  9. You can use any kind of cooking oil - olive oil is great. Just (naturally) keep it out of their eyes etc. Apply with a cotton tip in a thin layer. It will smother the mites and they will die - It's a good idea to repeat in 2 weeks or so to kill any eggs that may hatch.
  10. He's not too bad, you can treat that with oil. apply to the affected areas (including feet) twice a day for about 5 days  Most medications are available from bird shops, vets and fodder stores
  11. Hmmmmm... i dont remember, when i was in school i think. When was the last time you REALLY laughed so hard you couldn't breath?  :laughter:
  12. These things happen, i have a hen who got it recently, it can really sneak up on you. You'd be better getting some ivermectin to treat it. Oil isnt always as effective on more advanced cases I use Moxidectin to treat my whole flock every 12 weeks.
  13. Can you post a photo please??? Personally i don't like the powder insecticides. they get everywhere and can be irritating to the lungs. a spray is much better.

  19. good to hear We would all be very interested in what the vet advises
  20. you introduced a new bird who was also showing signs of illness (sloppy poo) to your other birds. thats not good. Please take your hen to an avian vet. You could loose all your birds if you don't find out what is happening.
  21. Green Poos can be not eating like MB said, or something far more serious. Use precautions like hand washing and clothes changing etc How are your other birds?? Also, have your birds had a period of time where they have had no food?

Thanks everyone again for your kind words. The kids are okay. Alex (4) said "It's okay mum, BG flew with his wings into the clouds to visit heaven" that brought a series of uncontrollable sobs to me. Kids
