  1. Thanks for that Lovey I will remove the offending toy to see if that makes any difference. I really would like to get a friend for him as I am out at work most of the day and he is here on his own listening to the radio. Do there personalities change much when they have company. I just want what is best for my little man
  2. I have been thinking recently of getting Pippin a friend but have really been unsure as I dont want him to lose his personality. He is a really friendly little thing and loves his mum to bits. Anway on Tuesday night I caught him being over friendly to his see-saw mirror on the top of his cage. I left him alone thinking it might be a one off situation, but last night when I let him out he went straight to it and carried on where he had left off. Is this hormonal or does he need some company.

I mentioned these perch covers to the vet when I had taken Pippin to have his nails trimmed. The vet told me not to use them as they can irritate their little feet. She told me the best thing for keeping their nails down is natural branches in the cage.

I dont know about Bobby, but Pippin is actually going through a moult at the moment and the feathers that were stained have disapeared over the last couple of days. I will keep a watch on him now just to see if it is a moulting thing.

Just thought you might like to know that Pippin is exactly the same colouring as Bobby and he too gets the browny coloured staining above his cere. Like Bobby, Pippin doesnt seem to be suffering and is very active and eating well. Pippin is coming up to 12mths old now and this has been a regular thing since I had him. I have tried bathing it, to see if it comes off (its doesnt) I too would be very interested in what others think it may be.
  6. Does he just sneeze or does he have the staining that Pippin has above his cere ??
  7. Yes he does sneeze a lot, and has done since I got him but his breathing is fine, I cant hear anything that sounds wheezey. I have seen him rubbing his little head on the cage bars, but only when he has been moulting. He has a natural tree twig for one of his perches and the others are plastic adn occasionally he will rub his head on these. Do you think he needs to see a vet with the discharge ?? I'd hate to think he has been unwell all this time and I've ignored it.
  8. The only veg he will eat is carrots whch he has had today, but this stain was there before I put the carrot in his cage. It looks very much like the stain is coming out from his cere if that makes sense. I have got a picture of when he was a baby with this stain, but I'm not sure how to post it without it being too big. This is a picture of Pippin with the stain, when he was quite young http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e123/Hop...e/Pippin014.jpg
  9. Hi All I need some advise. Pippin is coming up to his 1st birthday in a couple of months, but since I got him every now and again his feathers are stained a dirty brown/orange above his cere. He is just going through a moult at the moment, so the stain looks worse than ever. I sprayed him last night as he hates having a bath and noticed that this stain also looks like it's on his scalp. Although he is a clingy little budgie, he won't allow me to touch him with my finger only with my nose He his healthy enough and doesn't seem to be in any pain or distress, as he is still talking and swearing. I just wondered if anyone had any idea as to what it could be. Thanks Pippins Mum
  10. Thanks I shall give each of them a try. I think one needs to finds one's own way of dealing with it. Hope it doesnt last forever to be honest. Cheers hunnies bunnies.
  11. Hi guys long time no speak This weekend was good wasnt it. I went to the park for a powerwalk and had a vindaloo for my dinner. Let me know how yours was and what you got up to, but only if you have the chance. Help me please, Pippin wont go back in his cage. He really hates it. I now have to grab him from the back which I dont like doing, obviously gently but nevertheless he is extremely reluctant. He is out a good hour and a half each day and Ive only had him a few weeks. He has come on leaps and bounds on a positive note but how do you overcome this? He also has ample flying space. I dont want to keep grabbing him. I feel like a nasty pasty and keep shaking about it, its turning me into a little bag of nerves. I dont know what to do? What do I do? What do I do? Do you think so? Im not quite sure? Because obviously he's not talking yet I cant ask him why he wont go back in, if he was talking it would be a different story. Please advise guys. Kath and naughty Pippin
