Budgie Seed
I have most of my perches up the back of my avairy and my seed on the ground in the front. I also have my seed bowls in a kitty litter tray so that it all stays in there. Have not had a issue with it getting wet as i have wooden boards under it. I have not had a mouse issue but I think that might be more due to my Dogs then anything else

Hi All
congrats and welcome to the land of being owned by a budgie! Read Ellys article it is great I forget how many times I have ready it! Ask lots of questions everyone here is aways really to help and please don't think cause you have a female Budgie that she will never talk, I have known female Budgie that chat along, granted not as good as male Budgies but they can do it if you really want them to.

Only I Would Go On A Romantic Weekend
So my OH took me away from the weekend. I had mentioned to Ivan that I was going away and he gave me the address of another lady that he knows that does Aviary clean out and told me where she was. So we see the signs on the way home and stop, I was a little grossed out of the condition that the bird where in to tell you the truth but they where cheap. She had some really nice little pied pet types and some poor little guys that look really beaten up and my OH kept kicking me to stop me from taking them all home but there was one pair that caught my eye right down the back. Both have 05 rings on them so they are not that old but i do really like the cock. It was $20 for one or $20 for two to I then found the grey opline hen and took her as well. I felt sorry for all the guys I had to leave there but I do like what I got. I am hoping that she just got a bunch in and is over stocked..... Anyway onto the pictures The Cock - Sorry he would not sit still, and yes he does look fluffy in the second picture but he is not really, after about 15 shots I figure it was not worth stressing him anymore just to get a good picture. I really like his size and the brightness of his colour. Any suggestions on what I should put him to? The Hen - Not over the moon with her but I do like her size she is a big hen so hoping if I put her to one of my smaller normal grey guys I might get some bigger chicks however I only think she has two maybe three rounds left before I let her live out her life in my avairy unless she proves to be a great mum and has no issues laying I might play her by ear.

New Picture Of Morgan
okay lets start for the top again. Your hen is about 5 years old and has always laid eggs right? If so make sure she has plenty of Calcium in her diet. Also make sure that you restrict certain veggies as they will stop the calcium doing it's thing (can someone else post a list of veggies that stop calcium from being asorbed) If she is a egg layer then there are a few things you can do. Try getting some fake eggs that way you can leave them in the box/cage with her and hopefully will stop her from producing more. I would also remove the nest box from her cage, I know she nests on the floor but at least this will hopefully change thing up a bit. Also change around her cage every few days to a week, rotate toys in and out, keep her so busy on exporing all the new fun things she has that she does not have time to think about laying eggs. This may or may not work but for a few bucks might be worth a try. Any other tips from other breeders to help stop a hen from laying? Now your cock is about 7 months right? So he is to young to be a father so if you have a ability how about putting them in cages side by side. Then you can take them out of the cage for time together just make sure that no funny stuff goes on . That way they can still be friends but hopefully you will not end up with a toy boy as a dad and a granny as a mum. In about 4 or 5 months when he is older and if the hen has stopped laying eggs then if you want you could put them back together and monitor the situation. Another handy hint is if she likes laying eggs on the bottom of the cage try her in a cage with a grate on the bottom, most hens do not like sitting on this and will not lay eggs on it. try and remove anything that looks like a nest. This may or may not help but it's a start. Please keep us updated with process. Also remember calcium calcium calcium for your hen it's the most important thing.

Anyone Want To Help?
hey for some reason the link went wonky for me got lost of *%&^%% in the middle of things and a bit of wingdings so I gave up on grammar and spelling and just tried to read the article. It was good, a little dry as I could care less about the subject matter but I am sure that dairy farmers would read it and like it. Hope that helps

First Meeting
You will find a mix, I found that those who ran the club got very excited about me being there (yeah I know they just want my money) and then some of the older breeders sort of ignored me. But most people are friendly, most disagree with you over something and as long as you treat the whole thing as a learning curve and not a personal attack you should do great.

I think you are right

Fresh Leaves
Flame is like this she ignores the fresh branches and then goes nuts on them when they dry out. Guess it comes down to personal taste

Lumina Has Scaly Face?
Really neat? How so, I have been told to use it on the back of the neck one drop. Buddy tipped a bottle over myself and him, I gave him a bath but have seen no ill effects. My Vet tells me I can use it once a week if I really want so as long as you get it mixed for Budgies then I see no issue. Most vets can do this or can put you in touch with a vet that can.

Woohoo! Yayyyyy! Yipee!
