  2. really only about 12 I don't like using the bottom level or the top level if I have to I might start but if I don't then I will just use the middle sections.
  3. I am going to get my avairy clean out cherry popped! Ivan who does these pretty much every weekend just rang me. He has been asked to come and do one however it's only for a small aviary and 15 - 20 bird and only one is believed to be show rung. Normally he does clean outs with 200 birds so this is small fry. Also the avairy is a 6x3 and about 6 foot high so small in comparison so he thought of me and said if I wanted to do it then we could sort something out. So if all goes to plan on Saturday i will be picking up an avairy and a bunch of birds. Then re set up the aviary at my house put the birds in it and try and work out what I am going to do with them all Ivan said he would take some and i figure MB could always come shopping at my house, also anyone else in melbourne looking for some pet types let me know. I figure they are going to be half wild but will see what happens when I get there. let you know more over the weekend.

Also have a small bar fridge to be moved in and the feed bins and the quarantine cage because I am going to put all the Quaratine guys int here for the next few weeks to get them out of the house and then do a complete clean put everyone in the avairy for a week or two and then at the start of september put my first pairs down. I am done
  7. Here you go and they post Flight cage off e-bay - Item 350081944120 Good size for one Budgie unless you want something bigger. I use these as breeding cages as do many forum members I also think this is the same as Cage A you where talking about. with stand item # 350075716171 Or this one item # 350080963984 - not sure I like the top of this one so much
  8. Just found this what a great idea thanks for sharing
  9. Massive Hugs what a terriable day.
  10. One of the reasons I loved Wizard was that if it sat there for a year and did not get used then it did not cost me anything
  11. She is his third... but shhh we will not tell her that
  12. What? When I thought she was black that was kind of cool but to be purple.... now there is a car I could fall in with!
  13. Dude you have a purple herse! I am so going to come steal her!
  14. I know that scared me caus normally if I put the mirror in there he would not let anyone near it and would spend all day with it, it has these counter bead things on it and some other dangly things and he plays with them all and really just would spend all his time with it so he only got it for short periods of time when I was going to be away or he was being left along for the night so that he had something to keep him busy so when he looked at it and went "huh mirror.. oh well" I was almost in tears but now he is getting back to his old self.
  15. Lino finally went down today..... Only one issue was happy pottering around when all of a sudden I smell something really strange I go out to the back yard and follow the smell to the breeding room... the guys told me that they where not going to use glue but the tape, well the tape did not work so they started using glue the stuff gave me a headache I hate to think what it was doing the the Budgies to I screamed the the guys to stop, closed all the doors and caught all my guys from the avairy and moved them to holding cages and put them around the other side of the house. I shut up the house and move the quarantine guys to the laundry and aired out (with a fan the front rooms before shutting them up so that the fumes would not get through. Either way it's now done, 24 hours before I can walk on it, a few days to move everything in and then on Sunday i will have a functional working breeding room! Will post pictures later tonight or tomorrow better get back to work now.
  16. Well they are not common over here and they are a matching set being black and white! Glad she is home safe, here is hoping with some TLC she will be great!
  17. sometimes you can see who is bidding and other times you can't it is how the seller sets it up I think
  18. That is what I thought but then got confused. Should be find for a quaker as the teil is happy in it and the quakers have a bigger head. I only put like a $5 bid in so if I get it go me if not then not really an issue. think I might need a bigger cage for a quaker anyway
  19. He had pin and blood feathers above his cere so that in the light his head had a pink tinge to it. Basically all the feathers above his cere came in as blood feathers and pin feathers so it looked like he had a red head for a few days. he is now preening himself something he has not done for a week! Yipppeeeeeee
  20. okay a friend of mine just got her tiel a new cage from e-bay for... $1.00 plus $20 in postage the cage was this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Brand-New-Large-Bir...1QQcmdZViewItem In case the link does not work the item number is 130242347734 My question is would this be a good size for a Budgie or is the bar spacing to wide? Would it be a good size for a Quaker Parrot that got lots of out of the cage time? If I can get one cheap then maybe look at getting it. the other option was to use it as a holding cage for my Budgies before I put them now to breed. PS the seller has three lots going at the moment, I have bid on one so if you want one as well please don't bid against me Also anyone looking for some cheap smaller cages to use for breeding in melbourne try this item # 130242347734 five small flight cages plus stand
  21. Some of you might remember that I had Storm the egg smasher in with Harley. Well i chucked her back in the avairy and since then Harley has been really depressed. I have brought in cage mates for him even Blue (his best friend) however nothing has worked. Harley somehow broke a bunch of his flight feathers and is now going through molt on of the worse I have ever seen on him. At one stage the whole front of his head looked red. I gave him extra Vits in his water I even took him to the vet and got him a vit A shot, added some different seeds, gave him lots of fresh veggie but nothing seem to snap him out of it. I even gave him back his FAV mirror (yes i know he should not have had one but he loves it so) and nothing. So he now looks miserable... he is showing every one of his years and I was starting to fear that I would lose him Anyway was moving some birds around in preperation of my breeding room being finished by the end of today and I caught Storm by mistake on a whim I have put her back in with Harley. There has been such a change, he is parading around his cage, singing to her and trying to feed her, lots of "kissing" and other general matting behaviour... so I guess he just wanted his girlfriend back I figure that if she makes him happy then I will try and keep them together even if she does smash egg. I might give them another try at breeding later in the year and just try to get to the eggs before she smashes them but otherwise i think I will just set them up in their own little house and let them live their lives out in sin...
  22. he is, one of the reason i decided to go with the breeders is that the lady who has the bird has never owned a bird before him. So everything she learnt about taming him she got form the breeder. I liked the way the breeder has to approve you and the bird has to approve you i think I might find a good pet through here and also gives me breathing room.
  23. Well i did it! No I did not buy one. I got put onto a breeder who hand rasies quakers among other things. I meet one of her birds tonight that she "adopted" out to his new family. Is very cute you shoot him and he falls backwards and makes gargling sounds.... I then spoke to the breeder she will start breeding Quakers around Dec and will put me on the waiting list. I can come down and pick a baby when they are hatched and then I have to be interviewed by the parrot before it can come home with me The breeder has been great, offered me DVDs about training and showed me websites and then spent about 20 mins trying to talk me out of getting one before she would accept my name on the list. She also wants to come see my set up. She has cages for sale so if I get stuck between now and then I can get one through her and they are not bad price wise. The great thing is that I have the option to remove myself from the list if I decide that it is all to much, gives me a few more months to really think about it but know that I can get one from a good source that has a name. So maybe next year my little brood will be getting a slighty bigger addition.
  24. I have heard that the Hens can get aggressive towards each other in a single sex avairy. For my pet types I want them to pick their partners so a mixed avairy is required. Hmmmm now how to convince my sister to let me put in another avairy and some flights.....
  25. Does that mean I get to buy another avairy? Untill my flights are fixed then I guess they will be in holding cages... hmmm might get another patio cage so then I have two larger ones.... Later down the track i think I am going to need to either get another avairy or build my flights in the rest of the garage! :hap:
