Mother looks like a normal green to me from that photo. Unless she is split blue all babies are likely to be green.
  2. I would suggest NOT getting a hen as you have already stated the LAST thing you need is breeding hassles Squeak........please read more before advising against a persons information and best interests the key to giving sound advice is FIRST being a good listener/reader.

  4. Just put some more babies out into the aviary. Beautiful weather so they can go our sooner than normal. Here is some of them
  5. It doesnt matter I dont think. Most males get along well enough. Be sure to go through quarantine though to protect them both PS the budgerigar nationals will be in Canberra next year if you want to go and look

Hi John Good to have you here. One thing........... there is no American budgies and since you live in Australia there certainly isnt any here for sure. American petshops love to rename things a lot.............so the term american parakeet came from that. They are pet types or show types. No "english" here either.....again USA terminology. Good thing we are aussie based here eh PS have fun............look around. Check out our FAQ section and use the search function to dig up topics of interest
  12. She's a real mess But she is lively and doing fine. She has sight in both eyes. Time will tell if there is any more feather regrowth. I doubt it but you never know.

One thing some must learn is....................if you dont know there's no need to feel you have to answer and GUESS. Others who do know will come along. No need to try and answer everything and if one doesnt have enough time or knowledge to help in a topic, leave it for someone else. We have many experts on here who can answer with some degree of knowledge and not have to "guess". In that way the person asking the questions is more likely to get real answers they can rely on. After all that I wait for new and better and BIGGER photos please
  14. the scab has finally fallen off her head. This is how she looks today

Rainbow is a term to describe a composite bird. One made up from a combination of yellowface (any type) blue series opaline clearwing (a composite variety, not a specific mutation). Yours isnt one. Sorry

Only one shade difference really, and sometimes through photo's I personally find it harder to tell, as if it is overcast light greens can come up darker. This is guesswork we are all making, without bigger photos Speak for yourself I am not "guessing" the cock isnt green at all but would appear to be a YF cobalt.
  18. I would put in an offer now but ken is dragging his feet
  19. If I do a weekly drive to collect or deliver leadlight work and tie it in with visit to the grandkids it will work out fine
  20. They would be an extra hour and a half away than they are now
  21. Ours are in an open aviary so they choose their own partners. We have had many a crest to crest breeding. Some hatch with double crests...one on top of the head and one on the back of the head
  22. I can take that with me......there would be local work and nearby work and I could still work for my glaziers from there.......just further to collect work and deliver. But semi retirement looks good too. I may also find a builder and trade our skills and jobs.
  23. I am not sure what kind they are mate
