maybe its because i don't move things about in his cage so when something different appears he is frightened?? i've no idea but he managed to perch on it for about a second last night!

Thanks everyone, ill try putting it in the bottom of the cage and hope he gets used to it. To be fair he's hardly in his cage anyway but i just thought i'd try it. I never thought about trying square perches hath, thanks i might try that too!

i only bought it because the vet said it wasn't very good for their feet if the perches are all the same.

Hiya, yesterday i bought Oscar a natural wood perch and he is terrified of it. We put it in yesterday and it took him about an hour to go onto his usual perch that he sleeps on. He doesn't like going into his cage anymore so he isn't eating very much. At the moment i have taken the perch out and put his toys next to it on the living room floor but he won't go near it. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks Ali

Hey guys, recently Oscar has been getting lots of kisses, except now he has started clawing at my lips with his foot. Anybody got any ideas what this is?? Please dont tell me its him trying to mount me!!! Is there anything i can do to stop him???

oh thats so funny!! Oscar hasn't started with all that lovin' yet and im dreading it when he does!! My neighbour's budgie is terrible for toes! His owner has to always wear socks!

Hi there, has anybody had any experience of Staphylococcus in budgies? i saw this post on another site and the poor wee soul is really struggling: My friends, Sakis is getting worst. Tomorrow it will be 15 days since he started to breath like this. In the middle of last week he started to be better, but suddenly Sunday his health seemed to go down again.. He's breathing with difficulty, he opens his mouth and he sneezes loudly. He eats and he drinks water, but he doesn't talk (I don't mind about this, I prefer to see him healthy again than to hear him talking). Doctor listened to its heart, it's okay and also his lungs seem okay.. I can't understand what's this. The spittle test showed staphylococcus and it's in the area of throat, that's where he seems to have the whole problem.. But I really don't know what else can I do.. I am so dissapointed.. I cry all the time but I do it in my room, becase I don't want him to understand that I am sad. I try to seem happy to him, because I'm sure that he feels everything we feel. And why staphylococcus, after 15 days of antibiotics doesn't go away? Why he has to be tortured like that? Please, if you have any idea about the situation and if there's something more I can do, please let me know. They have tried baytril and vibramycin but they haven't worked - anybody got any suggestions? thanks
