  1. just a quick update... We currently have Duke & Duchess with 2 healthy bubs and a 3rd due today or tomorrow. Chick 1 is a normal blue series pin feathers and already banded. Zeus & Lady laid their first egg yesterday! I have two pairs of pet budgies in breeding cages as well: --Tenjin & Yoshe have 6 eggs --Roka & Bambi are in the nestbox, no eggs yet. And I've paired up 3 more show pairs this past weekend: Dusk (grey normal /cinn) & Precious (opaline spangle violet /dilute) - Brownie (goldenface sky brownwing) & Daisy (sky violet normal) - +This pair is already in the nestbox. Spazz (cinn grey green) & Hera (cinn light green) -

  4. can't wait until they hatch!!!
  5. some new photos... The Aviary: The feeding door: (I used an old cage front and zip-tied all three doors together and cut out the wires in between the doors to make one wide door for putting in the fresh food each day.) And the Junior Flight / Nursery that's upstairs: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x271/ra...uniorflight.jpg The Perch Rack:
  6. Thanks all! ... by the way I added some photos of them flying on the In Flight Photos section today.. theirs are on the bottom of the post. And here is another one of Tinsel:
  7. Thanks all! ... I'm using the new Cannon PowerShot S2 IS. By the way, Brownie is my Brownwing mutation stud that I'm trying to establish a new line for here in the US. And by request here are more in-flight photos!
  8. Great Job!!!! I LOVE the new look... makes me want to go add some to mine now..... hmm.....
  9. I've been testing out my new camera and managed to take some really nice in-flight photos of my birds... so I thought I would share them with you all... 11. Tinsel & Frost: Frost (42 days old): Frost (in flight): Tinsel (at 53 days):
  12. The tail is black. The breeder for Zues is a Judge from the ABS, but the bloodline goes back to O38 in England. Father: Grey Green --Grandfather: Green Normal /Cinn ----Great Grandfather: Green Normal ----Great Grandmother: Green Cinnamon --Grandmother: Grey Green ----Great Grandfather: Grey Green ----Great Grandmother: Grey Green Mother: Grey Green Cinnamon --Grandfather: Grey Green ----Great Grandfather: Green Cinnamon ----Great Grandmother: Green Normal --Grandmother: Green Cinnamon ----Great Grandfather: Sky Normal /Cinn ----Great Grandmother: Green Normal
  13. I agree with Kaz as well on all points.
  14. the cheek patches from Zeus are actually a very very dark grey, almost black... they aren't blue or even a dark blue. But he is darker than my other grey greens... maybe greygreen with dark factors? They have been in the nestbox and hen is throwing out the bedding so should have eggs soon
  15. I think this will be a great pairing to help balance the faults.. both have some really nice features.. together should have some great chicks.
  16. I have been trying to figure out exactly what the difference is between him and my other grey greens in body color.. he's MUCH darker in color, he stands out from the others in the aviary.
  17. oh wow, beautiful pairs.. I can't WAIT to see the results!!! good luck.
  18. good luck with them!
  19. Lady: Zeus: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x271/ra...s/000_2831a.jpg
  20. I love all of them... very nice birds. Especially love the coloring of Zebedee's daughters. And Junior looks so regal!
  21. they are all very nice birds... I love the violets the most of course!
  22. looks like she's stopped at 5 eggs... 1, 3 & 4 are fertile for sure... 2 I'm uncertain about (I haven't candled it yet but it's almost twice the size of the others).. and egg 5 is unknown. First egg is due to hatch in 4 days. I split up the foster pair (Dusk & Dawn) as she was comming out of breeding condition and not interested in another round after the chick is already in the nursery. I've already cleaned out the cage and placed another pair (Zeus & Lady) which were in season to try and see if they work out together. (grey green split cinn cock and cinn sky hen)
  23. I've given my budgies whole orange slices with peels on fairly regularly. Here in the US when we ship birds it is common practice among breeders to place orange slices with them when unable to supply fresh water for them to survive the trip. Mine love tearing up the peels.
  24. the yellowface sky looks like a great bird... I look forward to seeing your reports of that one on the show bench most of all.
  25. Daz, that info was very helpful... I had forgotten that my rec pied had the orange beaks and good to know that carries over in the DEC... which helps a lot. But the other info is also good to consider. Obviously knowing the parentage and test breeding is the factor most of us will have to go by, but it does help when trying to visually identify one without knowing that information on what other clues can be looked at (cere, feet, beak, eyes)... especially when there are exceptions to the "rules" as Daz's bird shows. Thanks!
