  12. Thanks Kaz, I am heading over there now for a read. I am very excited about my first one! Its very exciting ....new babies...first time around and quite a few times after that too I cant wait for more to hatch. It will be iteresting to see what teh babies look like, as I know 2 hens were in the box at one stage and now I have noticed just the one, and she is very pretty in colour. Like a high ligher green on her chest and a yellow/white-ish colour on her head and wings. I will need to get a photo of her.
  13. Thanks Kaz, I am heading over there now for a read. I am very excited about my first one!
  14. One of my hens has finally hatched an egg. I have one baby so far with still 6 eggs in the nesting box. Is there anything that I should be doing now, or do I just leave them be for the time being? If you could PM me with hints and tips I would greatly appreciate it. I will get some photos later of my birds. I am just so happy!!!
  15. Hey, I thought I was your best friend???
  16. If your little budgie's bite was really hard, then it could very well be a female. I think your little girl, is just stressed out a bit, give it a bit of time, and see how she goes. From the sounds of it, she might have been in an avairy bird with many others, and it is just a little lonely at the moment. Give her time to get used to her new surroundings. She might have started eating by now, as hunger has a way about it. Keep us posted on how your progressing.
  17. I had around 9 eggs, and none of them were fertile....I am not sure if my cocks are not old enough, they look to be about over a year old...but not to sure...I will have to maybe get some older cocks and hens and see if they breed for me. I am really wanting to see a baby budgie!!!! If you can offer me any advice on breed please do, I could use all the help I can get...I also have quails that just lay and lay but dont sit on the eggs. I am trying an incubator but will have to wait another week to see if any babies hatch from them, but I cannot remember if the eggs were too old or not...but since they are still laying, I will grab a few more if the ones i have in the incubator dont hatch.
  18. Your 7 pairs are beautiful. Cant wait to see pictures of the little jellybeanies when they arrive. Could you tell me how you made those breading cages? They look great.
  19. Its currently 3ft x 2m x 6ft. Currently 3 nesting boxes, in the process of getting some more or building them. they are protected and undercover. photos to come soon
  20. Since i am a newbie to budgies...I have questions. I have set up my aviary, and placed my birds in there...5 males to 7 hens. I have noticed that today the males have found females for themselves, and that the females they chose were the ones that were interested in nesting boxes...will there be a conflick with the other 2 hens who are without partners? and how long will it take for them to start laying? Jazz's cere has gone normal, so I am certain that she will not in the breeding mood, will that change quickly? Or am I safe in letting her stay in the aviary with all the others? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
  21. I lost two babies and have two doing reasonably well in a foster nest That is good to hear that two of your little ones are doing well. I do hope that they improve greatly.
  22. Have the babies improved with the new formula? I do hope that no more have died.
  23. I cant get enough of those photos....i am looking forward to when my ones have babies!!! Any more photos???
  24. I agree to...its a male...the cere is very smooth too!
