I know exactly how you feel. I lost all my birds except for one a few months ago. (about 20 of them) We had gone away for the weekend and when I got home the cage door had been opened and they were all gone. I couldnt believe what I was seeing (or not seeing). I just stood there dumbfounded. But you just have to pick yourself up and start all over again as hard as it is. It took me a while to even consider getting more budgies but over the time I have found another 4 pairs that have really nice colours. They are only young so they wont be breeding till next year. One of my birds came back a few days after the event and he let me catch him, and they now have 5 babies. So there was some good come out of my tragedy

Check out the "Aviaries" section of this forum and under "Plants for my Aviary" there is a list of tress and shrubs that are safe for birds. Liquid Amber is not one of them. You might need to look into it further though to rule it out completely.

If I was you I would put the chick in a cage on his own for a while. His father probably sees him as a threat and more than likely wants to breed again. The chick doesnt need to be with his parents any longer if he can feed himself.

I am hopeless at sexing these young budgies, any guesses anyone? I found myself at the pet shop again today and couldnt go home without these little cuties!! They are quite tame as well, they even sit on my finger !!

No ceres are not crusty. I think they might be male too

If you hold a small torch up to the egg somewhere dark you should be able to see movement in the egg. I have seen their shadow as they pick at the shell to get out! But dont presume they are dead if you dont happen to see any movement, there's not a lot of room in the shell. I would wait a few more days before doing anything hasty.

Its normal to feel a bit hesitant when it comes time to sell your little chicks. I sell mine now and then and I always feel this way. You say she hasnt done or said anything to make you feel uneasy so I wouldnt worry if I was you. Would it make you feel better if you politely asked her if you could visit her home to see the environment in which the bird would be living?

Why do they have both colours (blue and brown)? That makes it very hard to pair them up for breeding!!

Checked on my babies this morning and now there are 3!!!! So exciting - cant wait to see what colours I get!! These are their parents! Hard to believe that none of their first lot of eggs were fertile and this lot are all fertile!

I went budgie hunting on the weekend to try and re-stock and found this pair. I fell in love with the cock bird and wanted him straight away! At last my eggs have started to hatch! I have two at the moment with another 4 to hatch. I had forgotton just how tiny they are when they hatch as it's been a while since I've had baby budgies!!

After losing all my breeding stock and only having 2 birds left, their eggs are due to hatch any day. I thought I could hear one chirping inside an egg this morning, so it could be on its way out right this minute!!! The hen laid 7 eggs and there was only 1 clear one. So will let you all know when they hatch including pics!!!
