- Budgie Breeding Help?
Hi Jodie, George and Lumina are just flirting - Is George singing and bobing his head as well?? these are all pre-mating behaviors. My understanding is that budgies only mate on a perch, and not in a nest box (or other flat surface)- Advice Needed
I am so sorry for your loss You have been given some great advice already by AV and Kaz. So i just wanted to say.... ...Hello and welcome- Hi, Lazy_budgie And I Are New
Hello and welcome I am also a mum of two and budgies make much better pets for kids than fish If you can post a picture we will be able to tell you gender and approximate age. I agree with Kaz that Lazy sounds like a young baby, which is great for taming I look forward to getting to know you and hearing all about Lazy. Liv- Um okay?
this behavior is quite common - the dad's mistaken the begging for food as an invite to mate When this happens i remove the male and leave then hen to wean the chicks- Violet Hen To A Rel Sire....
Thats okay. One of the Mods will come by and edit it for you. They will change the photos to links because they are too big - photo bucket should give you an option to shrink them to 640X480 I dont know where the grey gene would have come from I am not good with genetics - Rats Again
I agree. I used to have a lovely affectionate pet rat, Tempalton, who got killed one night by a feral rat who got into his cage Feral rats have no place here!! I would not let your hubby free him either - it will just go an eat Koockaburra eggs or other wildlife instead - Helping Out Your Pet Shop
I have never seen a desexed animal in SA pet shops before (but i have not been looking either) It's a very good idea and I hope it catches on more The added cost to the the pet is great and anything that reduced the impulse buy is a good thing by me :hap: All pet owners need to realise from day one that pets need more than just basic food and water and is not something that can be done on impulse.- Freak Out
Personally i always put new birds in the aviary in the morning. that way they have all day to explore it before having to roost for the night. I don't know if it holds any truth, but thats just what i do :hap: Good luck when she goes in- Rats Again
Yes, they do have rights! The rats that live out in the wild and don't kill our native wildlife (which most do though ) are free to live in peace. But the rats (and mice) that come into our land and kill our pets do not have the same rights! Getting rid of these rats is only self defence - not like we go hunting for them, just for kicks and entertainment. if that makes sence??- Violet Hen To A Rel Sire....
They look great :hap: Love the little lacewings. They grey one looks blue to me- Sad And Depressed Budgie(please Help)
Personally I would get him another boy. two boys get along much better than a boy and girl - a hen complicates things where two boys just hang out and have fun hahaha hens are actually quite bossy and it could give him more grief- First Cabinet Breeding
They look like they are doing great. The little one should be fine. some give them a little top up for the first few days if the parents are a little overwhelmed - i haven't done it before so i don't know the details of it though.- Sad And Depressed Budgie(please Help)
I agree. Remove the mirror and get a friend for him, budgies are flock creatures and need to feel a strong bond with others. Where are you from - there are some very good breeders on her would could help you- Rats Again
I hope so too these vermin have no place here in Australia- Freak Out
I think this was the issue she has always been in small cages and then my Patio cage then the breeding cage and now a MASSIVE aviary I think she just flipped and didn't get it. Hopefully she can adjust if she is okay tomorrow. Pop her in a smalll cage and take her into the aviary in it - open the door to the small cage (and peg it), then leave her there to make her own way into the aviary. it could take a while, but she should be a lot more calmer that way- Some Advice
I took my Latte and Cookie from the aviary at 5 weeks. What i did was when I brought them inside I brought their Dad in too. He kept feeding them when they were hungry, but i could hand tame them properly and stopped them going wild in the aviary It worked really well too- Freak Out
Oh I hope Mozzie is going to be okay. (((Hugs))) It tears at our hearts when these little creatures hurt themselves Hopefully she was just stunned. You have done everything right so far Is she allowed out to fly around in big spaces normally??? She may have gotten a fright with the amount of space she had in the aviary???- Introducing Agamemnon
Hello and welcome. Aggie is a very handsome boy.- My Aviary
yes I know that but you see I am one of these people who was like 2 that's all I am getting no more, I mean 4 yeah I am done... Oh well 6 cause MB has the prettiest pairs... no really 8 that's my limit I have to get an aviary now... argh well I now have 9 and really that's it excpet for the few more that I might get You sound just like me hehe - When i joined here last year i had 10 birds in my avairy and i said it was full - now i have 8 tiels and 37 budgies - I am always at my limit, but seem to find room for more- She Needs A Name!
She looks like a pretty blue/grey Names...Ummm.... Dusk, Storm, Shadow, Mrs Doubtfire haha- First Clutch
They are adorable - I look forward to updates - they get so cute as they get feathers- A Couple Of Sleeping Pics And George
Aww they look so cute all tucked up and napping- My Aviary
It looks bigger than mine, so depending on the amount of perches you had (and provided you were not breeding in there) you could probably put up to 50 budgies in there - less if you mix with tiels. - how is that for your limit - Budgie Breeding Help?
