I Have Decided On My Specialty
YAY, Congrats MB on your choice From what I have been told, and read the Opaline is good for the feather as it is Longer where as the cinnamon is wider ( or this could be the other way around - ) So this is where the "feather" comes in play ... And spots can be "fixed" so to speak Spangles have been used to try and breed out the suffusion of Ino's and Luts - But I am only new to this so more experienced members answer would be better I have been thinking about the spangle to - All i know is I don't want any recessive genes at the moment till i know what I am doing Good luck Mate

Canker?
Yeah it is a broad spectrum - The vets is on saturday - It will at least were told that supress what it is till the vet gets it a crop test feaces test and etc to work out what is happening .. Missy if another on dies between now and then put it in a bag in the freezer then take to the vets ... They are in a breeding room and are egg/ chick & babies ( 2 if i remember correctly) are affected!

Canker?
I know Liv, My first thought was FM, canker - Mega - And the parents being carriers as there are no visual signs! But deaths in the nest can come from a few things, Bacteria - Viral - feeding issues etc There are too many thing to rule out and not to rule out - So we went to see a long time breeder and Misslyu was advised try the anti biotic until she can get in to see the vet - and get them tested

Dead Eggs?
I remember the first time I tried to look at eggs, I was so sacred that the hen was going to bite me -I used a stick to shoo her off the eggs LOL - I then learnt ( because i joined here ) Like Liv said to tap on the box or swirl my nails in a circle on the side of the box to make them move .. They are use to it now - the minute they see me come in they are off their eggs and having a good stretch and well you know the rest But it is very important to check your chicks at least every day if not twice a day ( which is better ) - Chick might be fine in the morning and in the arvo it is dead... You have been given awesome advice and the FAQ's stuff is the best info you will get - :D:D Good luck with the breeding mate

Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
There is an over the counter Broad spectrum aniti biotic that you can use i don't know if it is as strong as the doxcy but has the same active ingredients in it - It is an over the counter! Treatment for E.coli, Enteritis, Mycoplasma, Respiratiry Disease, Chlamydia Psittaci - If you have the Psittaci becareful when you are cleaning as we can catch that problem and it isn't a good thing .... But as recommended a vets diagnosis is important so that you know you are treating the birds for the correct stuff with the right treatment ... I candle my egg I will either pick them up or use the led light ( i have the detol hand sanitiser) which i use as eggs are very pourpus and I am a smoker so the nicotine on my hand can and will affect the eggs. Maes I don't see a double yolker I see air and a yolk - But it isnt the best picture for me and I don't have my glasses on ( Can't remember where i put them .. No they aren't on my head I already checked twice :D) Liv that looks like it is Insoluble to me - Mainly sea shells - and is rather chunky My opinion though - There is a fantastic product out Can't remember the name is Looks like a small Pink brick I will see what it is called tomorrow ... They mainly use it for pigeons but it has all the trace minerals and vitamins as well as a good grit for birds

Ejected Eggs
Sounds like interfering hens Are they of breeding age ( over 12 months old )- as sometimes young birds can be a problem when coloney breeding - they are suck nosiey little things - Kaz has given you great advice!!! here is a ARTICLE IN THE FAQ'S ABOUT COLONY BREEDING Vs CLOSED BREEDING It's worth a read Good luck with the building project

Canker?
I Do and I don't have my doubts that is is canker The only things that are throwing me off it is - there is NO VOMITING OR GREEN VENTS Babies are dieing with either food in their crops ( or this could be the lesions) or empty crops Missylu had a suprised visit today ( hadn't seen her in 5 weeks ) She showed me what was happening and the baby that died this morning - I looked in its throat and there were traces of a black substance - in there There were no signs of Blood on the toes or nails so that call almost rule out Polyomavirus. We talked for a while As i dragged Missy away from her family this afternoon so I could talk to a few breeders and sorce advices of difference supplements ... We went to a few vets that were all booked out and even with us begging for an appointment they still wouldn't see us ..... Missy will be seeing An avian specialist on the weekend lets hope we can find out what it is . ( I will be there with a note pad and pen :D )... I am thinking that it is a bacterial thing not viral ( as only 2 - 3 of the nest that have deaths )

Feather Problems
There could be a few reasons why? Perches? are they too close to the wire? Is she molting? Would need a photo to be able to try and help

Could Feeding Too Much Calcium Actually Make Your Bird Deficient?
That is awesome SW - Thank you .... Would you agree that too much calcium could lead to calcium build up / deposits with in the bird ?

Has He Had Enough?
OFF TOPIC - I've decided to stop researching and start learning - If that makes sense to you Sw ... I post to many thing Regarding (re:) ; Healths and etc of birds ( i like this part of the hobby for some reason )- But I have been sitting in a few meetings and visiting aviaries and etc with health issues to see them in Real life rather then on paper or the monitor .. So I am very pleased that I am learning
