  1. thanks Kaz will look into this one
  2. Is that a phone or a camera? Does it hold and play MP3's? Sorry that site kept spazzing out on me and would not work so I got all the camera info but no info on it being a phone
  3. I sort of aim for just above their "shoulder blades" don't want it to him up high enough that they can't reach around and preen the area. I believe that a bird can breed with SM but I would not personally. Also it might be why her cere does not show the change to breeding condition.
  4. I am thinking about getting one but not sure. Anyone got one? Any issues? Any suggestions? I really need something that links to my computer and I can sync my calender and contact with my phone. So suggestions welcome.
  5. Not the worse case I have seen but yes getting bad. One drop should do. Do you have a vet near you that will make you up a bottle? Some pet shops might sell it over here you can get it in produce/feed stores as well. Just make sure you don't give them to much, make sure you have an eye dropper and one drop under the feathers on the back on the head.
  6. So cute! thanks for sharing
  7. Call your local vet they normally have ivermectin they can make up a bottle for about $10 it's just one drop to the back of the neck every three months. However if they have it bad then one drop every week for three weeks and isolate them from the rest of your flock. Sometimes if you have a good pet store near you they might have some and you can bring the bird in and they will treat but that is ONLY if they are a good one and know what you are talking about. Otherwise you could also call any breeders that you know in your area, I was going to offer to send you some but I don't think they will let me
  8. I think that she has had the last two months just being totally stressed out! It would be hard for an avairy bird to all of a sudden be caught shoved in a box to the pet store, re caught back in a box home to a new home then a whole bunch of people trying to touch her not to mention change of food then back in a box to my house then back to the store, again being grabbed everytime. Then finally back to my house in a new cage and then again back in a box down to Ivans her nails clipped and back again to my house and really she is not very happy but she has settled nicely in the past day or two. I hope she keeps up going as she is not a bad hen. As for her owners they took teo of my budgie books and decided to change some things around (like move the bird out fo the kitchen) they are willing to learn, they started strong but do way laid by a petshop owner who was just trying to make a sale
  9. Try some of the spot on scaley mite treatments it is normally one dose and alot less stressful for the birds.
  10. silly little things aren't they! Glad it worked out.
  11. Thanks guys, before I took the picture poor girl had been taken back and forth and grabbed out of cages so she is all ruffled and really not happy and I would say stressed. She has settled today and looks 100 times better. As for the lady they researched cages and got the set up but listened to the pet store on what to feed the poor girl so i have given them more info and will work with them. Don't worry not going to give my babies away to just anyone.
  12. she now has three, two that are hers and one that is a foster out to her, funny thing is the foster one is about twice the size of her two as it is from a show type and she is a pet type never knew there was such a difference in size.
  13. Thanks Liv, she is in fact in good health only issue is she is really FAT got a high oats diet and lots of honey sticks so needs to lose some weight. She also has just come out breeding condition I think (so does Ivan when he clipped her nails) I do like her, would I have purchased her might not have but hey i don't have another one like her. Hopefully the lady and her kids will like one of my pet types they are instrested in birds and did their research when it comes to cages they have shelled out alot for the set up but fell down with what to feel the bird and how to pick a good one. hopefully with some education they will be happy and well informed budgie owners. Also I gave her the link to here so hopefully she will stop by.
  14. Let us know how you go, sometimes it is really silly little simple things. here is hoping that is all it is.
  15. Ha you have a Lemon and Lime as well i think that makes three for the board. Nice looking birds can't wait to see what happens with their babies
  16. Oh wow really? I never knew that. okay well thanks. Flame is sitting on it with her other egg (the size difference is strange as it's form show types and flame is a pet type) if I get any more eggs from the other and the hen starts to sit then I might move it back. thanks for the info
  17. Liv I believe that hot food can caught bloat in budgie but I might be wrong.
  18. Hmmm how long did it take to come up? Has it been slow over the 2 weeks or has it just come up in a few days? I would be gowing with growth but how does it feel, is it hard or soft and sponge? I would be getting that looked at by a vet personally. Hope it works out.
  19. Glad they can do something about it. Pictures would be great. I hope it all works out for you, *hugs*
  20. okay I had a hen lay one egg on the floor of her cage and then one in her nest box in the space of 12 hours. I was going to put egg A in with egg B but when I went to do this I found that she had smashed egg B so I marked the egg and put it under Flame who is sitting on one and working on her next. I am not sure the egg will be viable but I thought it was worth a try. Did I do the right thing? Any suggestions?
  21. Try covering the cage it might work. Also do you have any other pets that could be waking them up? Is there light from a road that could flash into the area they are in? Are there any flashing lights or standby lights they might be able to see? I know a lady who's budgie was fine for years then one day she moved her couch and he would wake up in the middle of the night and see the standby light of the TV and freak out, couch got moved back no longer an issue. Sorry that is most likley no help.
  22. So I am wondering around doing my birds today and there is a knock on the door I am in my PJs in my garage/breeding room so i go out the front and there is a lady with a bird in a cage. Long story short, she bought the bird a few months ago from a pet store they told her the bird was only about 5 weeks old (she has a green leg ring so lie) anyway she is a big nasty hen who loves to bite and the kids are now afraid of her. She took her back to the store and they would not take her back. She then heard about me and brought the bird to me as the RSPCA told her that if she handed it in there would be a $30 fee (more then she paid for the bird) and the bird would be put down. So I go to the store with her, I explain the situation but no avail. I then spoke to the lady and her kids and it was decided that while she tries to sort this out the bird can live at my house. The hen named Lucy has the LONGEST nails I have ever seen on a bird so going to have to work out how to clip them or call Ivan and see if he can do it. She is not a bad hen (I am pretty sure she is a hen) Anyway if we can't get a resolution with the pet store then when some of my pet types are born she and the kids can come and pick one out and I will make sure it gets extra taming. Picture spam
  23. Neat read this -> http://www.simplesavings.com.au/radio/?month=2006-06 (go to the home page you can get the print out there) yes it does work sort of, my sister and I got down to about $30 a week for us the Budgies and the Dogs tipped us over. Also I found that I need to get better quality fruit as there are alot of things I can't eat like pasta, bread & rice My List - turn things off at the power point. - Use a lamp to light a room rather then the overhead lights, - cook with gas rather then electric (if you can). - I always pay bills on time and if there is a discount for paying them by direct debit then i do that also some bills charge a $2 bill cost for paper bills so I go for online if that is the case. - I take my own bags when shopping (my local shop charges 10c per plastic bag) - I buy in bulk from a butcher. - I try and shop after 9pm to get the markdowns which occur at this time - Check the use buy dates, if they are close then I ask for a discount (they hate me at my local safeways) - I shop online (EzyBuys has great clothes and offers free shipping a few times a year) - I don't push my car over 4 revs if I don't need to (I found out by changing the way i drive then I can get an extra 80 km out of my tank and I use a tank a week so that's alot in a year!)
  24. Opps caught her in the act! Went to put them to sleep and thought I would check on them opened the box a tiny bit to peck in and got sight of an egg half way out! I think i am just going to leave her to it and only check if she comes out of the box so not to distrupt her to much. on another note they two guys in the old fashion boxes are laying eggs the others are not so intrested in my new fangled plastic boxes... hmmm may have to re think this a bit!
  25. I try the $21 a week challenge. There is a website somewhere sorry can't find the link about feeding a family of 4 for $21 a week. You can print out the booklet has great tips.
