Just an update for today, I havent seen a large lump yet on the hen.Oh and if I dont see the lump tomorrow or the next day, then I can assume she wont be laying soon?

Yeah thats what I thought. Since she started having large droppings last night, could I maybe expect an egg in maybe 2 days?And if so would that mean I would see the large egg sized lump tomorrow?

I got this new vitamin supplement today for birds. Its a powder that you put in the water. I stirred it up, and the water turned neon yellow sort of. Its called vita flight. Do you think my budgies will even drink this?I figured this is safe, but what do you think?

The past couple days I noticed my budgies going in and out of the nest box a little more. So last night I watched them pretty close, and it seemed my female has gotten a little bigger, I'm not to sure if that means much. I saw my male a lot of times sitting of the perch outside of the nestbox, while the female was inside. Now my budgies have these two toys they sleep on every night. Under where my female slept, I noticed there were some pretty large droppings. Do you think she may lay her eggs within the next couple days?

okay so, yesterday I noticed that my female seems to be coming out of condition . And today I just saw my female checking out the inside of the nest box, while the male stood on the perch outside of it.

yeah I will get current picture as soon as possible. But I know they are both male and female. My female has the brown cere, and my male is recessive pied so he has the pinkish/purple cere.

Yeah I am trying to figure out a way to hook it on the outside.I was also planning on playing music all day.And that is a good point about them growing up together, because I did get them around the same time, and they have been together for mostly all of the time I have had them both. But do you think there is still a chance they would breed?

the nest box is on the right hand side. it is actually inside the cage as oppose to being outside. and the cage is at the foot of my bed. during the day there isnt much going on, and no one is home during the day.

KAZ: im saying they are both 19 months. I will get a picture up as soon as I can shaunx: the cage is 30"L x 18"D x 18"H. I do have treats and will put them in every once in awhile, and I do have fresh water everyday. I have taken some of the toys out and put the nest box back in. I figured that my budgies think that their cage is a play area. I will wait and see what happens within the next month or so. Please tell me if you have any suggestions

I have been trying to breed my budgies for awhile, and it hasnt really worked. I had a nest box in their cage for a long time. I took it out about 3 weeks ago,and put some new toys in. My plan was to take some of the toys out, and put the nest box back in today. My female is still in condition. And both my male and female are about 1 year and 7 months old. Would this be a good idea? Anything else to encourage them?

yea that could also be the problem, that they do see it as just a play area, and nothing else for the most part. i will take out the nest box, and change some of the toys around, and all of that. I will see how it goes.

both the male and female are around 17 months old. so about 1 year and 5 months old. the cage is in the same spot, and they were getting the same amount of excersise. i do not have a picture at the moment, but i will try to get one as soon as possible(probably tomorrow). another thing that might be wrong, is the whole nest box is inside the cage hanging up, so say it doesnt matter, and others say it does matter.

Ive had a nest box in my budgies cage, for a really long time, since may 14th actually, I was going to take it out, but then about 3 weeks ago my budgies were going in and out of the nest box a lot, so i left it in. I went on a trip for about 3 weeks, and my female is still in condition, but nothing is happening, ever since ive been back i havent seen either go in the next box. I am going to take it out, but how long do you think I should I keep it out?

Well just an update, all seems to be going well so far, today I saw them in the nest box more than ever, and my male was in there for the first time today. Well the first time that I know of.

Exactly, but I was just asking because when I posted this they were not going into the nest that much until yesterday and today.

Alright so sorry but I procrastinated with taking the nest box out just to see if anything would happen, and the past two days whenever I walk up to where I have them I see the female in the box either sticking her head out of the box or she would just be in the box, and the male would be standing on the perch everytime, I checked to see if there were any eggs but there are none. Since they have never really been in or around the nest box this much any other time, do you think it would be okay just to keep it in there for a little longer?

Alright I will take it out, but how long do you think I should wait to put it back in?

Hey all, here is the deal my budgies are 1 year and almost 3 months old. I put in the nest box when they were a little over 1 year, actually the exact date was: May 14 2007, when my female was in condition. Nothing happend AT ALL, and a few weeks ago I saw that she came out of condition, I was going to take the nest box out, but I didnt. A couple days ago I see that my female is now back in condition, and the nest box is still in the cage. Nothing is happening, is there something I should do to encourage them? Thanks

My pair of budgies have turned about 12 months, and my female is coming into breeding condition. I have been doing research about breeding budgies for maybe 2 years now. And now that my pair is coming into breeding condition, I feel like I forgot all of it haha. Well not really, but Ive just got really excited. I believe I have everything I need, and I will be picking up some hand feeding materials, just incase something goes wrong. But what is a general check list of the things I should have?

okay thanks that sounds like a good idea. Yeah most of the time my budgies are picky, but other times they are not.

Hey all, I have come up with a treat mixture for my budgies, that I put in a seperate cup than their normal diet. I only put this in occassionally. It is egg food mix, a conditioning seed blend, and some "dri greens". I was just wondering if there was anything else I can add to this mixture I have. My budgies jump on it everytime I put it in the cage. I think all of your budgies would like it too.
