Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
Kilt's are a great idea, but can get draughty. I remember a fancy dress party one night, excellent, funny, looked terrific, but had to change out of the skirt as the wind whipping around was freezing

I see why you asked about the level now Kaz, but trust me, they are poorly taken pics. I need a level on the camera - that would be more useful I think!!!

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
Me heritage is Irish and Scottish so I am happy with that Finnie. David - Irish - ties in with the Rooney Clan McMinn - Scottish - the McMinn's are part of a clan that includes names such as Menzies plus others. I need to find out more about this. There is a shop at Birkenhead Point here in Sydney that has all things Scottish. I will have to go there sooner or later.

She is a great hen. That is why i was so annoyed when I lost another hen that was identical to her one day. Imagine having two hens like that down breeding. Oh happy days. Oh well, I really hope that she throws some lovely young. We will see.

Dave would love to build a bigger avairy, but first he needs a bigger property. That is not going to happen for at least 6 months. The order is new car, new property.

Breeding Pairs 2010
With this pair, it will be interesting the results. The possible outcomes for the above pair with the two chicks are: 12.5% male green /cinnamon 12.5% male green Dominant pied(sf) /cinnamon 12.5% male green /ino cinnamon 12.5% male green Domiant pied(sf) /ino cinnamon 12.5% female green 12.5% female green Dominant pied(sf) 12.5% female ino 12.5% female ino Dominant pied (visually a lutino but the ino gene masks the dominant pied) If you had not worked it out before, the cock is carrying the Ino gene. How do I know? He has had lutino chicks before.

My 2 Lutino's Have An Albino Baby? Is One The Parents Split?
the ino gene is sex linked, not the colour, so both parents have to be split blue to get an albino chick

Babies Coming Out Of Nests
A little hard to tell as she is leaning in and he is leaning away, and both have poor tails, but she still looks quite large.

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
David is a hebrew name, or is it simply Christian name It was David who slew Goliath in the old testament, when he fought with God on his side, this young David went on to become King David, one of the kindest and most benevolent rulers of his time. King David wrote many psalms that appear in the Bible. Perhaps the most famous is Psalm 23. We have all heard the lines.... "Yay, though i walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil..." David...Beloved...loved by the Lord and by his people. A name I am proud to carry. Any budgie would be proud too -

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
David means beloved. Read through the posts and ask yourself if the vast majority of these birds are not loved greatly. David seems like a great name

Babies Coming Out Of Nests
Great looking bird. She was a big baby. i would love to see a shot of her sitting next to another couple of birds, to see if she has maintained her size in comparison to others.

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
Kaz has not entered this debate, as emotionally it is tearing her apart. She knows that Mac and Frannie should join Quiche and come to Sydney. To enter this debate means that she would have to voice an opinion that differs from the truth that is eating up her "Phar Lap-like" heart. It upsets me that this is causing her grief, but she knows that I will take good care of Quiche, Mac, Frannie and Memphis when they join my pieds in my aviary.

My Aviary
Well done Shannon. You have come a long way since you first appeared here. Your flights have changed, your breeding room has changed, and all this has occurred as your attitude has changed. Well done. I think it is wonderful to see young people, and when I say young I mean 15-25 years old, embracing the show breeding hobby. There are not enough young people. It is an older person's hobby yet you are showing young people how it can be done. Well done again.

Redoing My Aviary's Floor
Does it just settle and level pretty much on its own... due to gravity? Not really. If you want a smooth level surface, you need to ensure that it is level. You do this by using a piece of timber and sliding it over the dampened surface. The point of this is to ensure that the concrete is not on a slope, unless you want that, and to enssure that there are no little depressions in which water can gather. If you leave it up to gravity, it will not be level, or even smooth. Does it just settle and level pretty much on its own... due to gravity? i dont know but if daves like me then id suspect it is the job of the concretes to MAKE IT LEVEL I COULD BE SOOOOOOOOOOOO WRONG THOUGH No, you are right. My brother-in-law and I are doing the conrete-ing on Thursday, which is meant to be 34 degrees or so (I know, chilly for you Perth people, but hot for Sydneysiders) so we will be ensuring it is level.
