  1. I had this problem too, some of my budgies were fat and some of them too tin. My vet told me that if they get enough veggies and fruit, they will be okay with millet only. But I thought they should get more various seeds, so I buy the seeds separatelly and make sure there is not too much of oats, and the oily kinds. And I mix some pellets in it too And they all look much better now. I also started to use liquid vitamins, minerals, etc.
  2. I just found this post. It's interesting - do you think there is no way the chick would hatch and be "sickley" from the addling? In case you don't shake it enough?

They are not treated, the breeder I have the contact from, uses these ropes for her birds and says it's good and cheap . But I will rather ask them before I order it
  6. It's great I felt the same when I candled my first tiel egg. It's so cool how quicky everything goes with birds - you see a little heart beating, then you hear a quiet beeping and then a little later there is a new beautiful birdie . I just love them

I think I will get the hemp rope. I'm just hoping it's not too hard for their feet. I'll see, maybe I should get about 2-3 meters of each kind and see, which one is the best
  8. I love the last baby picture

I found the word FLAX on the internet (dictionary). Maybe it's wrong, it says this: Flax: 1. any plant of the genus Linum, esp. L. usitatissimum, a slender, erect, annual plant having narrow, lance-shaped leaves and blue flowers, cultivated for its fiber and seeds. 2. the fiber of this plant, manufactured into linen yarn for thread or woven fabrics. 3. any of various plants resembling flax. Or it might be called Tow, should be similar to sisal (or maybe it's the same, I'm not sure ) Anyway I think the hemp rope is good. I have some cotton ropes and they get very dirty and aren't easy to clean. And the budgies bite them, so there are strings hanging off of it. The hemp ones might be a bit stronger.

I just need a little advise. I found a company, that makes ropes, I need to get some for the aviary we are planing to build. They sell ropes in lots of sizes and materials. What material do you think is the best to use in an aviary? I can choose from: Flax, Hemp or Cotton. The rest of materials are plastic. Thank you
  11. Congratulations I love the picture

hi zebra i to have 11 piggies the 2 mothers and 4 babys each and the farther chip.i also keep finches in with my budgies. ive been told that you shouldnt keep sharp beaks with curly beaks(somthing like that) but i havnt had any trouble and the finches and budgies are all producing young. I had 3 females and 2 of them had babies (3 and 4). The number 11, the male wasn't actually mine (he was just "visiting" )

I love the last picture . It's interesting to see quinea pigs with budgies together. I had 11 piggies when I was younger - but I had to sell them
  14. It must be good then . I think they like it, it's probably sweet. It's just soooo sticky

9/10 - I didn't think budgies are the most agressive towards other parrots
  16. Yes, she is very good . I think the calcium is actually for humans - it's like sirup. But I trust her that it's okay for birds. She said I can put it in their water or drop in their beak. After my tiel Jasmine lyed an egg from a perch (the egg shell was quite soft) I put a couple of drops in her beak and the next eggs were nice and hard
  17. The company also has some liquid for breeding birds - it should help the eggs to be fertile, makes the male's sperm better quality, reduces stress, etc. I got some for my tiels (who just had a baby) and it smels really nice - it has apple juice in it And after reading here about splayed legs, I asked my vet and she gave me liquid calcium - it's actually very cheap here

I had 61% (2/10) . I'm just too bad for genetics I had no idea budgies stretch one leg when they are nervous . All my budgies do it every morning when they wake up
  19. So I guess the liquid form is good I give them minerals now - because they are molting and it helps them a lot
  20. I found a breeder who is distributing lots of kinds of very good liquids (vitamins, minerals, ...) for birds. I bought some of them - vitamins, minerals, special acid water (prevence of bacteria) It's called AQUAMID - I think this company is czech But I'm wondering, does someone use vitamins, etc. in liquid form as well? I've heard it's much better then powder form.

That made me sad  . Poor girl, she loved him so much. I hope they are together now :angel1:
  23. Yes, I'll see what I can get around here. Thanks a lot for your ideas
  24. The plastic mesh is not good, I have some on my balcony and it melts down in the sun. I've seen nylony kind of mesh. I can't explain it, but it's not plastic. Or I'll use something like "the bamboo rolling curtains" to separate the space. Or maybe a big pot tree (hedge) in the middle or on sides, so they can't hit the sides?
  25. I know what you mean, I'll see if I can find this kind of mesh somewhere. That's a good idea
