  1. it is bad as they're higher in vitamins and minerals than what a bird needs... and as they say there's too much of a good thing... Keep him to seed and fresh fruit and veg, he'll be much better off
  2. great photo's your daughter looks like she's having a wonderful time i want to join in! Lets hope the rain gives you some releif soon!!! fingers crossed!
  3. love the article you sent me Kaz great photos
  4. it's not hard unless they have grown their hard nails, the worst that can happen is a caught toe, which is easily un-latched from the ring... a broken leg or toe from a ringing would definatly indicate far too much force being used... so you'd hope they have not done that :S
  5. that's a worry, my boy honey is totally tame and with full wings, but like they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth... i wouldn't risk it, no matter how much i trust him... only clipped birds get outside priveliges at my house...
  6. make the spare bed Pie, because i'm moving in!!!! you live in your own nature reserve, i like it!!!!! I'd be in my element there
  7. Any updated pics of him to make sure he definatly is a cock since he's opaline?

they'rre so cute... you must give my apoligies to cabela though, until now i thought HE was a SHE :S I get so annoyed when people call my bindi a boy to stop the confusion i paint her nails
  9. my boy honey has also taken a fancy to my fingernails... so much so he "feeds" them like i'm his partner... it's quite revolting actually LOL! I don't think he's causing any harm, and as already stated, keep them clean Sounds like he's bonding well with you!
  10. I use club rings to remember all genetics and parentage.... the details are written down when the chick is rung... Before that i used split rings, I have alot of split rings and will probably end up using them For birds who won't be rung with I.D. but i still want to remember the year they're born.
  11. Must get a copy! :hap:
  12. Congratulations zebra on your healthy baby boy!!!! I'm sure it was all worth it in the end He's beautiful!
  13. Keep providing pleantly of food and water and leave the bubs with her. They're better off there than even the best of care humans can provide. If they're provided enough they should be fine considering she's gotten them to this age so far.
  14. yes plum and red are distinguishable, to the trained eye... Plum will indicate cinnamon, fallows still have the red eyes of the ino gene as they're Par-ino's
  15. Any pictures? This would help alot...
  16. Not strictly true. Some df spangles and also some ino's get what is called suffision. For the yellow based birds it appears as green on them. For white based birds it appears blue. And for yf birds some what blue or green, depending on the type of yf. The point is they're not Meant to have it though lol
  17. Only presuming they're RED and not PLUM
  18. Ino's still get iris rings Liv And for elmo, i'd also agree with Dave
  19. Hen from me also, even from a far picture i can see the rings around the nostrils :S
  20. basically we just nail a 70% visablity doubled over sheeting of shade cloth across the front and leave the sides, they were being quite loud last night too so bob put it up again we also use it when it's overly windy... three nails into the wood pillars around the aviary holds it up... and it comes down in the morning i'll take a pcitures sometime, basically it covers the top half of the aviary only
  21. I'll get the front wire of mins for you, and the floor infront of it but it my take me a little while to get it
  22. by body markings i'd say it's a spangle yf2 recessive pied...
  23. i see a spangle recessive pied
  24. It was absoloutly ridiculas the amount of noise they were making! If i were my neighbours i'd hate me!... heck i did hate me! lol! 100 budgies within 3m of my window, chattering away all night was NOT cool! Plus the babies in the cabinets kept calling !!! argh!!!! *pulls hair*
  25. he's down atm paired to my huge lutino hen, but once he's finished, and she's healthy, feel free tot ake him if you want... i don't really have many birds to pair him to
