  1. Charely is such a character! It is amazing how quickly he seems to pick things up, clever little budgie. I can (sort of) understand what you mean about 'off-putting' though, my tiel, Bumblebee loves showers, and so generally has one with me at night, but then he'll start wolf whistling from his perch atop the shower! But your very right, it is quite funny.
  2. mine are like yours...  :rip:
  3. That's really good news  . And I'm glad your fingers are getting a chance to recover too! Sounds like you have a busy day tomorrow, I hope you little bubs appreciate your effort (though if they are anything like mine, they couldn't care less and will take great joy in messing it up again  ).

Hi and welcome marcy, congrats on your new addition. Your best bet would be to check out the FAQ's, it has heaps of information. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/ Treat you budgie with the love, trust and respect it deserves and I doubt it will become a problem biter (they generally reserve that only for 'special occasions' ) Would love to see some pictures of your budgie.
  5. How are Crackle and co maesie? All still showing signs of improvement?
  6. That's so exciting! Only six more days, I'm excited for you . Can't wait to see those pictures!! .
  7. Well today I was looking for a big distraction and this was the result. Birdie Music Videos! They really arn't as lame as they sound! (Okay, well maybe just a little bit  .) The timing is off in the last minute or so of each vid, happened when I saved it as a .WMV, but you can still get the jist of it. Firstly: Skittles in: "I'm Too Sexy" Secondly: Bumblebee in: "Macho Man" (Ignore the misspelling of 'Bumblebee in the credits (Laughing out loud))

I agree, that is one awesome branch! I'm sure your budgies are going to have heaps of fun with it!
  9. I do the same thing Bea, we have alot of rainbow lorikeets and red-rumps around and it is great to watch them. Me too... we don't have birds as pretty as that, but they're still 'God's birds' (as my granny calls them :(Laughing out loud): ) Very true, all birds have their own unique 'charm' I think  .

Completely understand!!! You'd never know what you'd find (or not) when you got home . I guess it was just a pity my flock is/was unwell or I could have taken her straight away. However, I know Bec will take good care of her, and I too can't wait to see her in the avairy with her budgie friends!!! And yep... keep me in mind for others needing love and care  P.S. Bec, I've got plenty of newspaper if you need more for the bottom of the cage   Thanks maesie, the way she is going, I think I'll need it!
  11. Hi and welcome, as Elly suggested the FAQ's are a great place to start .
  12. Very sorry to hear this, I hope your little one recovers quickly.

  14. Hi and welcome Shan. I can't recommend any books, but Liv is spot on when she says you will get very detailed advice on this forum. I'd keep in mind that before you begin breeding, their or so many things you have to take into consideration. Money for vet trips, where the babies will go, to name two. You'd be best to check out the FAQ's they are full of useful information.

I'd put my money on the eucalyptus not lasting very long at all . Houdini will definitely be her nickname for sure! I think your ingenious name really suits her, so Olive it is . I will be sure to keep you updated and post lots of pictures.
  16. For five years, that's awful. I'm glad to hear she is happy now, she sounds like a very sweet girl .
  17. Hi and welcome. That is a very pretty budgie .
  18. Hey it's summer here in melbourne and I folded and brought them into the study as it's 9 degrees out side! It is suppose to be summer! They are all sitting down the bottom of the cage trying to catch the warm draft from the heating ducks in the floor I know, it's freezing! Well in comparison to the warmer weather we've had. When I got Artemis out of her cage this morning and she was trembling, but a few minutes of running around playing warmed her right up .
  19. Good to hear that Tweety and Runt are back to being friends . A tiel in a finch sized cage?! Poor thing wouldn't have had room to even breathe.

Fizzy is a little cutie .
  21. Everything said already rings true. But, I'd like to add my own thanks. I've only been a member for a few months, but even just after joining I felt so comfortable and welcome, and these feelings still remian today. I have learnt so much from everyone and I know my budgies are better off and leading better lives because of it. And it is fantastic to be able to go on and on and on about my budgies and other pets and not get an "Stop Bec! 3 hours of talking about budgies is ENOUGH!" Thankyou to the mods, members and all others, who kept this forum up and running smoothly, who offer their expertise, knowledge and past experiences (even though some are painful to recall) so that others may add to their budgie-knowledge. And thankyou to all for just being great friends, alot of us are seperated by great distances, but here we are united in our love for our budgies (and other animals).

Thanks guys . She really is a funny little budgie, today started off pretty much the same way, put some carrot and corn in, it was shredded to pieces (though some was eaten which is good), seed bowl was filled, promptly dumped on the floor (but again she ate some), she managed to chew a few holes in her blanket cover, then dumped the water bowl, that led to a change in newspaper (again) and more seed. She may destroy everything in site but she has real character. I'll have to give her a eucalyptus branch later.

Today I met up with Chrysocome (great to finally meet you ) and brought home Olive. She is the cutest little thing and I can already see she has a great personality. She attempted to escape her quarantine cage (lucky I had pegged all the doors), that kept her occupied for a good hour or so. Then she proceeded to jump in her seed and kick it *everywhere*, but that wasn't good enough for little Olive, she then chewed on the food dish, before removing it from the side of the cage and dumping it on the floor, so the rest of the seed spilled out. After that, she chewed up the newspaper on the floor of her cage, destroyed her carrot, chewed the perch, managed to knock the other perch down (how I'll never know, I wedged it in there tight!), broke the ball toy into its four seperate parts (so that's now 'in the shop') and then had a bath in her water dish . I love her so much already! Little Miss Olive "What is the shiny silver thing you keep sticking in my face?!" Just before the seed dish went bye-bye's (and you can see the knocked down perch) "I didn't make this mess, honest!" Chewing the other perch
  25. That's great to hear, well done :(Laughing out loud): .
