budgie stats
Well, there's only one other Jimmi and that one's in Saudi Arabia. There's one other Custard on there, also in the UK. I'm not too unoriginal then.

Two In One Day
Sorry for your loss, Bea. It's horrible whenever a pet dies, and this time it's doubly sad. Had you thought of getting a necropsy done, just in case they had something? I only say that really as it was two at the same time, and obviously you don't want any more losses.

Confused Birds
My two girls do the same. There's nothing wrong in it; they're just best buddies and take care of each other and bond with lots of kissing and preening. My girls even feed each other sometimes.

 Another New Baby :)
She's beautiful. It's good that you were prepared to take her on, as she may not have found a home otherwise.

Some Nice Pics Of Ässä
Assa is a very handsome little boy. I have a type 1 yellowface as well, but it's nice to see one with a slightly different shade of blue to mine. I like the second picture; he's so cute.

Sorry
Don't worry about it. You'll get the hang of it.

The Budgie Ate My Homework
Haha that's really cute. When I started uni, I bought one of the books that my professor wrote just to be nosey and see if she was any good a writer or not. Well, i never actually got around to reading it, but Jimmi and Custard definitely thought it was tasty! :feedbirds:

What Colour/type Are These?
On my screen she looks very silvery-grey with light blue cheek patches... so, does that make her mauve? I'm rubbish at this, so I'm probably wrong. She doesn't look even vaguely blue on my screen.

The Pin Feather
A pin feather is a new feather growing through that still has it's protective sheath around it. Eventually the sheath falls off and a lovely new feather is left behind. They get a lot when they've been through a molt and their new feathers are arriving - they can look like little hedghogs when they've got lots of them!

Bathtime
Ha ha! That's so cute. Poor little birdie, he doesn't look at all impressed by his bath! :bluebudgie:

What Do You Do When There Is A Power Cut
I would think maybe if the weather starts looking like their might be a power cut, fill up a few thermos flasks with hot water so that you can make up hot water bottles if you need to over an extended period of time. Other than that... I really don't know. I suppose your own body heat would be better than nothing if you were taken by surprise by a long power cut.

I'm So Excited!
Well done! That sounds like you're heading on the right track for a lovely tame budgie. I wouldn't pay too much attention to her biting episode. After all, if you were being handled by a giant creature that you didn't know, in a strange place, with strange sights and sounds, you'd probably bite them too! :fear You just need to keep on building up trust between you. From the sounds of it, she's a brave little girl, so good for you, and keep working at it! :hap:

Free To Anyone Who Can Collect
If only I was a little bit closer, I would have gladly collected one! Oh well, never mind. I could always come and get one of your huge cages. I'll have one of thos if you want them out of the way!! :hap: Seriously, good job though. Those places would have to fork out a lot of their delicate budgets on new cages if they had to buy them new. I imagine they'll be incredibly grateful to have them. Also, it's nice that you've discovered somewhere like that so close to home. Well done Boomberry, that is a kind thing to do.

Hi!
That just made me think... have you tried putting his playgym a bit lower down. If he's higher than your kids' eyelevel then he's going to think that he's in charge and that he can drive off the annoying fingers by pecking at them. It's a dominance and possession thing that some budgies do if they don't quite no where they are in the pecking order. They need to be high enough to feel secure, but not so high as to feel dominant. Don't forget, budgies are arrogant little buggers, so it's not difficult for them to get the idea that they're the ones in charge, especially over small children with curious little fingers.

Super Cuteness
I love Budgiezilla.. he's looks so determined to stomp down anyone who gets in his way. :(Laughing out loud): You don't want to mess with this cutie, oh no.

Wow! Look At Me!
Well done both of you! It's nice to see you're getting along.

Hi!
Yep... that sounds typical budgie to me!

What Do You Think?
My yellowface (although she is type 1) has quite a lot of white fluffy feathers around her vent area that you can see even when she's not puffed up. I don't think it's particularly significant to the mutation, though. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody. Also, the greeny colour at the top changing into blue at the bottom is what makes her a type II. The yellow bleeds into the blue base colour and makes it look green. I hope your little grey is feeling better soon. Do you have a heat lamp for her?

Single Mother
Oh, daddy is beautiful! Hopefully he'll learn to be a good dad too.

A Very Silly Question!
Awww Bea... that's so cute. Tracey, you could always post some pictures for us to see, that way we could probably give you a good idea of how old he actually is.

Flying Boris. Go Girl!
She's beautiful Karen. I like the third picture especially; her wing looks really magnificent spread out like that. I also really like the last one. I really want to get my camera out now to see if I can get some shots! :parrot:

Phew What A Day
That's good that they're both sorted now. I agree about taking the vet bill to the pet store; it's worth a try and you'll at least feel better that the store will know to have a look at their other birds. As for Frankie's injections, there's something you might want to consider that I talked to my dogs' vet about recently. I haven't really looked into it that much, but you might want to. Apparently, there's some talk in the vet world about the necessity of yearly boosters for immunisation jabs. I think quite a few vets are thinking it's more for the sake of the vet's pocket than it is for the dog. After all, do you have booster jabs for your immunisations every year? Once you're immunised, you're immunised. The booster jabs (say for tetanus) that we're supposed to get every ten years are more precautionary than anything, even doctors admit that. If you think about it in terms of Chicken Pox. Once you've had it, you don't get it again because your body has built up an immunity against that particular disease. That's exactly the same as what an immunisation jab simulates; it introduces a minute amount of the disease into your system to make your body's immune system fight against it and produce the relevant antibodies. My vet suggests boosters every 5 years, just to be on the safe side. There's another vet I know of in my area who just doesn't give boosters as he feels he's ripping people off if he does. If Frankie is going to react this way every time it might be worth doing some research on this. It may all turn out to be just vets having a debate with no real proof, but you could investigate. After all, you've got a year to decide. I'm glad all's well now and they both continue to get better. They both adorable. Puppies and budgies... my favourites!
