Yes, finches and budgies are seen as species who can't be mixed together... it's probably best to remove them ASAP before oyu have casualties

Thought This Would Be Interested
How: I had met a friend, through a friend of mine who was interested in budgies also, she was already a member of this forum and posted up some questions about one of my birds mutations for me, which inspired me to join and find out more info for myself. Why: Because I had owned budgies for many years and wanted to find out more about the care, breeding and mutations myself after my first clutch during the summer before. Now: I'm addicted to learning new things, helping others with the knowledge i already hold and it's generally a nice atmosphere to meet and chat with friendly people who have the same things in common with this hobby. Who do I have now? In the beginning i had around 40 birds and had bred 3 clutches already on my own before joining... Now i have around 100-120 birds with babies all over the place and a passion of hand rearing them for friendly pets... I'm just getting into show size bird breeding now and this forum is helping alot with the more experienced breeders in this area (Kaz, Norm, Daz) to name a few

I'm sorry to hear that

Nesting Boxes
I also use wood shaving, but if i have trouble with the hen dirtying her nest(especially the eggs) before they hatch because she's removed all the shaving then i add in seed husks

Another Petshop Heartbreak :(
I agree... we brang a bird home from a pet shop who couldnt fly (which we didn't find out until it got home) we rang them up and they said we could have an exchange... bob said okay, took the bird back and said what's going to happen to it...? they said they'd take it to the "vet" and it would probably be put down... So we kept her instead

Bizzare Question - Do Babies Feed Each Other?
I think it appears to be doing well Keep up the good work !!!!! Looks nice and healthy :hap:

Bizzare Question - Do Babies Feed Each Other?
Yes it's normal for babies to feed one another :hap: whether they actually are or just imitating the motions is another thing. If they're old enough to be fledging the harder seeds the dad is feeding them should be okay for them to be processing now. Keep them in the cage until you're sure they're eating then remove them to a bigger cage and hope the dad stays and feeds the little one in the old cage.... unless you want to hand rear him You won't have made the dad reject him so to speak, but he will be losing intrest in him because he's focusing on the elder chicks. Hopefully with them removed he'll divert his focus to the young baby if it's calls, just make sure it doesn't get cold without it's nest mates Do you have any pictures of this younger chick?

Aviary For Inside Budgies
