He could possibly be shy and just getting used to his new home and surroundings. My first budgie was very quite at first too. Just to ease your mind if he doesn't become more active, like bea said take him to the vet for a check up. :budgiedance:

Poor Gloria :(
Thanks guys. I have put her in a large cage inside the aviary and this morning she is doing fine hanging from the top of the cage and whistling so all is well. I think Oliver will be okay too, he was sitting on top of her cage chatting away. I am going to start on the other aviary this weekend. I just hate seeing her confined when all the other birds have free flight. The vet we took her to was great!! I would recommend her. If anyone wants more info about a good caring vet, let me know. :ausb:

Poor Gloria :(
After our trip to the vet today it was found that Gloria is not in fact egg bound, but has a hernia!!! Who would have thought a budgie could get one of those? The vet gave her a shot to dissolve any eggs inside her and said apart from her bum lump she will have a happy and full life. I do have to move her to a cage of all female birds though because if her mate Oliver was to infact mate with her, the hernia would interfere with normal egg laying. Not sure how poor Oliver will handle having his lovely lady away from him, might also be an excuse for more birdies!!!! :hap: So really my news is not bad. It just means now that i will have to hurry up and build my new 'ladies only' aviary :hap:

Poor Gloria :(
Yesterday i noticed that Gloria is very swollen around her vent. Upon closer examination it appears she may be egg bound. :hap: My poor baby. She has an appointment at the vet at 3pm today. I am very nervous. I am like a nervous mum. hahah The vet told me that she may have to stay in overnight if she is in fact egg bound. I'll keep you posted on how she is. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for her. :hap:

Stubby's Big Adventure!
Today Stubby came out to play. Chucky was playing on the table with some broccoli. Stubby ran up to the cage door about 3 times before he climbed out and walked ever so slowly towards Chucky and the Broccoli. He stood there had a nibble then climbed the ladder of Chucky's gym and just sat there. Silly little Chucky flapped her wings, gave Stubby a heart attack and he took off into the kitchen. He was sitting on the floor so i picked him up and put him back onto the gym where he just sat. A little puffed but okay. Next thing I knew he was climbing all over the cage, whistling crazily and chewing anything he could. He even let me stand next to the cage without him running or flying away. I think if I do this with him everyday he will settle down and maybe even become tame. Here are some pics of him today...hope you like them Look out here I come!! He would never let me stand this close. Seeing things from Chucky's side

What To Do
thanks I think i'll skip the quails I don't want more mess I will try and find out about the mint. I will try anything. I just hate mice yuck yuck yuck!!!!!!! I bought the 2 birds as a breeding pair and apparently they had bred together before but i don't really know for sure. When you say they eat them, do they eat the whole thing, shell and all? The eggs were gone and no shell was on the ground either. Thanks guys for your advice.
