Yep... Ever had one of those jobs where people say "Wow, what a great job!"?
  2. Hehe... "I thought I was putting on my indicator, but it was the windscreen wipers! Argh... I can't see where I'm going!!! Argh!"
  3. I'll try!
  4. For those of you here in Oz, you know that Foxtel IQ ad, where the guys show their appreciation of the wonders of modern TV technology by whistling? Yeah, well that ad came on last night and lo and behold, from the corner of the living room came the Foxtel IQ whistle! Argh! Smokey's caught it! We've just got him saying "hello", and now he's picking up stuff off the TV... so young and impressionable! If TV has that kind of influence over budgies, imagine what it's doing to our kids!
  5. Yeah, Casper was the same... he was a brilliant blue when i got him, almost purple around his face and on his back, and he didn't change at all when he moulted. It's going to be interesting watching Smokey's colours change.
  6. Great idea!... but I have no idea how to set up the poll thing etc that goes with a caption competition, but feel free to use my picture if you'd like to set one up, NN!
  7. Hehe... yeah, I like that one too... he's even more spiky today. His cheeks are starting to get really spiky, and the new featers coming out on his face are a deeper yellow than his baby ones. His tummy is also getting a more grey sort of smudge up the middle. Do you guys think his colour will change much, or is this fairly indicative of normal first moult colour change?

YESterday! Have you ever regretted a haircut?!
  9. Hehe... looks like a great big grin!
  10. I was doing a bit of a photo shoot with Smokey this afternoon. He seemed much happier than he was this morning - perhaps because I wasn't making him model his new pin feathers for me to show off... it was just Smokey being Smokey, and he certainly worked the camera for me this arvo! Anyway, I managed to catch him yawning! I LOVE birdy yawns! They're SO cute! Some of our members seem to have pin cushion fetishes... I have a bit of a birdy yawn fetish, so would love to see other members' yawn photos! Let's see how many yawns we can gather!
  11. Hehe... how funny! Birds all seem to have such great, unique personalities! I love their colours!
  12. Here are some photos of Smokey... he was a bit camera shy (a.k.a. a bit of a grumpy bum!)... maybe he's feeling a bit self conscious about his first spikes... It didn't matter how many times I told him his look would certainly impress other members of the forum, he just wouldn't smile for the camera! Aw, pleeeaasse don't show people my spikes! *Sigh* I guess I'll sit still for a moment. This is the last one, alright... Okay, maybe one more, but will you stop if I put on a really cute look? Hmmm... for some reason the pics are up the right way on photobucket, but are coming up sideways on here... will try to get that sorted out so as to save people's necks! R

  14. "Awwaaaggrrrhhhhh!!!! I want a Bertie Beetle NOWWWWW!"
  15. My little Smokey has been showing some behavioural signs of "growing up", but it has been confirmed this morning... He has his first little pin feathers on the top of his head! Will get some pickies when my husband gets home from work with the camera! Aw, baby's first spikes!

Smokey does the same flapping thing... usually accompanied by loud, unattractive screeching! He also nibbles my ears when he's on my shoulder... he's particularly obsessed with earrings!
  18. How handsome! Your Merlin always reminds me of my lovely little Casper... they look so alike and he used to get the same look on his face when I caught him doing "human things" like typing and changing channels onthe TV remote!
  19. Mine falls off htings all the time...he's only young so i think its a bit of an over-confidence/lack of judgement thing for him... it is worrying at times (but secretly funny when you kniw there's nothing wrong with him!). The other day he was sleeping, got a bit of a fright adn went to jump to his top perch, totally missed and disappeared to the floor of his cage. All we saw from teh couch was him flap and drop... then his little head peeping up above the base bit of the cage before he shook himself from head to toe and climbed back up. I think he was more emabrrassed that anything else!
  20. haha! That's great! Smokey is infatuated with his bells at the moment too! He has a similar toy and does the same thing... neither of us get migraines though, so it's not so bad! :bluebudgie:
  21. At what age do little boy birdies start to get... randy? He's been with us for a couple of months, and I got him as a baby. His cere is changing to blue now, but is still more mauve than blue and his forehead lines have receded a litte bit. Initially I thought he was just being playful because he was young, but I am wondering now if it is more than that!! He's knoocked his swing off again... I just put it back for him and it is a bit more within reach than last time... he's dumped the water dropper and hooked up with his swing again! I think it will be a week or so of early bedtimes for Smokey!
  22. On the weekend I rearranged Smokey's furniture, mainly because he was becoming particularly obsessed with the corner of his swing. He'd sing to it, nibble at it, rub against it, get really upset whe he got so "close" with it that it fell crashing to the floor. So I figured I would endeavour to avoid creating a budgie with a super protective and aggressive streak by making his swing a little less accessible. He can still get to it now, but he can't stand on his perch all day and woo it anymore. The first 12 hours were great. He had a ball exploring his new set-up, found his new branches and leaves, sussed out the new placement of all his favourite toys... and his water dropper. Well, it seems he has dumped the swing for the more attractive water dropper! I caught him getting his face right up against it and thought that maybe he hadn't realised his water dish was on the other side now, so I got him on my finger and popped him onto the side of his water dish... no, he wasn't trying to take a bath... he's in love! I got it on video, but he was a bit supicious of me so I was a bit far away using the zoom... sorry if it's a bit difficult to see. Check this out: Video: Smokey has a new girlfriend
  23. I had artificial flowers for my wedding in January and they are the best! So much lighter than the real thing, and being the middle of Summer, didn't wilt or crush! I got the flowers from a distributor and did them myself... The time is going to fly! Did you end up getting your cup cake paper thingies sorted out?
  24. My first ever attempt at a sig... I'm pretty proud!
  25. Last night I caught Smokey asleep all squashed up on the top part of his swing between the roof of his cage and the top of his swing! It looked so awkward, and when I went near his cage to get a closer look he woke up and looked at me as though I had seriously disturbed his beauty sleep! Casper used to do the same thing... really weird!!
