I Won Another Trophy
Thank you everyone yep it was pleasing and it made my night but Greg still thinks that Lt green opaline spangle is not much good, so it will be interesting to see how she matures.

Clueless Breeders
I'm surprised the pet shop took them after that story, those birds would have to be harboring something nasty

I Won Another Trophy
At the meeting it was first in best dress, I could of grabbed 12 of them but I didn't have enough money on me:(Sorry MB that little bird aint going anywhere I thought it was he but now we think it is a she, I am hoping she is a she :fear but she is a badly marked opaline though which will go against her in a show, That's why she didn't win Tuesday night.

I Won Another Trophy
Yes Sunny it was fun, I really enjoyed the night. Geoff is getting more soon MB, he is bringing back Geoff Lowes cages not all of them but most I think so I want a few more. So far I have 15 show cages only for showing in 5 kits that I really don't want to make up as I have no time and I am so over making my own. I have 13 cages in the breeding room for training but I want 10 more for training, I want to put one each in my aviaries and one each hanging off my holding cages that I put my young in but they can be crappy no need for them to be in good condition.

You Know You Are A Budgie Nut When.....
67. Like today when a lady says I don't remember your name but I know you as the bird lady, 68. When your partner reckons all you talk about is birds, Do I ? 69. When it is pretty bad when you get up and come home from work all you think about is checking this forum. 70. When you go to bed and think about your birds hours on end. God I am a birdnut

I Won Another Trophy
Tuesday night we had our club meeting and everyone takes along their birds to see how they are going and we have these judges there one that judges nationals and 2 aspiring judges. Well the birds were uncapped and this years capped. The judges had to pick the best capped and uncapped bird then pick the winner out of those 2 and I won with this dark green possible olive cinnamon opaline uncapped hen. And besides a the capped being picked they also picked this bird another uncapped. This is the bird that Greg reckons was ordinary and I thought I was great well it turned out to be great. So overall I had a great night and bought home a trophy and 6 show cages which someone was selling for a breeder that has gone out of the hobby I paid $40.00 for 6 and they are all in great condition. If I sound to serious or dull sorry just tied, had a hard day at work.

I Want One Of These To Put In The Middle Of My Avairy
Just imagine the finish product, you can sit back with pride and say "I made that myself" does wonders for the self esteem
-
What Price For This Type Of Breeding Cabinet?
It sounds good to me because you wouldn't be able to make them any cheaper, the wire fronts are around $15.00 each and steel trays are around $8.00 each plus then you have to buy your wood.

What Do You Think "does He Have What It Takes"
Kaz is right. To get a good marked DF spangle you should use cinnamon opaline grey for the blue series and grey green for the green series. The yellow DF pictured here father is a grey green opaline split cinnamon spangle and the mother is a sky blue spangle really colour wise bad mating. The white DF the father is The yellow DF spangle pictured and cobalt opaline spangle bad mating colour wise. But then last year I used green opaline cinnamon spangle hen with my green opaline cinnamon split cinnamon spangle cock and I white 2 pure white hens and 2 yellow DF cocks and the cocks both have suffusion but not as much as the one above. So who knows

Hi From New Zealand
Welcome Dean. You know There is one thing that really annoys me is an opaline with heavy flecking, it should be discoured but I have seen these birds win and place 2nd and 3rd at nationals, It is as good as saying breed away it's fine go ahead and breed these birds.

What Do You Think "does He Have What It Takes"

Cere Turning Blue From Brown?
Kaz is right it is a hen out of condition,I have one the same
-
What Do You Think "does He Have What It Takes"
Guess your right MB but it is a challenge to breed the without suffusion
-
What Do You Think "does He Have What It Takes"
MB is right, points are taken off for the suffusion. You know when the first DF was discovered it was by Geoff Gardiner the the guy that came here and looked at my birds he was ans ANBC judge well he told me that is what the DF spangles looked like when first discovered, they had a blue or green bib but the stanard says they have to be pure white or yellow.

What Do You Think "does He Have What It Takes"
This light green opaline spangle is 6 weeks old and I think he is stunning. to me he has width of face and directional feather, he is also a good size bird as in big, he sits his flights well and sits on the perch well. So all in all I don't get it. I know he could have more feather as Greg is comparing him to a white DF cinn spangle which has a lot more feather because she is cinnamon here are some photos This is him a couple of weeks ago This is the whie df cinn spangle This Yellow DF spangle is the father to the white and half brother to the light green. I got best beginner woyh him and almost the diploma but he wouldn't perch he had enough by then. Hoping to put him in the adult shield march 2009 if he gets seclected.
