Eastern District Auction
Yes they do Gb, last year I think they were mainly Flanagan birds at your auction, not Sheppard. Last year they really didn't sell any at auction, well that is what i have been told. they normally do all auctions but not last year. So this year they are perdicting that they will go for heaps (any where from $500 up to sky is the limit) and they won so many classes which will help. But it also depends on the quality of the birds to the price. at the Nationals. BUT I could be very wrong also.

I am not going but I reckon they will go for some good prices, be interested on seeing what they go for too. Mainly Sheppard/Flanagan.

We Have a Snake
urrghhh, Geoff was asking me about the snake today and I said it must be gone or it is having a great feed on the mice. Well today at about 5 o'clock Jake went crazy, barking and carrying on but instead of going for what ever he was barking at he was more careful, he would bark and then step back and bark and step back further, not normal behavior for him, his bark was very concerning. So Greg got the shovel and his boots on and went to investigate, this is near the back veranda where we sit, along side the fence every year cherry tomorrows grow, self seeded I guess any way its keeps us in tomatoes for ages, but not anymore, Greg carefully lifted up the bushes and he saw the tail go under the fence, he said he wasn't sure because it was so fast. So he carefully pulled out all the tomato planets and cleared the area. I told him that I would never pick another one from there, because I normally just walk in amongst the plants with out any thought, never again. Rotten snake and rotten mice, I am so sick of it all. I am catching baby mice and now the say we have a plague coming, on its way, what ever that means anyway I thought we already had a plague. At least my out side aviaries are totally snake proof and I am 99% sure mice proof, have found any evidence of any since I finished mice proofing it. But those baby mice are so small, they can fit in the small wire I think.

The Kyabram Diploma Show
Thanks Gb, well do have done well to, winning a show cage and wine and platter. I noticed that some clubs like the Riverina only give ribbons for op sex once you get to Intermediate, beginners get a trophy for all. Have never got anything for Reserve either, just a little blue or red round sticker saying reserve. Hey last week I won the raffle at Riverina, it was groceries so I took them around to my son, him and his family were happy with them. Funny I hardly ever win the raffle and I have won it 2 weeks in a row. cool. The bird bath, lol I think Brad uses them for soft food. Good for veges though.

My New Birdroom (start To Finish)
Too late Gb all done but I will see how it goes for this breeding season and if mold shows up I will do it then, can't wait any longer want to put the birds down and already some have started to go into a moult.

Combining Clearbody And Lacewing
Gosh Gb it sounds like you culled really hard. You know that is what I do, plus it makes room for improvement. I can't see the sense of keeping meady oka birds unless the they are from a strong line.

Brasea Auction
Some nice birds Dave, they may go well in your breeding. Like to see them more relaxed like you said.

My New Birdroom (start To Finish)
Today I finished the painting and boy was I worn out by the end of it. Tomorrow I still need to put a ceiling thing and gap fill a couple of things and then a bit of touch up paint, take a few minutes. I only did one coat on the walls until after the breeding season but it looks great, I think I put it on heavy so the one coat is fine. I don't have enough paint to do 2 coats anyway. After I finish the touch up job, I have to make a stand for the breeding cages, hopefully it will not take to long. I don't know whether I should close it in or leave it open, I want to close it because it will look neater but just in case the mice do get in there I will be able to see them. Will decide tomorrow. I am hoping to have some breeding cages in there by tomorrow night but I still need the wire door made. But it is great it is all coming together.

The Kyabram Diploma Show
I don't know about that Hilly, i think I have been just plain lucky, when Greg bought me some birds for my birthday a few years ago and the they just seemed to click with a hen I had here. That's where it all started to go right which was my second year of breeding. I have to keep it up now, really hard.
