  1. soon quiche my child, you will come to Sydney
  2. How many birds total this breeding season Nubbly?
  3. I noticed Matt donated a bird to auction on Sunday at Revesby that went for abotu $100 I think. Very nice.
  4. I would agree. 2 birds I liked - one was a light green sommie pied hen, went for $375 and the next was a cinnamon winged spangle hen, went for $500. A cock went for $550. Nothing really special
  5. So these are birds you bred?
  6. I know the balls are wet at the bottom, but that last picture - I mean, that bird is soaked. Come on, that bird must have loved getting wet, no one can be that dumb not to get out of the water and off the balls :budgiedance:
  7. well done Splat!!!
  8. Thanks everyone for the comments. Things are going okay with some birds, but others are always an issue. I will get a more developed shot Ratzy to show everyone and update and make sure you clearly understand what I am talking about. As for the pics, they were taken on my iphone, as as great as that toy is, the camera, without a flash, is average.
  9. Quick update ( taken yesterday/last night) Pair 1 - grey cock and a greygreen spangle hen - 3 chicks (Hen has layed 3 new eggs) 1 greygreen spangle cock - Monster - going very well, and looking after younger siblings 1 grey normal hen - fledged. Small, but still young. I think she might only have fledged as mum might have chased her from the nestbox. Perches well though. 1 grey opaline normal hen - Larger than older sister - I have placed her in an ice cream container on the cage floor. Pair 2 - Solo Dad Light Green opaline dommine pied/lutino cock (mother deceased light green cinnamon winged hen) - 1 chick light green opaline hen - very clear mantle Pair 3 - Light Green Spangle Cock and GreyGreen Normal Hen (Darkest GreyGreen I have ever seen so I thinking she has 2 Dark Factors) - 2 chicks dark green normal hen dark green normal cock
  10. Based on this picture, what makes you say she is not an opaline chick? See now, based on these pics, with the white down, I am thinking that she definitely is an opaline chick
  11. hate to say it, but to me, talk is very cheap. Until I see it for real, or evena reliable photo, I am a non-believer. My faith only extends so far
  12. poor photos make analysis difficult as well
  13. honestly, not the best way to go. I understand wanting to involve your pet budgie, but that would be like trying to build a car by finding an tyre and then fitting an engine, chassis, etc. around it. I think that you should look at expanding your flock by buying some good stock birds, either from members or here who are culling, or from auctions.
  14. At the last BRASEA auction, there were some birds that went for $20, some went for 20 times that amount, and the dearest I saw was one that went for lose to $1000 I think. I am going, I am looking to purchase, but I am not looking to go nuts at anytime soon.
  15. water, our old nemesis!!!!
  16. Most birds are back in the aviary now, with only 1 cage of birds left. I had to cut the ring off one 08 cock today and tomorrow I will strap his foot to prevent infection. Not sure what I should put on it first though. Betadine? Thoughts? I have a few others with some little health problems, so i am looking at them before they are returned to the aviary. I also recorded all my ring detaild today, and had a good look at my birds. I am going to start thinking about my first cull. There are a few to go, so we will see how that develops.
  17. I think they are great Deb. They are not too large. In an ideal world, every breeding cage would be that space. Consider in the wild, there is plenty of room to "get away" and yet life still finds a way. Do not worry yourself, they look great.
  18. Unless the grey cock is carrying the Ino gene, you will not get any Albino's, so do not get your hopes up as that is unlikely. Also it is very unlikely that the Greywing sky blue is carrying the Ino gene. My guesses are that you will get grey birds, with all the cocks being split to Ino, and normal blue birds, with the cocks being split to Ino.
  19. Some nice looking birds in there

    Well done, some great success!!!
  21. pics not working, please read the instructions for posting pictures under my signature
  22. I might look at hens at an auction next sunday I might also have to hold off on my generous giving away of hens
  23. Not all news is good news. Whilst I was out working on my aviary, a tragedy ocurred - I lost hen. i found her dead. She had tried to lay an egg and her insides had pushed out with the egg. There was nothing I could do. Why is it that when we lose a good bird, it is always a hen?
  24. Well, my stepfather and I cut some veyr narrow channels to assist with any water for run off on the aviary slab, but outside of the aviary. We then, with some help from some neighbours, moved the aviary back into position. I karchared (high pressure water blastered) the aviary. It is drying now and this afternoon I will use a gap filler to completely seal the bottom of the aviary. As it stands, it should be ready in the morning, say 7am for the birds to return to their home. I cannot wait.
