  1. Right, I'll put some spray millet in the cage right now. Any good recipes?
  2. Is there any way I can make her gain some weight back? She's pretty busy giving all that food to her babies.
  3. Huh. Now that you mention it that does make sense. o_o She does need lots of food isn't it? strange I didn't see her eat that much today, but then again I have lots of things on my mind (Gastroscopy tomorrow. Waah!!! I don't want a camera down my throat.) and I was playing a lot of video games... And Pat must be stuffing her crazy! I did notice she lost some weight too. Do you think that's a concern?
  4. I took another picture... I dunno if it's because she looks crappy, but I think her chest is much bigger than it should be. At least, it is if I compare her to Pat.
  5. Well I think she's moulting but I'm not sure. See, that's the spot where she ripped feathers off her chest... Do you think it's just a swell? It still has me worried... with the babies and all, what would happen to them if something happened to her?
  6. I think I might be getting paranoid, but I just looked at Bud and somehow I think her chest is bumpy. I grabbed her and took a look at it, it seems to be blueish underneath her feathers (It's hard to tell, she wriggles a lot.). I wish I could take a better picture, but that's all I got... What do you folks think? Would there be a reason to worry? I think I'll try to get a better picture...
  7. Now why didn't I think of that first? Consider it done.
  8. If you remove the eggs, won't she just lay again?
  9. Well I'm the type of person that despises heat, so yesterday was really not a good day for me... But today it's 21... Temperature does fluctuate a lot in Canada! And thanks folks, I'll try my best to keep 'em cool... But it's not easy. Eep.
  10. He's so pretty. I hope he'll get even better!!
  11. I tried looking for Bea's problem and I couldn't find it... This search engine doesn't accept "hot" for a keyword and that doesn't help! Anyway, I'll be sure to leave the poor thing alone. I don't think she had it that bad last summer (Now that I think about it, it might be the first time she experiences overheating)
  12. Well we certainly don't have heat waves all the time (The cheap thermometer I have says 31C at the cage) but sometimes summer is tricky here... Do you think it is problematic right now?
  13. Well there's no ceiling fan... The cage is in the living room. All we have are regular fans there. I did start up the ceiling fan in the kitchen though, there's a big opening in the wall between the two rooms. I put some lettuce in the bath but... she didn't even look at it and went back in the nest still panting. Aaah, my poor babies :\ It must be hot in that box too. EDIT: Well it certainly isn't 42C... It's 30C outside (Yes, this is Quebec for real) so I guess it's like 34-35 in here. I thionk I have a thermometer somewhere... And there is a vent on one side. Looks like computer fan slits.
  14. Well, I dunno what ways I could use... I put the bath in the cage, but she never uses it. I tried using a bottle spray but whenever I spray one shot she runs back into the nest... And I bet a fan is a bad idea uh? :\
  15. It's the second time I see Bud do that... She jumps out of the nest and separates her wings from her body a bit... She also seems to be panting (Beak open and breathing quickly) Is it because she's hot? It is a pretty hot day in here...
  16. Thanks folks! Third baby is in dah house! Look! They're having a group hug! :grbud: ^ That one's a picture I took yesterday. Just wanted to show to someone how big the first baby got in just a few days! Wow...
  17. I just adore this one! So pretty! You have great birds...
  18. #2 is here! Was born somewhere early morning or during the night. The eggshell is still around (They ate the other one.) Wow, if you compare the two, you can really see how fast these babies grow. #1 is just a couple days old! That's really interesting. They'll be neat babies in no time. :bluebudgie:
  19. Thanks Keet! I took a second peek later on and seen the tiny brat crawl over the eggs, that was so freakily cute! It's like a tiny wee munchkin chicken! Darn! I'm hungry now. But I'm actually hoping a couple will fail, that's so many folks to take care of. But oh well, if they all hatch there's just gonna be LOTS of babies! I hope she won't have troubles feeding all the kids.
  20. it's pretty early, so nope. I'm not even sure that's the one I'll be keeping (though that being the first one I feel it is special...). I'll wait and select the one I want when they'll be older. The others will not stay, so I won't name them. ...But well, its unofficial name is "Coco". My mother decided that she was calling it that way. But I think that's ugly.
  21. Thank you!
  22. You think? I think it's the ugliest thing ever. But still cute in the "newborn" way I guess, heehee.
  23. Look! Look! The first chick is really born! I'm so happy
  24. Really??? Well that's a part I didn't know. I thought she was nervous or having a really bad big molt. I was far from thinking it's on purpose! Thank you
  25. Hey, I just took a look at Bud (Whom laid Egg #8 yesterday. Oi oi oi!) and I noticed she has a spot on her chest where she has no feathers. There's a lot of pin feathers in the area though, so I was wondering, is it normal that there's some naked areas while a bird is molting? Somehow I never noticed one in the last molt she had...
