  1. I don't think you should put them together while the cockateil does not like her, as he may attack her and it's also not fair on him.
  2. You should download GIMP, it's free and it's like photoshop which will allow you to make an awesome signature.
  3. If you want to take the female out, you should clip her wings if she is going to panic. That way she can't fly into things. Don't take out all toys, just take out mirrors and toys with mirrors on them and anything that may show the budgie's reflection. This is because the hen may see her self in a mirror and decided she likes her reflection as a mate better than the boy and thus beats him up if he comes near her "mate". It is a good idea to rearrange their cage every now and then, to give them some variety and dissolve any territories that the budgies may have developed inside the cage. When they start to fight try and distract them by making a loud noise, bumping the cage (gently, remember we are only trying to give them a fright) or throwing a blanket over the cage and covering them, whereby once they have calmed down you can uncover them. If they get really bad (and hens can kill cocks) you will need to separate them into different cages. It is also a good idea to rotate toys so they get something new that they haven't seen for a while. This re-invigorates their interest in the toy and they will be more inclined to play with it and gives them some variety.
  4. "I don't believe in water restrictions!!!!" "This is mine! All MINE!!!"
  5. Yay! Thanks guys! It is a picture of Robbie. I was trying to take a picture of his back to try and figure out if he was a greywing or a clearwing and he decided that scratching himself and not behaving was much more fun than posing! He looks like he is saluting me! "Ma'am Yes ma'am" I will pose for your picture Ma'am!"
  6. Haha, well, if that's the case then it doesn't matter. lol. I wasn't taking away your self-making trouble abilities! I was giving more trouble!!
  7. However not everything follows the same path. When you said that the "cold blooded-ness" shows their link to reptiles, it just seemed like you were saying they had evolved from reptiles and mammals had not. Also there are other forms on life that aren't descended from bacteria like archae forms (I can't remember what they are called). I get what you mean about a common ancestor though. Fun fact: Our mitochondria (the energy houses for our cells) actually have their own DNA, separate to our nuclear DNA. This is because mitochondria are actually primitive forms of bacteria that invaded the cell and formed a symbiotic relationship with it early on in the development of the cell on primitive Earth. So basically every cell in your body has a primitive bacteria in it.
  8. I know how you feel, I just finished my 2nd week of clinical work and still have 2 more to do!
  9. "Knock first!!!!!" or "OMG WTF!!! Knock First!!!!!" or "I asked for help, why you get the camera?" or "Why you laughing at me when I asked for help?"
  10. I suppose I could look it up, but I've been busy working at clinics for the last week, week before that and the next 2 weeks lol. I enjoy it immensely, but I get so tired.
  11. Just because they depend on their mother for heat doesn't mean they are cold-blooded (the proper term you are looking for is ectothermic which means they rely on their environment and are not actually cold blooded persay). Because baby budgies and other birds are so small when they hatch they have a huge surface area to volume ratio in which they lose a lot of heat. So they need their mum to keep them warm as well as preventing them from losing heat. It would sort of be like us walking out in to the Antarctic in the middle of winter with no clothes on. We are losing more heat than we can generate. I would think it would be more that, than they are cold-blooded at the start of life. To be convinced I would need to see an article on it. lol Dave; mammals are descended from reptiles too (we just split off earlier).
  12. When you get perches for the cage make sure you choose branches from safe trees. I believe there is a list in the FAQ section. Great and safe branches for budgies are eucalyptus tree branches. Once you have chosen them, wash them down with vinegar and water solution and leave them in the sun to dry. This will clean the branches of most or any wild bird poo and help destroy germs.
  13. Budgies are known to not eat food placed in front of them they don't like or don't consider food and can even starve to death on it. Sometimes when the shops has run out of budgie seed I buy canary seed mix instead. And when I sift their seeds I always find tonnes of seed they will not eat (usually the stuff that is not in the budgie seed mix) and it builds up. They could have a bowl of the left over seed and not touch it and then as soon as I put a new handful in they would ravenously eat it. I used to buy the homebrand stuff, but there was so much seed they wouldn't eat or couldn't eat (it was bigger than their mouths) that half of the weight in the bag was not eaten and it was actually ending up more expensive.
  14. Try turning on some white noise, like static from the radio, that will help to drown out the music.
  15. You can also swap the parents around as well. But you run out after a bit.
  16. Good on ya Liv. Good on both of you. I can't be bothered making a yahoo profile. lol
  17. I thought so. I just spent a little while reading all your answers. They are very good ones too. It is amazing at the number of people who just don't know the answer yet they give one anyway.
  18. Yep it is definitely a boy and a recessive pied at that. You can tell it is a pied because it has the black eyes and it has markings on it, where as lutinos are void of any other colour. Kaz did you reply as moggie 2?
  19. Sailorwolf replied to Tilly2000's topic in In Memorium
Sorry to hear about Tilly. Hugs
  20. If you want her to breed in the future you don't want her eating the egg. If you take it away she might lay more, but if you leave it there she might try to sit on it. I'll leave it up to the others
  21. Lorikeets don't eat seed at all, don't they? They are a nectar and a fruit eater.
  22. Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear that.
  23. I'm sorry to hear that AV. It's not being a good time for you Aussies is it. Hopefully no more losses will occur.
  24. That's awesome MB!
