  1. ooh...that sounds like fun! I will have to see what happens when i get all of my birds in their new aviary.
  2. Why must cinnamons be avoided with lutinos and albinos? What happens??? Is there a problem with the babies? Is it weird colours??? (I can live with a strange coloured budgie) "remember cinnamon must be avoided at all cost with lutinos and albinos" (hath @ Nov 19 2006, 00:46)
  3. I have to agree with all of the above posts...they are all really cute.

That is great news. Now I know what to look for when I go to the auction. Later this week, I am going to get my aviary, and see what I need to do (repair wise) and if it is all okay, then I will add them to it. I am really looking forward to getting it up and running, and having the birds all together!
  5. I will have to take a few photos of my birds to find out what they really are.

Thanks, I found a local group in my area, but they are still under construction...so hopefully, i will hear back from them about the club. Why must cinnamons be avoided with lutinos and albinos? What happens???
  8. Wow they are super cute. I cant wait to see them with more feathers!

I have 2 lutinos, one is a rich yellow whilst the other is a lighter yellow. If I were to breed these two together (assuming that one is male) would the babies be a mix of colors like yellow, white and pale yellow? I also have a grey male, if I were to breed him with a lutino, would the size and head size be greatly different??? How do you get into showing birds? I see rings are being mentioned. where do you get them and what are their costs and purpose?
  10. Are there more photos? Those babies grow really fast.

I brought a very bright yellow lutino on Wednesday. At first I thought it was a female, but have decided that it must be a male. Its cere is pink and smooth, and he looks slightly larger then the budgies that I already have...but not as big as an English. So am I right in thinking that this bird is a male?

i just added a new bird to my flock. Its a very yellow latino. I brought her at our local sales in Warwick. I am not sure if she is male or female, but I think it might be a she. I will take photos later and post them here.
  13. Well she is all fine and back to normal today. I didnt take her to the vet, and once she was out of the cage and had some one on one, she was right as rain. She has since been going in and out of her nesting box, so hopefully she is getting it ready for laying and nesting.
  14. umm, a big change when she is brought upstairs and out of the cage...she seem to be happy sitting upon my shoulder...a much happier bird...
  15. My hen Jaz, doesnt seem to be herself today. Normally she is active like the rest of my flock, but today, she is all fluffed up and sitting quietly in the cage. Should I be overly concerned with this kind of behaviour? Should I take her out and give her some one on one attention? I dont want to loose her, as she is my pastel and tame. (The rest of my birds arent tame). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  16. It was a dark brown but it has gone back to normal.... I guess I am going to have to wait until she in the mood again.
  17. I have my pastel and grey in a cage together with their nesting box, I know she has laid and raised before, but it has been weeks since she removed the eggs that were in there. Is there something that I am missing? She and her partner do a lot of grooming....a real lot, and he is her partner from before. Should I remove him and introduce a new partner, or will they start soon with the laying and raising process??? Also, if i was to match up my ablino hen with the grey cock, will I get whites with grey markings??

Unfortunately, none of my birds have returned. No one has seen them either. I would say that they have found somewhere to live and play now, I just hope that no cat or other preditors got them. I still have a cage outside open for them but no luck.
  19. thanks, fingers crossed that they return home.

They flew away....I dont know if they would come back, and unfortunately, I did not take note of the ring's ID when mum collected him. We will put a sign up in our area, to see if anyone has found them.

yesterday, my son accidently let 2 of my budgies out of their cage by leaving the feeding door slightly open. I lost my English cock, and a green hen. I am so sad, as I wanted to pair up the english cock with my pastel hen. I guess I will have to keep an eye out for a new one. Somewhere along the way.
  22. I was wondering if birds that have escaped from the cage, will return. As my son left the feeder door slightly open and both birds that were in that cage have flown away. I have lost my English cock and my plain green budgies...the female was with my mother for a long time. I am hoping that they will return.

Thanks Nerwen, it has been very helpful. But I am not familiar with 'INO'? What does that mean? No I am not a member of any bird clubs. I am not sure that there is one near my hometown, I might have to check out the phonebook to see. Thanks Feathers. Your collection of budgies are beautiful.
