  1. I love them too... Her markings are soo much darker than all the spangles i have seen
  2. I just thought I would introduce the newest member of my flock. Lilly. I don't buy budgies very often any more, but this young hen caught my eye. I reallly like her dark markings
  3. I weakened hehe Here she is, I have called her Lilly
  4. Thats a very pretty budgie MB My memory is getting all scrambled - i would be no good as a witness looking at a lineup of criminals hahaha.
  5. Not exactly... From my memory the markings are dark and probably a bit thicker than those of your bird. I have to pop to the shops again in a moment, so i will take another look at her (never know i might even bring her home hahah)
  6. It's a green bird with markings like this (above picture) but the markings are much thicker and clear, not 'blurred' like the opaline spangle ... She is quite a nice sized hen too (in a pet shop)
  7. The budgie i saw today had very clear markings. perhaps they are good spangle markings rather than opaline ....???
  8. feathers are fine Most nest boxes get some feathers in there
  9. AAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWwwwwwwwww He is adoreable!!!! :D This photo is so cute hehe. Looks like he is following Josie around EVERYWHERE!!
  10. sounds like everything is going smoothly so far. Your hen will get an "egg bum" and will look swollen around her vent for a day or two before she lays an egg Keep us posted
  11. I have seen a pretty bird today and to me i looks a mix of opaline and spangle. does this mutation exist and What is an opaline spangle??? What do they look like?? Thanks in advance :hap:
  12. I have scooter who has rickets and needs his nails cut every couple of months. I use baby nail cutters and just take off the tip, just have to be careful not to get the vein
  13. Congrats on getting your place!!! The appliances look good. I have had to buy both a washing machine and a fridge in the last 12 months haha. I got a Westinghouse fridge (cant remember the capacity, but its beg enough for a family of 4) which is brilliant and it got it new for $999 (i haggled ) I got a fisher and paykel front loader 7kg washing machine for $750. I have always had a top loader before, but i love this one. The clothes come out clean and not too creased. The only downside is it take a long time for each cycle. I often do a load when i go to bed and hang it out in the morning I agree with BC (bird_crazy - why does it sensor your name ), get prices from lots of different shops. Here harvey normal is the most expensive place to buy whitegoods. I got both my fridge and washer from our local retrovision (who also sell white goods) Combined i saved $500 dollars and it really pays to shop around.
  14. the burning flame consumes oxygen in the room air, so make sure there is adequate ventilation
  15. Its not the gas that is the problems with these heaters, its the fumes they omit. they give off large amounts of carbon dioxide which is bad for anyone and very bad for budgies. We have a wall gas heater with an external flu that goes out the roof. I would use great caution with your heater
  16. I havent witnessed this before, I have seen them hold a piece of something with their foot against a perch, but i haven't seen them hold up something like a cockatoo does. which was how i interpreted the question
  17. depends on the type of gas heater, where it is and where Bing is in relation to the heater Is there a flu that vents outside ?? Will Bing be in a draft - gas heaters draw air in from outside causing drafts around windows and under doors.
  18. Hmmm, well since i don't have a breeding room, i think i will stick to what i know and start in spring. i loose very few babies and I'd like to keep it that way
  19. I know he looks older, but do i see barring on his head ???
  20. What are the complications of breeding in winter??? It's not something i have done before, but everyone else is talking about their breeding and new babies etc, it's making me clucky (for baby budgies that is... i have enough human babies hahahaha)
  21. **Liv** replied to a post in a topic in Budgie Talk
Is there a way you can attach the top to the bottom so it cant happen again??? Oh and when do you get the new cage???
  22. If the babies look anything like mum ----> she is pretty
  23. Hello and welcome Turbo is a very handsome boy- love his name - very cooooooool
  24. looks great - i'd buy it, just needs a good scrub
  25. I doubt its a sore wing. I see budgies do it all the time. i think its a bit of a stress reflex.
