    What a little cutie
  2. You scored: 9 / 10 Total points: 90 The average score for this quiz: 5 / 10 Guess I know more than I thought I did . That last question got me too. Never heard of one, but then we don't have the stunning birds you have over hear in the sunny UK. :
  3. It's such hard work being a budgie
  4. Awww he's a lovely little boy, what a stunning colour.
  5. Thanks Elly.
  6. This is my first attempt at posting pics, hope its okay for size. Pippin is camera shy, but managed to get this
  7. My budgie Pippin has recently been on Baytril and also Ornicure in his water for a sinus/kidney infection problem. As it is difficult to determine how much a bird is drinking, I held his water pot up to him to make him drink. Maybe this is something you could try with your little one. One of the signs that Pippins had a problem with his kidney was he went lame in one leg. The vet advised that this could be down to an enlarged kidney (infection) or a testicluar tumour pressing on the nerves in his leg. Thankfully, the medicine had the necessary effect and he is back to normal. Lets hope that the medicine works for your little one.
  8. You are quite right Bea, Blinkie isn't the only shameless boy budgie. I had to take Pippin to the vets yesterday and put him a piece of carrot in his travel cage. On the way there he decided he would give it a good humping, but on the way back decided it was nice enough to eat Dirty boy Pippin
  9. She is stunning
  10. Lovely pics. What a little fluffy head Bobby is, even when he is moulting and missing his tail feathers :oliveb:

Ha ha. Love that last shot. Looks like Bailee is intent on defending his special foot. Little Fizzy is sat there all innocent, letting Ozz take the flack. Good shots Bea.
  12. Aww that is so cute.
  13. Oh they are stunning. Its amazing just how quick they grow.

  15. Hi. I have replied to your message, but on the chance you haven't read it. Pippin is doing fine now, he is back to normal with his leg. He has been on antibiotics and went back to the vets again last night for a further check up. The vet was pleased with the outcome and believed that Pippin had had a kidney infection causing the kidney to swell and therefore pressing on the nerves in his leg. As like humans we have a strong side and a weak side, ie if you are right handed thats your stronger side etc. Therefore the swollen kidney affected the weaker limb. Pippin has always from being a baby gripped harder with his right leg. I would strongly recommend searching out another avian vet. If he does need medication, the sooner he starts on the treatment the better. I could see a difference with Pippin within a couple of days of him starting his treatment. Keep us updated on your little one.

I have had the exact same problem with Pippin over the last couple of weeks (he isn't even 2 until May). I took him to my avian vet who put him on antibiotics with the view that it maybe a kidney infection or at the worst a testicular tumour (which meds can't do anything for). Well the good news is that after being on the meds Pippin is now back to normal and is using his foot again with no problems. He is back at the vets on Friday for a check up, but all the signs are good. I would strongly recommend a visit to the vets just to check out the problem. My vet told me that as the kidney enlarges it presses on the nerves in the legs causing lameness. It could be a similar problem. Let us know how he is.
  17. Glad to see she is settling in. Looks like she is going to be a bundle of fun.
  18. He was surely a beautiful little boy. You have some lovely memories in the pictures you have. He may only have been with you a short time but you did your very best for him and that little boy knew he was very much loved and wanted. I know this is a painful time for you and my heart goes out to you. Time is a good healer and there will come a point when you can look at these photos and no doubt the many more you have, with a smile on your face and without tears. He will always be with you in your heart and memories. (((hugs)))
  19. I've taken some of your advice and put a towel in the bottom of his cage and moved his branches lower down nearer to his food and water so he doesn't have as far to go to eat and drink. The foot doesnt seem as floppy today, but I think I'm trying to kid myself that its not what I think it is as he was lay down on his perch this morning when I uncovered him. He is still chirping away and eating, although he isnt as active and is quite happy to sit on my shoulder and give his mum kisses. Will keep you updated.
  20. Ouch !!! thats some bite. I was ready for blaming one of the tiels. Bad lad Blinkie :rip:

I'm so very sorry for your loss. These little birds become so much a big part of your life and its totally devastating when anything happens. I hope you can find strength from the messages of support you have received from your friends on here. I know you are always there to give support to others. My thoughts are with you at this sad, sad time. ((((hugs))))
  22. Thanks everyone for your support. Unless you have had a budgie and know what amazing personalities they have, its easy for people to dismiss your feelings (how many times do you hear 'it's only a budgie'). I checked Pippin when I got in from work tonight and there doesn't seem to be any improvement. He is still eating and drinking and still chattering away as normal, it's just his little foot that he is either holding up against him or it's flat on the perch with no grip. If he shows any signs of deteriorating before Tuesday (he has an appointment at 1:20pm) I will take him back to the vets immediately. I'm just hoping that my little man isn't suffering. Will keep you updated.
  23. I took Pippin to the vets last night as the wetness over his cere had returned. I noticed the night before when he landed on me that he was lifting his left foot up and was putting all his weight on his right. It was still the same when I came home from work last night and he didnt look as if he could grip his perch with it. I bundled him in to his travel cage and went to the avian vets for the appointment. The vet had a good look at it and said it could be a pulled muscle or infection. He also said that if there was no improvement by next week he would xray him as it could be an enlarged kidney or a testiclular tumour. I am out of my mind now with the worry of it (the vet gave me more antibiotic for the cere). I know I should be thinking positive but the fact that these things were mentioned makes me think on the black side. I'm sick to my stomach with the worry of it. I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar that had a good outcome. I cant bear the thought I might lose him, I love that little bird so much, he's such a little character and is a brilliant little talker. Any ideas ????

They're all so sweet. I especially love the one of Bailee., he is such a cute little baby.
  25. That's a shame, but I suppose it's better safe than sorry. I'm just wondering what the store actually did with all the birds they had.
