  1. He has molted at least 2 or 3 times. So you said that some recessive pieds keep their bars all of their lives? Yeah from what you all are saying and from other recessives I have seen he does look to be recessive.
  2. Well that is a though question. I would say he is around 9-10 months, but see he still has the bars going down to his cere and he has a pinkish purple cere. I am still confused why he still has the bars going down to his cere.
  3. Hey all, here are a few pics of my male budgie (Bugs), when I got him I thought he was a doublefactor dominant pied, but then someone told he they thought he was recessive, and I thought so too because of the markings on his wings. But when I look at him sometimes I swear I can see iris rings coming in. What do you all think? kind of blurry Bugs is on the right and the picture in my signature
  4. Yeah since I do have plenty of time, I think that making a breeding cage, or even trying to just find some place around here that has stuff like that. What would be the proper dimensions for a breeding cage?and thank you for the website, all the times you have replied to my posts I havent even noticed it in you signature haha
  5. Yeah it will be a bit difficult. Yes they are. Oh yes they are definatly too young at this time. See the thing I wanted to do was just plan ahead, so I am doing my research now and by the time I have learned all I can, they will be old enough.
  6. sure I will put up a picture, one sec I will go take a couple these are not the best pictures but here are two. top half: and bottom half:
  7. Really? okay thank you I will have to see how it works
  8. Yeah I think I will have to make do with what I have, because no where around me that I know of sells breeding cages or specialty items. I dont know if I would want to put the box in my biggest door because if I ever needed to get one of my budgies out while they were breeding, that is the door I would have to use and if there were chicks or eggs in there that would be a problem. I could put the box inside, but I thought that budgies wouldnt really go in it if it was inside, or would it just take more time?
  9. When most people breed do they create their own hatches? Because with the cage I have, there are only two small hatches for food and water. and there is one one the front of the cage that will lift up or it will open, which creates a big opening, but that is how i take my budgies out.
  10. Hey all, I would like to breed my budgies when they are a little older, and when I have learned what I need to. One thing I havent learned yet is how the heck you hang the nest box outside of the cage. I find it to be very confusing . And also do you have to cut a part of the cage so the birds can even get to the hole on the side of the nest box so they can enter it? Thanks
  11. okay thanks alot for the reply
  12. hey all, I am really excited because my budgie Echo has just had her first fly since she had her wings clipped awhile ago. She ran into a wall 2 times and I got really worried is there anything I can do to prevent this? The first time she just tapped it a bit then kept flying, and the second time she hit it a little harder and then went to the ground and started walking. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Also my other budgie bugs has not grown his wings back yet since I got him, generally how long does it take for budgies to grow their wings back?

Yeah who knows what they could be doing while I am away. In the last few days not much fighting has been going on. The only thing I saw that was close to fighting was my female pecking at my male one time, the cage is about 20 inches long, 13 inches wide and 32 inches high. Yes I have some spare cages if things get out of hand.
  14. Those were my two main reasons. First my budgies pretty much wont touch fruit or vegitables, except watermelon, and even that they wont really touch. And in the future I planned on breeding them, so I thought why not give them a little now so they can get used to it. My budgies are too young to breed right now anyways, but I thought if I got them started on it, they would take it more readily when they are of appropriate breeding age.
  15. okay thank you. Have you noticed a difference at all in your budgies when you started using the egg supplement?

beautiful parents and babies. Seems like you have some pretty pure lines I guess you could say, with the two yellowfaces and the pieds. Do you plan on breeding the youngters when they get older? Or are you going to sell them?
  18. Hey all, I have never really fed my budgies an egg supplement to their diet,so I thought I might try it. I have been putting in about 1-2 teaspoons, and I sprinkle it over their normal food. My question is how often should I add the egg supplement? I have read only once a week, but I would like some more opinions. Thank you

yes those are the birds i am talking about. The one on the left is a female i am almost positive. It does look like she is male in that picture, but if you saw her in person she looks female, and the other male. here is a picture of her awhile ago

Im almost 100% positive that the male is the aggressive one. I can put up pics of their ceres if you like. It is kind of a weird relationship. I also thought that the male was suppose to feed the female unless the female was sick. But from day one my female has fed my male. My male will do it everyone in awhile but for the most part it is the female. So I do not think she is sick or anything because she still feeds him. I dont know, this is realaly strange

Hey all, I am really confused right now about my budgies. They have never ever faught before, but now the male is acting really aggressive. He will strike at my female really quick, and she will scoot away, but then he will do it a couple more times until she moves off that perch. Also if the female decides to go get something to eat, after awhile the male will come down and my female automatically jumps away to a perch or to the water cup. What do you think can be the cause of this happening so suddendly? I have never seen them fight before. Please help, thank you
  23. wow that is a big difference. How old was she in the first picture and how old in the second?
  24. hops523 replied to hops523's topic in Budgie Pictures

Here are my two budgies! they are so great. I hope to breed them some day but I am still researching, and they are still too young. They both had their wings clipped when I got them awhile ago, and the one of the right hasnt grown them back yet. but my other has. The one on the left is named Echo, and the one on the right is Bugs
