Storm And Sunny
Neither of her parents are pieds, so like Liv meant, unless she is a recessive pied, I doubt that she wil be a pied. Not sure the ring means anything. The dad was split to cinnamon and you did nto know. He might also be split to opaline.

Break It To Me Gently
That is a bit rough. I liked your hubby when I met him. So let me get this straight - he told you a bird was a feather duster and you sent your hubby to heaven? Talk about "shooting the messenger!!!":rofl::rofl::rofl: You may have edited this but I got in quicker.

Will They Breed If Wings Are Clipped?
I have photos like this hanging in my breeding room!!! If you think that is bad, you should see the big screen playing with the video. Only thing I hate is that annoying 70's music -

The New Greywings from the PRBS Auction
If I ever get a greywing, and it will be just for fun, it has to be a blue one. The wings look amazing on them.

Well And Truly Plucked
Some birds are not good parents, and their young end up plucked!!!!!!!!! I hope the little ones recover.

Breeding Pairs 2009
Well 2 of the greys have come out of the nestbox. I put them back in at night, as it is stilla bit chilly. My 3 spangle young look great. I think that "leg issue" was me worrying about nothing. My DF looks like she is going to be a good "protective" mother. The young ones form Twitch look to be real screamers. The eldest hen, the grey green opaline dom pied, looks to be a real screamer - like to bite too. Might put the new pairs that do not appear overly interested in the aviary and put birds in there that are quite keen and ready to go.

Greywing With A Blue Spangle?
So the body colour is green. That is what I asked and that is what was answered. As for needing two greywings, yes, Elly is right, I should have added the word "genes". If I had of, probably would have saved Elly writing an essay to correct my one word absence. Me bad.

Need You Help/advice
that fact that you have 2 females and 1 male is something they may well fight over.

Normal Cock × Albino Hen
Dad is a normal blue but is split to opaline. 1) The opaline mutation is a sex-linked trait. This means that if a male has the opaline gene, he will appear normal, but when a female has the opaline gene, she appears opaline. All the girls from this male bird will be opaline. 2) The Ino gene, which is what makes a bird albino or lutino, is also a sex-linked gene. This means that if a femal bird gets the Ino gene, she will appear as an ino, either an albino (blue) or lutino(green) bird. For a male bird to appear as an albino, it must get 2 ino genes. In your case, all the males will be split albino as they only received one albino gene from the mother. If you breed these young males with another bird, then all the females will be albino's.

Urgent Help Needed!
He should be fine. If they came out cleanly, they will regrow with no problems. Keep an eye on him. He might be a bit stressed, so watch him.

Greywing With A Blue Spangle?
Greywing is a recessive gene, so you need two greywings to get greywing young. Spangle to non-spangle pairing will produce 50% spangles, 50% non-spangles. What body colour is the greywing? Blue greywing to blue spangle will result in: 50% spangle blues/greywing 50% normal blues/greywing Green greywing to blue spangle will result in: 50% spangle green split to blue and split to greywing 50% normal green split to blue and split to greywing There are multiple other combinations if you have a green that is split to something else.

How big is his cage? I agree with the aviary to cage concept.

Breeding Pairs 2009
Not there yet. When I have bred the most beautiful birds, then I will be more proud. At the moment, it is kind of cheating. That is why I look at what Kaz and Splat have done, and i am so in awe. To breed a good bird, that is something to be proud of. having enough money to be able to source good birds, well that is good, but i do not think you can really take that much credit. I am proud I have worked hard, have a good job, to buy birds, that I can provide for -

Help Needed For Scaley Face
Did that vet help you out Ross? I am not sure you can do much to prevent it. Just be mindful and treat the birds when they first show signs by putting a drop of ivermectin on the back of their head.

It is not about beliefs, it is about science. The problem of the cracked egg was solved by then hen - she ate the egg. Problem solved.

Breeding Pairs 2009
One of the greys did have a weepy eye, so i trimmed the feathers around his eye. I have never had that before. Is that a common thing? Is it just due to the feathers? Will it correct itself? Is ti simply weeping because the feathers are annoying the eye? There is a slight dent in that egg. I have no nail polish here, but I am told I can use liquid paper for the same effect.Just on the things needed. yesterday i bought make-up pads to be used on babies with splayed legs, and now you expect me to have nail polish. As a single male, I never realised how much the "fix" in budgie breeding was female orientated. Scared what I might be asked to get next. A green or grey green bird breeding greys or blues MUST be split blue or am I reading this wrong?reading wronggreen has to be split blue as dave saidhowever grey green can produce grey chicks with blue or grey or green bird and the green does not have to be split i know it sounds wrong but its true i had a big debate over it once and in end said okay what ever found out later that i was right with grey green they can produce grey to any colour but only can produce blue if the the other bird is split blue and also them self hope that made sence and dave i was not making argument just asked if he was grey green or green as you said i had forgotten and was interested for myself onlymaking an argument GB is making a case. It does not mean starting a fight. Do not misinterpret the words. Everyday in a court of law, a barrister makes an argument, as in he puts forward his case. I am sorry if you misinterpreted it incorrectly. As for a greygreen bird being able to produce a grey bird with any colour bird, that is not true. If a grey bird is bred to a green bird that is not split to anything, that is it's genome GrnGrn, than it is impossible for the young to be grey. They will all be greygreen. DF grey to a DF green will give you greygreen young. It is impossible to get grey young.

Breeding Pet Budgie With Show Budgie
I am not sure there is a definitive answer here. It comes down to what you have I suppose.

Breeding Pairs 2009
A green or grey green bird breeding greys or blues MUST be split blue or am I reading this wrong?I think you are reading it wrong. I have a grey dom pied from this pairing. Thus I said my green must be split blue, as when bred with a grey, i got a grey.GB did not remember if the cock was a green or a greygreen. She was saying that if it was a greygreen put with a grey, it does not have to be split blue to get a grey.GB's confusion over the cock meant that she was making an argument that she did not have to make.Nubbly - you are 100% correct. I might be having a bit of luck with the breeding, but if I get birds that look half as good as yours, then I will be happy.
