  1. What a little cutie. My little budgie boy is called Pippin and he gets called Pip or Pippy. He tends to get his full Sunday name when he's being naughty I'm sure whatever name you choose to go with will suit the little munchkin.
  2. Well done, that's pretty impressive. I would have loved that when I was a little girl.
  3. That is so cute
  4. Thanks Elly, yes it does. I'm hoping he produces a few more, the colours are stunning around his tail, but the camera doesn't pick it up enough.
  5. Now that's where you lose me, I'm sooooo ignorant with genetics and unfortunately, the breeder I got him from no longer breeds due to ill health so I can't check it out. It will be interesting to see how many more blue feathers come through. I don't think he was too kean on having his butt captured on camera for all to see :(Laughing out loud):
  6. Do they do feather dye for budgies
  7. He has some coming through on his chest, but they're not as obvious as the ones in the pics and dont show up on the camera. I'm surprised as these have only just appeared in the last week or so.
  8. Here are Pippins butt shots - not sure I am doing this correctly http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e123/Hop...dge/misc083.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e123/Hop...dge/misc080.jpg Hope this works
  9. Yes, he still has his white vent feathers, the blue feathers are on the outer area
  10. Thanks. I will try and get some pictures today, although it won't be that easy as he isn't too keen on the camera.
  11. Pippin is going through a heavy moult at the moment, but I noticed yesterday that he has started to get blue feathers coming through near his bum. I have also noticed what looks like very faint blue stripes across his chest. He is coming up to three years old and I can't say I have ever noticed these feathers before. I'm not that well up on genetics but I think Pippin is what is called a normal green. Is it possible for a change in some feather colours to happen or is it that they are more noticeable due to the moult :budgiedance:
  12. What a cute baby
  13. Male or female, Philip is a little cutie
  14. He's a little cutie
  15. Brilliant pics, as always.
  16. I'm off on holiday tomorrow for a week and Pippin is going to a friends house to be looked after. I know that he will get the best care and attention with her, but my question is, will he miss me? Pippin is such a clingy little bird, and won't go to anyone other than me. I'm dreading the time coming when I have to take him, I'm just so worried he will start to pine. He was in hospital recently for 4 days and it took him a couple of days to come round to having anything to do with me He has now back to his happy little self But I'm not sure how he will be after 8 days. Can anyone ease my worries, or am I just being a neurotic mum ?

They are all stunning :budgiedance: You made some good choices.
  18. Well my little baby is home. Got a call from the vet this morning to say he was ready to come home. Went to pick him up this afternoon and had to wait while he had his final dose of treatment. I could hear him tweeting from the reception area and it seemed like a lifetime until I went through to collect him. He looks great. He has to go back on Saturday morning for a check up and I have to ring the vet in the morning with a report on how he has been since he came home. He is happily playing with his toys and being very loud and tucking into his food. Going to let him out soon for a bit of 'out of cage time' as he hasnt had a whizz round since he went in on Friday. Not sure he is very pleased with me, will soon find out when I let him out. Thanks for all the messages of support, not everyone understands there is more to these little bundles of mischief than 'just a budgie'.
  19. He hasnt said, but from what he has told me is that if left untreated could cause abcesses in the sinus cavities. It seems this is not an uncommon problem. The symptoms are a sticky brownish discharge from the cere and quite a bit of sneezing. They also rub their heads on the bars to try to relieve the pressure inside their heads. Hopefully, this treatment will work. If not he may have to have a sinus wash.
  20. I took Pippin to the vets on Friday afternoon as he has problems with his sinus's and over the last 12 months has had several doses of antibiotics which don't seem to clear the problem altogether. Well on Friday the vet (avian) decided that it had gone on long enough and needed a different approach. He admitted Pippin and he is being nebulised twice daily with antibiotics in the hope of getting the medication properly into his system. I was told it was just for a couple of days, but my little man is still there. He is doing very well and the vet is really pleased with his progress. This morning I was told that he was chirping happily away, his feathers had dried out and he wasn't as sneezy. Hopefully, when I ring in the morning I will be able to go and collect him. I miss him so much, and the house is so quiet. Its awful walking into the lounge and his cage is there and no little Pippin. On another good note, I was getting a bit twitchy about how much all this nursing and treatment was adding up to. I finally plucked up the courage to ask this morning and was amazed when the receptionist quoted £37.50. I was expecting a really huge bill. It just goes to show that not all vet treatment is that expensive. I will let you know if he comes home tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
  21. Brilliant pics as always Bea, I always look forward to you posting them. The close ups are fantastic.
  22. I had a similar problem with Pippin earlier this year. It started out with him holding his leg up and not being able to put it down. I made an appointment at the vets and was told it could be he had pulled it or worse case it could have been an enlarged kidney or testicular tumour pressing on the nerves. He was put on a course of Baytril and over the next couple of days progressed to where he was dragging his little leg around. Eventually the antibiotics kicked in and he started to improve and is fine now, although he is back at the vets again tomorrow for his sinus problem. I know that Sarah has been a poorly little girl but until you see the vet and I do recommend she goes, we are all just guessing at what the problem is. I have my fingers crossed for you and Sarah.
  23. Aww that last picture is so cute
  24. Don't ask me where I got that one from, I just found myself saying it to him and it seems to be one of his favourites :budgiedance:
  25. Pippin talks. He has about 20 different phrases, including a couple he shouldn't have . His first phrase which I started with him when he was around 12wks was 'mummy's little chicken', and I just repeated it to him over and over and once he got the hang of it, all others were pretty easy. What I find really amusing is they pick up the tones in your voice. Some other of his phrases are: 'Aww you dirty bird' (that's from when he poo's on me), 'Mummy's precious', 'Kiss kiss' and then two kissy noises, 'Nasty Pasty', 'Rinky dinky stink', 'Oh he's a good boy', 'What ya doing bud', 'Hello chicken', 'Bossy boots', 'Hello beautiful', 'Oh he's beautiful', 'Little sausage', 'Tidgy pud' etc. It can take time, but the rewards when they do start to talk are well worth the effort.
