If everyone is careful the risk to their indoor birds will be low, i.e maintain high hygiene, remove shoes, wash exposed skin and contaminated clothing etc. Outside bird keepers should be worried as unfortunately it will be in wild birds soon for several years. Another major factor is domestic cats. They will pose the greatest risk to human health and also pet birds. Cats will feed on dead birds with the disease and hence bring it back into the home. They may also bring diseased birds into the home. Therefore if you have a cat keep it indoors at all times, get it a sonic collar or for complete safety get rid of it, harsh but reality.

  15. I use a sturdy plastic clip to attach cuttlefish to the cage, take care with Zinc as even small amounts aren't good for the health of your bird

  17. Sadly birds only need a small amount of toxins to be fatal whereas they deem these levels okay for humans, although I'd prefer not to eat fruit with toxins in.
