  1. Hi Macka, nice to see you here, Hey I am on 15 points already, just from 2 shows, so I only need 15 more points to go into open but i don't want them because I am not ready for open yet, it is very hard. I think I would like to stay in Intermediate for a year or 2, but I guess we will see what happens, I think I might retired that bird now. He has shined and I don't think he could do much better.
  2. Thanks Gb it was a super day. I will see what I can do about pics tomorrow, the flight cage is just one of those wire breeding cages but I will take a photo for you. I have NO birds for sale at the moment I told them I will see what I breed this year but it was still nice to be asked.
  3. Happy Birthday Ratzy, I hope you have a lovely day.
  4. Thanks Kochy23, tomorrow the last wall goes on and the rest of the painting. It is looking great.
  5. Hi all today was our club show, The Kyabram Diploma Show. I had a great day. I won best Adult cock in Intermediate with a DF spangle and best Adult hen in Intermediate with a double factor hen. (brother and sister) The cock went onto to win best Adult in Show and then he went onto to win Grand Champion in Show. I was totally blown away, couldn't believe it. I won 3 show cages with the new fronts and perches and a few drinkers and mason jar feeders and jars plus my beautiful sashes. I also won the raffle again, I won a wire flight cage with all the accessories. Boy did I have a great day all totally unexpected. I didn't do very well with my young birds but I new I wouldn't. I am hoping for next year with my young. I also have some interest in people wanting to buy some good birds and pay top dollar, so it is all happening. I am on cloud nine at the moment.
  6. Thank you Kochy23, i hope you do too, I have had an unbelievable start to the hobby.
  7. If there is NO standard for suffused how come it is in the Australian National Budgerigar Council "the Standard" on page 39. in Other Varieties
  8. I have them here Squeak and am having a go at breeding them, most breeders use them for their greywings. This year I am putting suffused to suffused and see what happens. I have bred a few splits last year.
  9. Thanks Kaz, I can't wait to put the birds down, hopefully by the end of next week. Having problems with the show team because they are all in the one aviary together they are fighting, 2 brothers have decided they want the same hen and yesterday morning I was out there looking at them and the brothers were chasing apecking at each other in between chasing the hen and then it was all out war, they were on the floor going for it, both birds are 2 of my best and the cobalt spangle was the one that got reserve Sunday and I am hoping he will do well Saturday, not if this keeps up. The hen did well Sunday too. I had to take the hen out to stop the fighting. I think they birds are all ready to go down. The old breeding cages are going into the new birdroom this year and after the breeding season I will make new ones. It's a shame that I have already painted them CREAM instead of white. Thanks Squeak I am very happy with it.
  10. Well I bought my lutino cock for my clearbodies to find that he is split greywing, how annoying is that. Hey squeak I think suffused are a lovely breed. As for violets we already have them at our shield and the classes are getting bigger every year. I have to admit that I would welcome AOSV Spangle because I tend to get opaline spangles a lot and the judges do not like them. They should add cinnamon spangles too as another class. lol
  11. Pictures of what we have done so far. this is my $4.00 single pantry. I have only gave it a quick clean need to do more yet. Hopefully walls will be all up by Friday and painted by Sunday, Have our club show on Saturday.
  12. I tend to agree with this RIP, I have seen 2 budgies on different occasions smash into glass windows in a certain large pet shop. They flew from the back to the front smashing into the glass. The shop is huge so that had a good speed going, they smashed and landed on the floor then got up and flew again but I think they were dazed, they probably died later on from shock or bleeding into the brain as they differently didn't break their necks.
  13. I thought suffused or dilute is already a National class or maybe it is a class of our shield and is to go into the Nationals soon.
  14. What 6 classes, i know the violet class is meant to be coming in soon as we here in Victoria have been trialling it for 3 or 4 years now at our shields, It has been a scoring class for 2 years now us still not at the Nationals. I believe that we Victoria try and test things before other states. this is what I have heard and I could be wrong. BUT i have now heard of 6 NEW classes. I know this year and next year they are trialling the the 3 birds that go to the Nationals to been shown as normally the 3 bird stays behind the scene and not seen.
  15. Gb on your windows put some white tape or masking tape across them in a cross, the birds will see that it is a window, I draw wire lines on mine in the breeding cages because they were smashing into it too but the lines stopped the, I just used a black Permanent marker.
  16. Thank you Finnie. I am glad you went Gb because you had a great day. I have our club show on Saturday and again I really don't want to go but i have to because I am in charge of the trade table. It is frustrating when you know you don't have the birds and trying to pluck them out of the aviary is almost beyond me. And all that I want to do is finish birdroom. I had more problems today, I found my best young cock fighting on the floor with his brother over a hen, I didn't know what to do because I want to take the 3 of them on Saturday. In the end I put one of the cocks and the hen in a wire cage, seems they have paired them selfs up and they are a good match too and the right blood. I will still take them Saturday. I just hope they are okay in the wire cage because of the mice, but I have seemed to have cut them back heaps because I am only getting one or two every couple of days now.
  17. Congratulations Gb well done, that's excellent, great start to your show career.
  18. Nice names but have to admit that I haven't met a budgie called Ray either yet.lol

Hi Ali, Oscar has grown into a lovely little man.
  20. Thanks Gb, did you go to your show and did you take some birds?
  21. Nice birds and colours there.
  22. Great News. On Friday Geoff delivered my wall and between him and Greg they put one and half walls up, there were a few hassles, so we called it a day. Yesterday while I was at the Diploma Show, Greg was been handy and put up one whole wall and half the front, it looks great. I gave him a big hug and a huge kiss. We only have to put up front side where the window is and half the last wall. Greg would of done it all yesterday but I had to put a couple more pieces of frame wood in. Today I painted the walls that are finished and it looks fabulous, I just can't wait to get the birds in there. Saturday we went to the local poultry auction and the have sundries there too beside live stock, well there was a white single pantry there in great condition so I asked Greg's dad to bid up to $25.00 for me because it will go great in the bird room for all my bits and pieces, Merv got it for $4.00, wow I was so excited and he wouldn't let me pay for it either, so besides being a steel, it cost me nothing also.
  23. Thanks Brumbyracer , I am in no hurry to go into open. I have set myself a goal of 3 years to get to open. I only show at 2 sometimes 3 shows a year and the shields if I get selected. Our club hasn't even done the last 2 shields. There are a lot of shows in the Melbourne district but that is to far for me to travel.
