True slate only appears on blue (white-based) budgies. This variety is extremely rare. Basic Genetics: Sex-linked (on the x-chromosome) Then Beacause it is a GREYWING! Dilution In addition to a dark factor, budgies may also have a degree of dilution. There are four types of dilution: greywing, full-body-color greywing, clearwing, and dilute. Greywing budgies have grey markings on head and wings instead of black, and the body feather color is about 50% diluted (washed out). Full-body-color greywing budgies have the same grey markings of the greywing but the body color is brightened (not lightened or diluted). Clearwing budgies have very light or no markings on head and wings and the body color is brightened (not lightened or diluted). Dilute budgies are washed out all over. So, i guess there is some truth in the saying look like a drowned rat! I was out toping up feed and hosing out the other avairy when i saw it ... the thick tail, that, brown grey fur .... THE RAT!!!! I ran to the other avairy with hose in hand AND A SQUIRTED the hose on, at & around the FERAL THING. I soaked under the timber board ( hoping that a heap of them weren't going to come out and get me ) . The rat was wet trying to get outi hosed it away again , ran and got the .......... Shovel, I tried to hit it missed got it's tail, Man those things are thick didn't work, it turned, it was me or the rat......... I got the shovel and smashed it cursing and swearing at the thing for being so close to my birds I lost it ..... So it is either 1. unconsious (sp) 2. Dead 3. A great actor ..... All in all I feel bad I think I am going to bunnings now and get those traps

BUNNINGS HERE I COME !!! I was told over the weekend too that some traps you need to fasten to a heavy bit of timber as the rats can sometime run off with the trap around the head??? Now YES I AM THAT gullabull! .. But I will be getting some traps for sure , Dave how much were they??
