Lumina Laid An Egg
If you want to move the cage, so it now. If it is a quiet room, consider adding some music during the day. Budgies liek ti noisy, when they are quiet, it means dange,r so she will not want to lay then. Follow Kaz's advice with the egg. it can go a few days without her sitting on it.

My New Clearwings
The photo does her no favours. She comes from a nest where her father was a feather plucker, and I think she may have been a victim of the plucking, so she may never have great looking feathers. She is not sick though, trust me. I will get some more photos later and you will see. She is no sick, she has some feather issues, but she is okay

Medications
By the time you realise they are sick with canker, it is too late Canker is one of those diseases that wild birds carry and spread by treating for one week, 4 times a year, you solve the problems

Having A Plan
Daz, Went back and read this, and I think i am on the right track. I have bene a member of a club now for 6 months, am setting up my breeding room, I sat down and spoke with the guys from Elenbee Birds seeds about the best seeds, and what others use. I now use the seed that the NSW Budgie Society president uses. I go to shows, looking at birds. I was a runner getting the birds at the last show, so I got to see all the birds that were on show (well not all, but all the greys, cinnamons, spangles, plus a few others) and watched what won and what didn't. It was interesting to see and to learn. I have visited breeders in Sydney and i have bene lucky enough to visit breeders in Perth and have a better understanding on how they do things. This knowledge has helped me modify my own set up to be more like the show breeders set up. I have asked advice, and been granted information. All up, I am very lucky and believe I am headed in the right direction.

Spangle To Pied Pairing
Yes, it can be. remember it is a double factor spangle as it got the spangle gene from both parents, and it is a yellow based bird as one of its parents were green, not necessarily both.

Wattle Flights
Not going to happen - i love my grass too much. it is as mucha sickness as anything else. I have the large flight, and I am building the new breeding room, but the grass has hardly been modified, nor the paved area. very few changes to the landscape actually. As for new flights, I just made an exisitng aviary better.

Hen Attacking Male
i know this sounds kind of harsh, but when she is in there, perhaps you should keep your distance for a few days. Seems her love is torn, between her new beau, whom she can have a family with, and the love of her life.....YOU -

Off To Perth
I think those two greys from the pet shop had it. I think that it might be a problem in the aviary of the guy that bred those birds. I am no expert but I had a TCB that showed no signs for the first six months of his life, then he went downhill rapidly. That was what the grey cock did - no signs then bang, sick, bang, dead. I think you always take a risk when you buy birds from a pet shop. I took the risk and it was almost fatal for some of my birds. Canker treatment involves using Roni-Vet 4 times a year, for only 1 week. It is only 4mg in 4 litres of water, changed daily, so it is not a big thing. Simple to do. Personally this is something that I will do 4 times a year. I do not like the idea of giving many meds to my birds, well, not generally, but canker treatment is a certainty for my birds.

The Creation Of My New Breeding Room
Well, it is 2 months since I started clearing the spot where the shed will go, and my progress has been very poor, to say the least. In my defence, I have had a great holiday, I ahve returned to work, I have given up my time to help family and friends on multiple occasions, and I have taken on more responsibilities at work, to the extent that I am pretty much exhausted these days. So where am i at? The grass has started regrowing in my cleared area. I have set myself a date to get things done. This week is about reclearing the area, making sue the wood goes in that is going to act as my barrier to the cement, and contacting a company to get a quote on the cost, and booking it in. I want to get this going ASAP. I am more committed now. A lot of the special things I have had to do as a Year 7 Coordinator are coming to close, such as camp, visits to primary schools, etc. so I feel I am getting mroe on top of things. Stay tuned to this space, i promise more work than before.

Off To Perth
Preference yes, but that does not mean we all do what is best for our birds - but that is a debate for another thread. Anyway, just an update. Of my 29 birds that came back from perth, one grey opaline cock died. I have to say that he was the least impressive of all my birds, but it is still upsetting. That leaves me with 28. Of those 28, 26 are in the aviary now, and 2 are in the laundry under heat lamps. They have both been to the vet, they are Caesar, my Cec Gearing blue cock, and a the only hen I got from Hans Sibum, a Light Green Opaline Cinnamon wing. Now, at the vet Caesar was found to be free of any bacterial infection, so it is thought that he may have caught a cold. The hen is a different matter. Yet again she was free from bacterial infection, but she was throwing up, similar, but less extreme to the two greys that had previously demonstrated this behaviour before dying. Anyway, it was thought to be one of two things - either canker or metal poisoning. I do not know how she could be metal poisoned, as every cage she had been in was powder-coated, but they treated her for this anyway. She came home today, and although she is on meds for a week or so, she is much better. The canker treatment continues, as this is what is thought was causing the problem with the birds that died, based on their symptoms. I am looking forward to the day when they can all go into the aviary. The car is back in the garage, and the garage is getting tidy again. All is headed in the right direction. Now to get back to that breeding room.
