  5. Hi All, I have few questions re: Mybird ... She has plucked her self stupid while sitting on her eggs ( I know this is a comon thing) BUT!!! This afternoon While checking the bub I noticed that there is like a Orange thing on her lower belly, I am not sure if this is her skin ( doubt it as it is slightly raised) I thought maybe it is an Abscess from sitting on her eggs, this hasn't happened to any of my hens before ... I want to take her to the vet to get checked out but as she is sittng and feeding a baby I have my reservations? Any ideas, I will try to find my camera to take a photo, she won't letme go near her either which is strange
  6. LIV I bet your are relieved it's not the P word ...... Just a quick note too ....Vitamin A deficient birds are more prone to respiratory infections, as well as skin and liver problems. Vit A vegetables for budgies are carrots, sweet potatoes, kale, spinach, butternut squash, mango ... Food for thought
  7. Dried peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas are low in fat and good sources of protein, starch, fiber, iron, calcium and minerals. blah blah blah so actually Kaz you and the birds are eating fine
  8. What will you soak it in????????
  9. Sit the baby in one hand. using you thumb and index finger of the other hand, slowly squeeze the crop. Start below or jus ton the bottom of the air bubble and work you way up. the little chick should open its mouth as the air is forced out. Be careful as you do not want to force the food back up.
  10. Thanks erin, I am looking ofr my camera (Laughing out loud) No crop feeding as I do not have the needles ... I use either a small bent spoon or a syringe with the needle removed .... And place under the beak he/she opens and guzzles, I have a pot of got water next to me to rest feed in 'so it stays at an even temp .....
  11. My Bird and Snowman Have just welcomed to the world 1 of 7 chicks ... Being both first time parents, this will be a loonnggggg Journey for them both... First Chick hatched Late yesterday afternoon ( after I had check the nestbox), as it looks a litter older then a newborn... Had Air in crop and no feed I removed him/her and helped with the air and gave a good feed he/she is now back in with mum and Dad ....I will be checking on it's progress again this afternoon .....

OH Norm, I am so sorry to hear the rough patches you are going thru .... I haven't had this experience so really can't give any advice However in saying that. I would have reservations in putting the cock in and out as this may actually interupt your hen ... I would let her be, and have fingers crossed that they are infact fertile. Which is a pain as I know how heart breaking it is to see infertile eggs seems such a waste of a good hen ...All the best mate, I hope she pulls thru for you
