Choosing A Keeper!
I like the look of the front one in the first picture.. so I guess I don't have a good eye

Breeding
You could get both if the dominant pied is split for recessive pied.. but you'd have a better chance of dominant pieds and some normal (non-pied).

What Colours Are These Birds
I don't use imageshack.. so I'm not sure what you see when you post a picture.. You needed the part that ended started in "http://img and ended in .jpg" - hit the little icon with a picture that looks like a tree and paste that - it will add the img tags automatically Your pictures were are little big.. they need to be 450 pixels or less so they may get changed to links.. I wasn't sure how to do that.

French Moult Or Very Buff.
I think that those are crested budgies, not feather dusters. They might be called japanese crested.

Intoducing My Humble Flock
Gorgeous budgies.. The first one says sky blue greywing.. but I think he's a violet clearwing.. definately one to add to my "want" list.

Black Eyed Female

French Moult Or Very Buff.
I hope that he is not a feather duster and that you will continue to update us about him. http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v24/i1/budgie.asp What I've read indicates that feather dusters are caused by a recessive gene. If that is the case, the parents of the babies would both be carrying it. If it works the same as other recessive mutations - 25% of their offspring would be feather dusters, 50% would be carrying the gene and 25% would not be. That would indicate that the baby that is not a feather duster has a 66.6% chance of having the gene and a 33.3% chance of not having it, a one in three chance. If he did inherit it then he would have a 50% chance of passing it on to each of his offspring. Those that inherit it would then have a 50% chance of passing it to their offspring and so on. If they were never paired to another bird that carrys the gene.. then no feather dusters.. but as the number of birds carrying the gene grows so does the potential for pairing two birds that both carry the gene. In the future it may become a more prevalent issue that breeders face.

Bunch of cuties! Opal looks ready for takeoff in the second one. Is Darel the only one with dark toenails?

Help Help Help Theya Re Diying
I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I hope you can get to the root of the problem. Handfed vs. parent raised I do realise that situations arise when breeders have no other choice than to handfeed chicks.

What Is Maverick?
He is actually a yellowfaced/blue bird.. with an added grey gene.
-
What Am I?
I would have said male, but I'm not sure. How old is Twinkle?

Male And Female
You could get recessive pieds.. but there's no way to know for sure. Both parent birds would need to be split for (carrying) the recessive pied gene for you to get any visual recessive pieds.
