds are good for fatting up budgies but what else would be good for them and about how much hulled oats and sunflower would you mix with other seeds?- Vet Trip- Watched A Budgie Autopsy.
I just checked the budgies and there is dead worms in their poo so the medication is already working. Yeah.- Vet Trip- Watched A Budgie Autopsy.
i knew when i bought the budgies that they had some problems, the breeder was selling them due to health reasons and admitted to me that he had not been caring for them properly. i still do not know why he was not worming though. He had 7 left for sale and i could not walk away and not take them and try to help them.- New Budgie Sick
I took the budgie to the vet and found out they have worms so i started another topic about my vet trip.- Vet Trip- Watched A Budgie Autopsy.
I took one of my new budgies to the vets this morning because one of the hens died last night before i could get her to the vet so i wanted to find out if the other budgies have the same problem as what killed her. I decided to try a new vet because i was not happy with the one i had been seeing. The vet put some poo under a microscope and got me to have a look so i could see what was going on. The poo was full of roundworms and roundworm eggs. The vet wanted to be sure that it was worms that killed the hen so i had to go home and get the budgies body and bring it back so he could do a autopsy. He wanted me to watch the autopsy so i could see what killed the hen and see how worms effect a budgie. I was lucky i had not had time for breakfast before i went to the vets. He found about 20 worms, all about 5cms long in the intestine. He did say that because there was so many the budgie would have been full of worms before i purchased her and the 6 others i have left are probably all infected with worms. Even though i did treat them with Ivermectin when i got them 2 weeks ago he say he would not have work due to how many worm eggs are in them. He has recommended i treat them with Piperazine which is a treatment designed just for roundworms. I still may lose more of them but i hope the treatment will work. I was so amazed when i went to pay for the visit, i was expecting a big bill with the test and autopsy but he charge me $30. During the autopsy he did a good check for any other problems but he said it was just the worms that killed her. I am so sad about the fact that it is easy to worm your budgies and just because the breeder i got them from could not be bother to do it i have budgies that are suffering now. It was bad enough when i saw them with scaly face untreated but now worms as well.- New Budgie Sick
The hen died last night but i am taking one of the other hens to the vet this morning for a checkup because her poos are not a normal colour either.- New Budgie Sick
The new budgies are in quarantine cages in my screen enclosed room which is 14 metres away from my aviaries. I have moved her into my laundry which has the door shut so she is not near any other birds now.- New Budgie Sick
One of the budgies i got 2 weeks ago is not well, she has sloppy green poos, fluffed up and not eating much. i rang the vet and i can get a appointment tomorrow morning. I have her in a hospital cage but what i am wondering is why would she be fine for 2 weeks and then get sick. None of the others are showing any signs of sickness. When i got them they all were a bit fluffed up and had dirty bottoms but it clear up within a couple of days and i thought it was properly due to living in unhealthy conditions. - My Grass Parrot Bubs
