  1. I'm sorry to hear about Leroy passing. Lovey's right.. the blue one was a female.
  2. Definately looks like a real budgie to me. I'm glad he's starting to come out of his shell.
  3. YFT2 greywing sky blue clearflight pied spangle opaline sky blue dominant pied Since the male is the opaline then female babies would be opaline. You could get 50% spangles 50% non spangles 50% dominant pieds / 50% non dominant pieds and if Sweetpea is actually clearflight pied -- 50% clearflight pieds/ 50% non clearflight pieds. So some babies could be spangle and pied.. or one of the other .. or neither. Babies would all be split for greywing or dilute. If sweetpea is double factor yellowface then you could get all yellowfaces.. if single factor then 50/50.

    He's very cute.
  5. Mango's probably a creamino with white flights. Spangle looks like a yellowface double factor dominant pied. Kiwi/Dixie - 50% spangles and 50% normals.. they would all be green unless Kiwi is split for blue or yellowface - All would have at least 1 dark factor - so dark green Spangle/Merlin - if spangle is a double factor dominant pied then you would get all single factor dominant pieds. They could be yellowfaces or blue depending on what Spangle is. Loki/Mango - if Loki is green.. then the babies would be green unless his is split for blue/yellowface .. Babies would be split for recessive pied and males would be split for -ino
  6. You said you want to get a partner for him.. but the blue and white dominant pied spangle looks like a female to me. However if you bred it to a double factor dominant pied, which the other bird appears to be, you would get. DF dominant pied X SF dominant pied = 50% double factor dominant pied and 50% single factor dominant pied Half of those babies could be spangle as well. Since the 2nd one is green babies would all be green unless she is split for yellowface or blue. If the yellow/green is a recessive pied instead, you could get 50% single factor dominant pied and 50% normal (not pied) Half of those babies could be spangle as well They would be green unless the female is split for yf or blue All the babies would be split for recessive pied.
  7. He's so pretty. They're so cute when they're babies. Flash looks like he'll have a great personality once he gets used to everything. I saw a little guy that looked just like him a couple of weeks ago that I really wanted to get.
  8. You'd probably be better off with 4 females than with 4 females and 1 male. I don't think that there would be as much breeding / competitive agression that way (the females fighting over the male's attention, etc.) You won't have to worry about them producing fertile eggs.
  9. It looks like you have 4 females. I'm not certain about MoMo based on the picture.. but Momo looks more like a female than male to me. The 2 lutinos (yellow ones) are very pretty.
  10. I think that he's a male too based on the picture. I'd suggest Jody for a name.
  11. Even the budgies are too lazy to hold their own heads up
  12. How sweet. I love their messy little faces.
  13. There were 4 cute little budgies. Carrington Bunny and Little And sneaky Khepri! who thinks he is the most desirable of them all. "Yeah.. right.. whatever"

Great pictures! http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....wtopic=5857&hl= I'm somewhat familiar with this rare species. Cutus Upsidedownus -- If they're rare do you reckon they're worth anything?
  15. I think that for the most part all the babies will look like the male --- dark green, olive green, or grey green recessive pieds. If he is split for blue than, blue or grey recessive pieds would be possible.
  16. I think that the budgie is a female. She's really cute.. congratulations on the rescue.
  17. Pretty and Merlin look great. How thoughtful to put a shade canopy in the yard for the deer to enjoy.

Beautiful birds. The spangle baby look exactly like my spangle.
  19. The flight picture of Sylvester is so cute. I only have 4. I can imagine what that must be like having them all zipping around. Mine will all go back.. but I have to put them in in the right order - (Laughing out loud) Khepri has to be the last in.
  20. I think your best bet would be #4 if you want a straightforward yellowface (or goldenface perhaps?) spangle without the interference of recessive or dominant pied.. or the dilute/greywing genes. Bella is a sky blue recessive pied opaline greywing spangle. My males are 1. a yellowface II (possibly goldenface) dilute All the babies would be greywing or possibly dilute (if she's a full body color greywing then all greywings or clearwings) Either 1/2 yellowfaces or all yellowfaces depending of whether male is single or double factor. Half of the babies would be spangles.. but they would have faint markings (greywing or dilute) . All split for recessive pied.. males split for opaline. 2. a cinnamon violet recessive pied (might be opaline too) This male you would get all recessive pieds.. half of them would have spangle markings (like Mom) -- females would be cinnamon.. all babies split for greywing. Some may get a violet gene from dad. If he is opaline.. then all the babies would be opaline. If not then males will be split for it. 3. a cobalt yellowface recessive pied Again all recessive pieds.. half may also be spangles (recessive pied spangles) -- Depending on the yellowface -- half or all of the babies could be yellowfaces. Cobalts and sky blues. All split for greywing. Males split for opaline. 4. a goldenface Possible 50% spangles 50% normals.. Half of babies would be goldenface if dad is SF.. all would have goldenface if dad is DF. All split for recessive pied and greywing. Males split for opaline 5. a mauve yellowface dominant pied Possibly Spangles, Dominant pied spangles, Dominant pieds, and normals.. All should be cobalt.. and half or all will have yellowfaces depending on whether dad is double or single factor. All split for recessive pied and greywing. males split for opaline

I'm very sorry Bea.. Buzz was a great mother and Alfie such a pretty guy. I hope you are able to find out what happened. My sympathies to you.

No.. there wouldn't be any veins in it that early.. they appear after the hen starts incubating.. I don't think you'd see anything until 6 days or so.. I'm not sure of the exact timing.
