  3. Question........... little george is a boys name. In the other photos he looks SHE. Suggest naming is for either sex or you make sure george is a boy or girl first
  4. Small number of birds.....
  5. Forget the "near nostrils" thing. White on the cere means hen Cere looks whitish blue...........I say HEN ( female )
  6. Any incoming birds. What kind of mites, if they are mites, depends. Not everything is noticed on incoming birds until it has taken hold. Feather quill mites, for instance, are not seen until there is an issue or unless you know what to look for..
  7. If the heart isnt working properly fluid builds up in the lungs and they drown in the fluid. Was your vet an avian vet or normal vet ?
  8. Looks dark green opaline dominant pied to me. Wouldnt be too quick to say boy as the photos arent all that clear. Is the CERE ( part with nostrils ) whitish ?
  9. Mark Chidel interview http://www.budgerigar.com.au/hills/an_interview_with_mark_chidel.htm
  10. Try researching feather quill mites and take a closer look at the feather quills Feather quill mites live INSIDE the quill, and are in the birds bloodstream. Hard to eradicate.
  11. I would serve it in a separate dish
  12. Those lumps you saw should have been expressed at the time. They can be excised by a vet so they dont reoccur. Allowing them to stay means the cheesy gunk builds up and virtually explodes causing bleeding and infection. I always express any I see and treat it with an antibiotic or antiseptic. Some eventually dont reoccur, but some birds just get more and more of them. With your bird, I think it would benefit from a warm salted bathing of the area and some antibiotic or iodine applied making sure it goes into the wound.
  13. Photos of what I was talking about.....not necessarily related to your bird but I thought you may want to see it I euthanase these chicks.
  14. Your bird has an issue with feather cysts not broken blood feathers.... read this http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=23568 Cheers K
  15. She doesnt look "happy" yet. You would want to be sure she is really well and over it before she goes to a new home.
  16. Looking cinnamon spangle to me
  17. Wow !! Bit of a surprise ................let us know if there's a catalogue coming out Phill
  18. Cinnamon greywings do hatch out with plum eyes if this helps Finnie Greywings dont.
  19. In another cage tomorrow isnt soon enough....do it now and get some warmth up to him. Megabacteria if he has that wont cure itself.
  20. He isnt eating a lot....he is pretending to eat. Thats a sign of a bird sick with megabacteria usually and thats serious. Pick him up and feel how thin he is ...check him over. Separate him into a cage with a warm lamp and seed all over the floor to encourage easy eating. BUT if you look closely he wont be eating ...the seed will be dropping out the side of his beak. He is very sick and may not last very long.
  21. I doubt this. Plum eyed chicks ( once you learn how to recognise plum eyes ) are real easy to spot. Why dont you post the chick thats causing you concern and we discuss it ?
