Hello Cathrine, Thanks for your ideas ad tips they have helped muchly! Its been rianing lots laltey so i havnt been able to go outside to look for branches... Can budgies eat alfalfa? We dont have much bottle brush trees around here. I have put some lettace in cage and they are scared of it. I guess they've never have had lettace before. Poor budgies. Grevillea is great if there is no bottle brush or some leafy twigs from gum trees (always washed). Alfalfa is fine. I think the budgies would be more interested in sprouted mung beans than alfalfa because there is something to chew on. (My birds love them.) I suggest you sprout them yourself because you can do the exact quantity you need rather than waste a whole pack from the supermarket. You can buy raw mung beans at seed merchants and health food shops. Lettuce is not recommended. It can cause problems with excessive pooping and it has no nutritional value for the birds. Instead, I suggest you put in a leaf of silver beet or a leaf of bok choy or similar vegetable. Just poke the leaf through the cage bars. The birds will regard it as a toy to wreck but any they eat is beneficial. Always wash their vegies very carefully. Thanks Cathrine! What does Grevillea look like and Bok Choy? Never heard of them! I have bought some alfalfa sprouts ( i love eating them myself if the birds wont lol) I washed them and stuck some in the cage with a peg holding it. They arnt taking any intrest in it so far. I'll wait for a few hours or more. I also bought some cerly and carrots Washed them and shred the carrots and put them in a bowl on the floor of cage, both arnt taking interest in them. Im seperateing them because they are not getting along with each other, biting each others tails and so on. Thanks for the tips and thanks for the Link I will read it now. What ive been doing is putting my hand still with food in it each day.

Hello! this cage is going to be for one bird pebbles, he and sparky dont get along anymore so best to seperate them. I will be leaving the cage door open for pebbles he loves to fly around the room. How should I set up this cage for him? I also have a round table they like to hop onto with a bowl of water thy like to swim in and a few toys and grit. Any tips and ideas would be good. Also i will be moving them both into a small/medium room when i get it sorted out. So I can tame them both sepratly. Also any tips how to set up a budgie room? Im going to clear my spareroom out and put them both in there. A budgie room lol. Got any ideas how to set up a budgie room????? Its quiet small/mediumish.

I have 2 budiges Pebbles and Sparky When i try to get pebbles out of the cage he bites me and draws blood and bites other people too. Sprky is very good. But they are scared when i put hand in cage, thy run around when im not moving my hand... Need some help! And they are hard to catch. What am I doing wrong? Ive had them for a one year now.

Thank you Elly, im getting my cage soon. and will cover the cage when i get my new cage. They wont go inside the cage and when they do and when i get near to shut the door they fly out of the cage, they arnt tame yet... taking progress. Hugs

Yes Sparky is molting, i am not sure if pebbls is a girl or not yet. can babies still mate?? My cage is small but i leave the door open all the time im home alot so i watch them I am looking for a bigger cage i found a couple on the internet that i like i just have to save up. which is hard cos i dont have a job yet and on pension. Looking for work though. part time. I dont have a credit card or debt card mum does though so i give her the money to buy. I just gotta email the seller for the cage to see how big the bar space is. I want one on trolly so i can wheel them outside in the sun and shade. Thanks everyone for all your advice!p.s i dont keep them coverd cos its hot here.... i only have one food dish but going to get another one today. I also handle Pebbles alot more then Sparky he dosnt like it.Could that be the reason too? Jelousey?

okay thanks, do i need to join up first? is a big bar spacing dangerous for the birds? why does it have to be 12cm? If it's too big they can get out, or they can get stuck in the bars and die! If they try and tell you it's fine for budgies ask them for exact measurements... also ask if their are any section with wider bar spacing, esp near doors and corners, and ask for those too. Also remember, they want to sell this cage to you and some people will say anything! I personally havn't bought from them so can't personally comment. Good luck thank you maesie

Sparky and Pebbles fight over the food and the swing and when ever they are ontop of the cage, Pebbles is minding her own business and then Sparky he is older 6 months old, pecks at her. Why is this? Is Sparky jelouse?

whats a cere??? I tried to take another photo with better light and angle but Sparky and Pebbles kept running away, i dont think they like having photos taken lol. p.s i pushed my finger onto pebbles belly but she didnt step up, so i left it at that. What am i doing wrong???
