  1. We don't have a lamp :S But his makeshift nest box is very warm and we live in Darwin where it is currently 31 degrees. We aren't using fans or airconditioners in his room at all. I also check on him 2 hourly and he has always been warm. Force feeding for another couple of weeks?!!?! I was hoping on getting some sleep. By looking at the photos he is at the age where he should not be needing night feeds, when i have handraised budgies i used to give them a last feed at about 10pm and then would get up at 6am and give them a feed. I also gave mine a little fluffy teddy to sleep with.
  2. Great Photos, i so wished i lived near snow.
  3. Great to hear that he is still going well. He will still require the force feeding for a couple more weeks because that is how the parents would be feeding him. Make sure his crop is allowed to completely empty once a day. Do you have him under a warm lamp?
  4. You need a new cage, the bar spacing should be no more than 1/2 inch.
  5. Glad to hear that your first year of breeding show budgies went well. Hope that this year is just as good for you.

  22. i have 2 3month old babies and they cannot fly and are very small. They seem to have no strength in their wings. i have 2 more babies from the same parents in a foster nest that are 2 weeks old and i have notice they are not developing as well as the other babies in the nest. Can parents pass on genetic problems that could cause the babies to be underdeveloped?
  23. I have a opaline hen paired with a spangle, i am not sure if he is carrying opaline but i am wondering if any of the chicks are looking like opalines.
  24. I finally have 2 other pairs breeding for me and they are going well. Both hens are first timings but the fathers are not. Here are some pics of my cute babies. 2 eggs were fostered into this nestbox and have hatched the same time her first 2 did.
  25. One of my baby budgies is 5 weeks old and for the last couple of days she has taken to perching on the nestbox opening. She even sits there sleeping but will not go out of the box. The mum has to push passed her to get into the box to feed the other babies.Should i encourage her to go out of the box or just leave her to do it herself?
