  1. Just a bit off topic, but if that cute little fella is a goldenface then my Arkady has definately got to be a goldenface as he has very bright yellow all the way down and is almost completely green all over. Almost as green as Emmett who is a yellow series bird.
  2. Skittles: A little birdy told me.....
  3. Generally you will need another cage. These can come in handy for trips to the vet or for hospital cages and quarantine cages. Look in the FAQ sections as there is a lot of information in there regarding quarantine and general stuff. You quarantine them by putting them in a separate cage in a separate room for the 30 days. Are you able to borrow a cage?

Haaha yes I can tell. Oh yes I would always keep them in a pair, it is just that i would have to have a male rat. I would probably get him castrated though and then maybe have a girly too as then they wouldn't be so prone to fighting and then I could have one of each: A blobby and an athletic thing. However this is a long way off into the future, hehe
  5. Typically new birds may not eat for the first few days and if they do you probably won't see them. Check his seed dish to see if there are any husks inside. They may also not appear to drink as well, but will only do so when you are not looking. Just offer him a variety of treats and perhaps put his seed in a dish on the ground as he may not know how to eat out of the seed containers that come with cages. Just a question. Do you have him in quarantine? Quarantine is very important as it helps to prevent the spread of new diseases into your existing budgie population. Even though he may appear healthy a new budgie could be carrying a disease that may not come out until it is stress. Thus it is good to quarantine your new bird for at least 30 days to ensure that it is not carrying any diseases, which should show in that time. It also gives you a good opportunity to bond with the birdy and observe whether it is eating or not much more easily.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I used to have two ratties An agouti hooded doe named Alissa And a black hooded doe named Zephyr. She was a very sweet little girl and absolutely adored me and would lick me, I do miss her. Alissa on the other hand was not well socialised as a baby (bad petshop) so I didn't get on too well with her, but she was huge for a girl ratty. I now currently have a chinchilla, 13 budgies and 2 goldfish. I plan on getting ratties again one day when I have my own place. I think I might get a big blobby male rat as I want a cuddly one hehe, that will sleep on you and watch TV with you.
  7. Yes I would say greywing rather than a clearwing
  8. I used to have a friend who had a mixed viary of budgies cockateils and bourkes and turquoisines and they all seem to get along okay.
  9. Hmm you really need to clean out your ears more often Hey this new ear candling fad is the best Let me help you put your head on properly
  10. You should ideally quarantine them for 30 days before introducing them to your other birds as they can carry diseases that aren't visible at the time of buying, which can come out during times of stress and infect your whole flock.
  11. Does that make him a rainbow then?
  12. You might have to train it not to bite you. Either by scaring it when it bites you, or pushing it away on its beak so it is uncomfortable when it bites you. Or don't feed it straight away if it bites you. Wait until it has stopped biting before feeding it. That way it won't associate biting you for food.
  13. Yes definitely a female mauve opaline fullbody colour greywing

He looks really vibrant in that last picture.
  15. Yes I agree and if you're anything like us, which you will be, eventually there will be more than two budgies in that cage.
  16. Yep they have all the same bones that we have in our arm, apart from the thumb. They also have all the same bones in their legs too. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/bgifs/Birdskel_bw.GIF You'll have to click on that picture, it didn't come out very clearly with the downsizing Sailorwolf, I have changed it to a link as it exceeded board guidelines, so people have to click on it anyway to see it in detail. As I said in the post below it is quite amazing to look at. Feathers
  17. Well after a day of being put into the smaller cage away from the other brats, he is quite a bit happier and is singing and head bobbing a lot more.
  18. Yep sounds good. I don't end up playing with my budgies every day, but because they have friends and a large cage they are relatively happy.
  19. Well then you probably won't need to clip his wings. I think the greatest reward is when a bird that is flighted chooses to be with you.
  20. 2-3 weeks old is way too young to be sold they should be at least 6 or 7 weeks old. You could get one budgie tame him up then a month later get another budgie and tame him up while he is in quarantine and then they should be pretty tame when you put them together
  21. Could he not also be a lacewing as he has no colouring on his belly and the bars on his head seem too dark for a fallow
  22. Maybe you could call him Hatrick hehehe
  23. Although some petshops are idiots and don't actually know how to clip wings
  24. That sounds like a myth to me
