  1. None of mine have... but as the others have said, nothing to worry about... I guess mine are the 'guys' from yester-year... wam bam thank you mum, it's now the woman's job
  2. I thought it was about time to post some recent photos of my inside girls, Gucci and Dolce. I took them today as they were having a play with me on the couch. First, a few of Gucci showing you all how good she is at sitting on my finger (there were some of Dolce too, but they weren't clear enough) And now for some groups shots...

Great job!!! You must be proud of the hard work you have done and the reults will soon be seen! I looking forward to sitting back, relaxing and seeing it all apear!!! :star:
  4. It's a tough one Deb... mmm! One of my hens did the same thing, she also had trouble with egg binding. She did stop though. I'm also finding eggs in my aviary at the moment too. Not sure who they are coming from though... :star: I know the best thing is to reduce her daylight hours... as Neat said. Could you put them both in a cage in the Breeding room??? Cover them early... less daylight hours. Offer her plenty of calcium, maybe put it in her water or give her cuttlefish bone? I know my hens go crazy over it around breeding time. How is she health wise? And signs of tiredness, lacking in anything?? Other than that... I'm not sure. Hopefully someone else with more experience can help you.

Yah... I love gardening. Make sure you take before and after photos and post them for us!!! :star: In my 'mini' garden which I'm going to move into the back yard, I have herbs and rosemary in hanging pots... the girls love the ripping them up and rubbing their faces on them. Maybe you could have a section for stuff like this?

  7. Welcome! She is very cute... but despite the black ring, she looks much older to me (maybe I'm mistaken though). Remember to offer add lots of veggies/fruit into her diet too. I see by the photos you have her perches running length ways. If it were me, I'd ditch them, and get some smaller natural branches-gum, bottle brush etc... and have the running back to front. This will give her more room and encourage her to fly across the cage... not just scoot along the perch
  8. :ratty: ... poor you!!!
  9. Hi and welcome. Kudos to you for researching and looking into it before going out and buying something that doesn't suit your lifestyle. My personal opinion... would be if you get a budgie... you'd need to spend a decent amount of time with it daily... especially if it a lone bird. It takes time and patience to train and keep it trained. They do make awesome pets... but need daily interaction and quality time... If you can't give it that... I'd go for something else... Good luck and please let us know what you decide.
  10. :ratty: :ratty: I'm so glad it was you and NOT ME!!! :ratty: :ratty:
  11. Good tip from Kaz... Also be prepared for the possibility of a set back with his taming/bond with you. It often happens when you leave them. Although your Mum will get him out... it's not you, so he may be a little out of sorts when you return
  12. No worries... Good luck and let us know how you go and what you decide!
  13. Exciting and Stressful times ahead... good luck mate! P.S.... do we all get invited to the house warming??? :party0011:
  14. Spot on! I even remember my cat (RIP) used to eat it and it would pass through her and come out in the kitty litter... but with budgies their passages are some what smaller. Check out this site: My Parrot Shop. I buy some toys from here... but also get heaps of ideas from here too. They use safe products... and you can buy toy parts and hardware and make your own toys! I also use undied paddle pop sticks...
  15. Tinsel- they will chew bits off and it could become stuck in their throats... or build up in their tummies and kill them. I have some toys with rope... including perches... but I inspect them daily. I remove them often and replace. They are the shop bought ones.
  16. Hi and welcome. Good on you for taking the budgies. You mentioned earlier you would give them a box to hide in... they don't need one. This will encourage them to breed, which you don't need. Good luck with them... We have loads of information here, and be sure to ask anything. If it were me, I'd maybe keep them in a nice big cage. They have some at JJ Aviaries: JJ Aviaries/Petmania. BF2 is the one I have, and happily keep two budgies in mine. They are located in Sydney but may be able to ship it to you.
  17. Can you please post some photos of her breeding cage. We have been able to help many members with their breeding by looking at their set up and suggesting a few alterations.
  18. They are too cool Neat... I love the pink too!!! Funny thing is Elly... I actually thought about doing it myself not long ago... maybe I should not be so lazy and look for instructions on how to make one instead! Cheers!
  19. I can imagine..... hugs mate!
  20. It has been dismantled and labelled for easy rebuilding. The seller is also going to deliver it for free delivery. We will have to buy two extra poles thats all. BARGAIN!!!!
  21. Very cool Kaz. Do you have to dismantle it yourself?
  22. CLAUDE???? They are all so adorable LIV, you must be so proud! Claude is PERFECT!!! Thanks Maesie! WOOHOO!! they are all named now No worries.... Yah! No one has ever used any of my name suggestions before . They are a gorgeous bunch LIV, are you keeping them? I know I couldn't pick between them!
  23. Molly will have her hands/beak full. Just be sure to have some millet in her box, and plenty of fresh veggies and egg mix close by. Good luck with them all.
  24. Try taking the photos in natural light, with the macro setting you have used and NO flash. The flash makes it hard to see colours properly.
