Burrowing Budgie
(Laughing out loud) I am glad that you like the Cleavage Budgie...Luna is doing fine and has been enjoying tapping the bells on the christmas tree. As of yet it has been a bit hard to get her for a photo, as she does keep still! She gets a little excited all the time and then she will go and hide for a bit. very funny sight to see. Will try and snap her up as soon as I can get a clear shot of her

Burrowing Budgie
She has red eyes. She is very quiet, and will make a bit of noise when I get her out of the cage but then that is about it. she doesnt make a lot of noise at all. She is pooping alright, and I just gave her a bit of water and something to eat, but she didnt eat a lot. Her keelbone feels fine, she has a bit of meat to her but she isnt over weight. I will take some photos tomorrow of her and post it over here.

Burrowing Budgie
she might be young like what you said. I just brought her at the Sales in my area. I dont know the breeder, so I dont know the exact age of the bird. I think I will call her Luna, as she is all white with no hints of other colours. I think she is eating but I am not that sure, i will keep my eye on her and see what happens.

Burrowing Budgie
I have just brought a new albino budgie, and its a baby. It is cute and acts in an odd manner. She likes to burrow. When she is in her cage, she will run about but when I take her out she will sit quietly and then start burrowing into any nook or cranny she can find. I was just watching a movie and she burrowed in under my neck and then when I sat up she burrowed behind me. She will sit in my hand and nod off to sleep for a bit. Is it normal or common for them to burrow? She will even hide her head behind her food dish, too.

Hen's Partner Passed Away
the male that passed away had escaped from my breeding cage, and was found in my neighbours yard, he must have hurt his leg or had a stroke. The hen is fine, she has been plucked of some feathers from one of the other hens in the aviary but apart from that she is in good health. I brought in one of the other males that she was close to and she is happy as can be. I havent seen any signs of rejection from either of them so fingers crossed that in the coming month she will start laying.

Hen's Partner Passed Away
My hen, Jaz, her partner Blue boy passed away yesterday. I was wondering when should I intoduce a new partner for her. She is on heat and wants to start laying. I know that she was friendly with the other males in the aviary, can I intoduce one of them to her or should I wait? she has wanted to breed now for a while, but I havent allowed her to, now I would like her to breed.

Possible Stroke In Older Budgie?
Sad to say that yesterday when we came home Blue boy had passed away . He made it through the night and looked healthy and happy in the morning, but sadly when we went out to vote he passed away. He was still warm when we came home and my husband buried him under a lovely conifer tree outside :angel1:

Possible Stroke In Older Budgie?
Last night we had a pretty big storm, and somehow, the breeding cage that i had a pair in, Jaz and my mother blue cock, one of the doors opened and the male flew out. (I was amazed that Jaz just stayed in the cage and didnt show any interest in the opening.) I thought that all was lost with the blue budgie, and had told mum that it escaped (I even designed a Lost Poster to put up at the local noticeboard). I kept a lookout for him all day and saw my neighbour next door in her yard and asked her if she has seen a blue budgie. She had and put it into her aviary with her birds! She said he must have hurt himself and she was right. His sympthoms.... left leg not gripping or feeling anything hes not fiesty as he used to be, he is now calm and docile leans to his right with his left wing stretched out for balance his left eyes looks strange to me, not as alert as his right poop normal! To me he looks like someone who has had a mild stroke, but I think that it might be anything else. He doesnt seem to be in any pain and is eating a little. I have placed him with Jaz again hoping that she will feed him if he needs it, and keep him warm. I brought them into the house and they are now in my living room so that I can keep an eye on them and his progress. Have I overlooked anything??? He is an old budgie, I would say somewhere between 5-7 years but no more then 8.

Moving Chicks And Eggs From Aviary To Breeding Cages
I brought a nice cage yesterday, so I will be moving the non-fixed box into that, and then during the night remove the other hen and cock into another breeding cage with the eggs, hopefully it will all work out good. If not, I will remove the other hens and see how that goes. If I were to remove the other hens, would I need to remove the cocks too or will the babies be fine like that. I willhave to remove 4 hens in total.

Moving Chicks And Eggs From Aviary To Breeding Cages
Yes Kaz,That what I ment to say.Inew what I was doing. But I guess I did`nt explain it.Yes a bit of 10 or 15mil sq mesh, made into acage Bobs your uncle :feedbirds: :hap: . I just left the aviary, and There might be a way to enclose her section, with a bit of wire. I cannot add a cage there without a bit of drilling, so that is out. but bit of wiring and some wire clips should close their area. My other problem is that another budgie has started to lay in a different nesting box, this time it isnt a fixed box, so can I remove them and the box into a breeding cage?

Moving Chicks And Eggs From Aviary To Breeding Cages
no not really, I would have to get in there with a drill and some timber and make a landing for the cage to rest on. I will have a look and maybe grab some extra wire and fence the inside off. I will have to see if it is possible. if not I will try and work something out in it.

Moving Chicks And Eggs From Aviary To Breeding Cages
Cant really move the other birds as the cockatiels have eggs too and they are in the same section as the birds. Should I move them now, and see how I go. If not, i have an incubator that I could use for them but I am not sure how many times a day I am to routate them inside the machine.

Moving Chicks And Eggs From Aviary To Breeding Cages
I was wondering what are my chances of having a successful outcome with moving chicks and eggs into another nesting box outside of the aviary? I cannot move the box that they are in as it is a fixed structure, but I dont want to loose another lot of babies to the other hens attacking them. I was thinking of when the first baby hatches to move them into the new box with the eggs and the parents. Can it be done or should I do it before the eggs hatch. I have a feeling that they are going to hatch in about a week. Any suggestions would be greatful.

I Have My First Baby ... Now What?
Norm, what should I do with her, as I am not sure that I would want to return her to the aviary. I am in the process of organising my own aviary and breeding room at my new house, as I will probably be breeding in the cabinets in the future. If I were to breed with the ino in the future, will the offspring be aggressive or normal, as I dont think I want to be breeding an aggressive??? It is so disheartening, as I was so looking forward to them and to handtaming.

I Have My First Baby ... Now What?
THis morning my mother called me to tell me that all the babies were dead :rip: . It turns out the albino hen had attacked the babies and the mother attacked the albino. I have removed the ino hen into a cage and the mother has gone back to her remaining 2 eggs. There was a third egg in there but I removed it as it was cracked and the baby had died inside the shell. When I caught the offending hen, and placed her into the cage, a few of the other budgies jumped onto the cage even though I was holding it in my hand. When I had first arrived at the aviary, there was a lot of chatting, squawking and so forth and they were waiting for me to come into the cage. Once I removed the ino everyone settled down and acted calm. Could my ino hen be a problem in the future? WHat should I do with her? I wanted to breed her later on but now I am not sure, I am thinking that it could also be a juvenile thing with her as well. Any suggestions?

He is a cutie, I am hoping to have a few more like him if it is possible. I just love the colouring, and he is a bigger bird like Boof.
